11.7.09 Horspath six a side competition

 - I thoroughly enjoyed the day and I hope the boys did to. I was impressed the lads made the quarter finals and I think we will improve throughout the season as their confidence grows. (Yet again we drew 2 matches because the oppositions goalkeepers made some excellent saves). I am now pretty content with the squad and who will play in each position next season and I think we will do well, however I must stress that the emphasis will still be on enjoyment as I believe that will bring the results the lads desire. 21.2.09 Chasewell Park 5 v 1 Carterton U 9's

Having only played two competitive matches in the previous 10 weeks, both teams looked keen to stretch their legs. With a clear sky and lovely sunshine the conditions were perfect.
The game started without Chasewell's coach as he was refereeing the younger boys, but Chasewell opened up with sustained pressure which eventually ended with Ryan Beckinsale finding the ball at his feet - with a slight adjustment he slotted home the opener into the far corner. Once more Carterton were finding that even when they cleared the ball. The formidable partnership of Rufus Barker and captain Elliot Barton were not just winning all the balls, but breaking into Chasewell's midfield. Becks once more picked up ball Chasewell had won and with twist and acceleration he was unfortunate to see his shot hit the post. Next up was Sam Sherpa Moore who stole a Carterton ball. and with an inviting goal he elected to take another touch which gave Carterton's goalkeeper just enough time to recover and pull of a fantastic save. But from the resulting corner Ryan Beckinsale once more showed no mercy. Sam's presence out right caused numerous problems to Carterton. And from one such pass he fed Lewis Curry who despatched a great finish. But credit to Carterton who finished the half the stronger and only the brave headed intervention of Elliot Barton relieved the pressure and Chasewell broke free. With Becks bringing out another quality save from Carterton's keeper and Lewis just shaving the post with the follow up.
Chasewell changed their formation a little in the second half which some say worked, but others not - sadly Capello was else where. Carterton forced themselves back into the game and from a corner that should really have been dealt with Carterton reduced the arrears which was justice for their attitude and hard work. But it also acted as a wake up upon Chasewell who immediately applied the pressure again. Sam played a ball back to Rufus whose inviting cross found others sleeping. But once more following another great save Conor Taylor's cross found Becks who took a nice touch and was upended. Ryan took the penalty himself, looking for his hatrick. but Carterton's keeper stood strong and saved the initial penalty. But sadly for Carterton the only three players running in were Chasewell's with Sam Sherpa Moore knocking in the rebound.
With the manager's half time words well and truly forgotten, Chasewell's players began to play themselves into trouble. with most relying heavily on the hard work of Elliot and Rufus in defence to keep the ball away from goal, with Rufus eventually finding Ryan Beckinsale who broke free and finished cooly for his hatrick (another!)With Chasewell missing three registered players the only substitution saw Charlie Witton replace the injured Lewis Curry.
Credit to Carterton who battled hard with good spirit and, despite the scoreline, hopefully with a bit more belief will kick on and get the results their hard work deserve, and hopefully Dave will get a lot more support from his squad.
Chasewell' man of the match was the squad. match report from W&DYFL Web site

31.1.09 Bicester Town Colts 1 v 0 Carterton U 9's

On a cold morning at the BSA both sides started playing with some great fluent passes Bicester soon went on the attack with Captain Charlie Cassidy hitting an unstoppable 20 Yard volley witch hit the bar straight away Carterton went up the other end and only for the flexibility of Bicester's goal keeper Jake long it would have been 1-0 to Carterton just before the end of the first half a superb run form harry butler web and a great ball through the lighting Jack bailey who rifled his shot Home.
In the second Half Carterton put Bicester under a lot of pressure but Bicester broke away and Captain Charlie Cassidy hit a fine shot which was superbly saved by the Carterton keeper just before the end Bicester had which Jordan Craig delivered and Captain Charlie Cassidy headed over.
Great game played in very good spirit man of the match Harry butler web. report from W&DYFL Web site

 22.11.08 Carterton U 9's 0 v 3 Chasewell Park

Despite knowing how cold Carterton can be, Chasewell arrived to find the usual warm hospitality and activity as football seemed to be being played on every pitch. Despite a small pitch, Chasewell had a lot of early ball, pressure and corners. But a very gutsy display from Carterton kept Chasewell honest, and even when Ryan Beckinsale beat his defender on a couple of occasions he always found others making his life difficult. Its fair to say that once more the opponents had a great goalkeeper. But a few reshuffles showed the potential and capability this Chasewell squad has, but half time brought no goals.
At this point in time in was clear that this referee was as nicer man you will find, not just keeping the game running, but complimenting both sets of players through out the game. With an outstanding spine of Sam Sherpa Moore and Elliot Barton at the back - first time this season - Chasewell found a balance and just as everyone seemed to think the ball was dead Ryan Beckinsale thundered in a superb opener. This was quickly followed by a flowing move between Elliot, Becks and Conor, which Rufus converted from Conor's cross. By this point Chasewell seemed to be creating a chance a minute. Lewis Curry had a few headers before rifling in a great left footed shot, which he and everyone else was astonished to see the goalkeeper save. Elliot Barton's vision gave himself two wonder full opportunities, which Carterton defended bravely. Meanwhile Ryan Beckinsale's ability to create for others, was bringing the best out of Conor Taylor's skill and Lewis Curry's endeavour, which Rufus Barker benefited from again as he was first to smash in the third. And just as he looked in the right place again to find his hatrick, his header just went over. A little push towards the end showed that despite feeling the cold. These young boys from Carterton never gave up as they found the cross bar, following a very brave headed clearance from Elliot Barton. But a great display from all these young children in very cold weather. Chasewell's man of the match was Sam and Elliot at the back - great things are built on foundations! Thanks to a wonderful referee and an astonishing Carterton goalkeeper.
Goals from Rufus Barker (2) and Ryan Beckinsale. match rpoert from W&DYFL Web site

15.11.08 Charlbury Town Youth 3 v 2 Carterton U 9's

Charlbury and Carterton faced each and it promised to be another tight match just like last year's results.
Both teams started well and there was not much difference between the teams, with both teams having some periods of attacking and defending. Charlbury then took the lead through Ross Juszczak who scored from inside the area and then Carterton equalized from a corner with Tom Dove getting the last touch. Carterton pressed for the lead and it very nearly came when an Alex Moss pile driver hit the bar as Carterton continued to control the game.
In the second half Charlbury started quicker and Connor Allsop scored a great goal to give Charlbury the lead and there was then a period of end to end football with both teams giving everything. . Carterton kept their heads and were soon level again when a good long ball from Martin Rhodes was played on by Mehmet Sekmanto Alex Moss whose low cross was converted by Tom Stanley. But Charlbury replied straight away with Robert Vincent turning the ball into the net after Connor Allsop had hit the bar from a cracking shot. Carterton battled hard to get an equalizer but Charlbury held firm for their first league win of the season. Both teams played very well and showed great spirit right to the final whistle. report from W&DYFL Web site

8.11.08 KO Cup 2nd Rd - Banbury United Youth 3 v 1 Carterton U 9's

1.11.08 Carterton U 9's 2 v 2 Bicester Town Colts

A freezing cold Saturday morning at Monahan Way saw Carterton coming off the back of two defeats facing a Bicester side sitting top of the table. Carterton started brightly with Harry Davies commanding at the back and Tom Dove pulling the strings in midfield. Carterton soon took the lead their football deserved when Tom Dove threaded a ball through to Mehmet Serkan who ran on and slid it past the keeper with a fine finish. Bicester then took control of the game and forced a few corners. Bicester continued their pressure and showed why they are top with some good football and soon took a deserved lead from another corner, with the Carterton defence hesitant the Bicester forward volleyed home.
The second half began and it was Bicester who started on top and were controlling the game. Another attack resulted in a foul on the Bicester forward and the referee had no hesitation in pointing at the spot. Unfortunately for Bicester the spot kick taker hit the post and then put the rebound wide. This seemed to spark Carterton back into life and they soon got their passing football going again and began to control the game. The crowd sensed an equaliser and Matty Bryce didn't disappoint. With a drop of the shoulder he beat the last defender and coolly slotted the ball past the advancing Bicester keeper. Carterton continued to press for the winner however time ran out.
A fantastic game of football played in good spirit which was a credit to both sets of players. match report from W&DYFL Web site

18.10.08 Banbury United Youth 3 v 0 Carterton U 9's

This early kick off saw Banbury United Youth take on Carterton at home in the bright sunshine with the leagues' two meanest defences on show. The first half had 'nil-nil' written all over it and so it proved with only a few corners at each end to show for the whole half.
The second half had United on most of the attack with a pass from Lincoln Alexander setting Callum Reed free to finish in style. United continued to press forward, a Connor Sims shot fell to Ashley Owen to finish for 2-0. A long ball from Shay Kelly to Oliver McBride to Lincoln Alexander made it 3-0 to United, Banbury's defensive partnership of Shay Kelly and Ashley Owen were outstanding at the back mopping up all comers, this left George Millward in goal with little to do. A good refereeing performance allowed both teams to play football. match report from W&DYFL web site.

8.11.08 Under-9 Knock-Out Cup - 2nd Round     Banbury United Youth 3 v 1 Carterton U 9 Colts

A damp morning greeted these two 'A' league sides in what must have been one of the toughest clashes in the cup today. Carterton looked up for the game and a real battle would lie ahead. Banbury went on the attack from the start putting pressure on the Carterton defence. The defence held well until well into the first half when a classic run down the right wing saw Lincoln Alexander blast a shot across the face of the goal into the top corner. Carterton probed for the rest of the half with Tom Dove and Kieran Phillips trying their best to find a way through the resolute Banbury defence
The second half saw more of the same with striker Taylor Jenkins coming close on more than one occasion. A fantastic save from Matty Bryce in the Carterton goal was only putting off the inevitable as substitute Paul Barnes come on in attack and quickly buried the ball in the back of the net for Banbury's second. Banbury seemed to relax and Carterton put the pressure on the strong defence of Ashley Owen and Connor Sims. Eventually the pressure saw a shot from Carterton's Alexander Moss deflected into the back of the net for 2-1. This set up an exciting end-to-end last 5 minutes with two outstanding saves from Banbury Keeper George Millward, but eventually the Banbury pressure told with a great move from Callum Reed for Oliver McBride to finish in style for a final score of 3-1.
A good refereeing performance lead to an excellent display of football by both teams. match report from W&DYFL Web site

Brackley Town Saints defeated Carterton Colts 7-1 with Saints goals coming from Sam Hanson (6) and Rhys Crawley. report from W&DYL Web site

13.9.08 Bloxham 4 v 0 Carterton U 9 Colts  reverse fixture

Bloxham's first league match of the season saw a solid performance earn victory against a courageous Carterton Colts team. Logan Blackwell was clearly in a goal scoring mood for Bloxham as his first minute shot struck the bar. Both teams started nervously but soon settled down demonstrating their ability to pass and move the ball from defence to attack. The deadlock was broken mid way through the first half when Logan ran smartly on to a long goal kick from Harry Perkin and finished with his trademark precision. Harry's long range kicking skills were in evidence again shortly after as his return shot from the half way line seemed to sail into the goal leaving Carterton's hard working keeper little chance. Carterton's George Meyer and Ryan Wilson combined well in the first half and regularly attacked Bloxham's goal but they found stout resistance from Ron Castagno, Archie Mallock and the safe hands of Erin Lilley.
The second half started with more fluent passing and movement by both teams and Bloxham skipper Cameron Brown worked tirelessly throughout the second half to spark openings and created chances for himself, Logan and Laurence Grimes. Sam Jones and Ethan Conlon worked hard for Carterton and made it difficult for Bloxham to break through but finally hat-trick hero Logan Blackwell bagged his second-half brace during a concentrated spell of pressure on the Carterton goal.
The atmosphere was terrific and very friendly on both sides - a credit to all parents and supporters.

 6.9.08 Carterton U 9 Colts  1v 1 Kingston Colts

The first match of the season was a rousing encounter between the Colts of both Carterton and Kingston. Kingston were out of the traps quicker than Carterton and were soon pressing the home team back and it was only fine saves by the Carterton keeper that kept out first Scott Ritchie and then Sam Froud. On 12 minutes it looked as though Kingston would take the lead with Sam Gorham cutting inside but his left foot effort was inches over the bar. Carterton rallied and started to push Kingston back and it was only last ditch tackles first by Jack Garbutt and then Marcus Bottomley that prevented Carterton from pressing home their best spell of the match. Pressure kept coming from Carterton and only fine goalkeeping from Tom Forster kept the scores level. But, Carterton weren't to be denied and their number 5 gave them the lead from 8 yards on 13 minutes. Kingston rallied and Luke May came close with a fine turn and shot but again it was just inches to high.
The second half was an even contest with the game flowing from end to end, with both teams pushing forward looking to their make their possession count. With 18 minutes gone Matthew Gardener came on for Kingston and Sam Froud who had worked tirelessly took a well earned breather. Good work by Scott Ritchie for Kingston found Matthew Gardener and it was only sharp reactions from the Carterton keeper that again kept Kingston at bay. But into injury time Jack Garbutt drove forward and whipped in a cross from the right and Mathew Gardener directed the ball past the Carterton keeper. Parity restored and a couple of minutes for both teams to drive forward for the winner. At full time a deserved point for both sides in a well-fought encounter played in an excellent spirit.     Report taken from W&DYL Web site

28.2.09 Duckington 0 v 1 Carterton U 10's

Ducklington welcomed Carterton for another early kick off at Ducklington due to fixture congestion.
Both teams started well and played some good football from the off. As the half developed Carterton were beginning to win the midfield battle but found Ducklington's defence in good form with Finn O'Hickey in the middle and Jamie Francis and Jack Booth supporting. Ducklington created some good chances in the half and Matt Lock and Elliott Heritage worked hard to break down Carterton's well organised defence. The first half finished goal less with the both defences on top of their game.
The second half continued as the first but with Ducklington's Ashley Harding having to come off injured. This provided a debut to Will Thompson on the left and some reorganization in midfield with Jack Booth now in the centre. The game opened up a bit more in the second half with both sides creating half chances and corners. Eventually with only a few minutes to go Carterton broke through from midfield and the shot from James Buchanan was slotted just outside the outstretched arm of Robert Frost. Ducklington stepped up the tempo for the last few minutes with Kieran Fallon now on for Matt Lock and pressured the Carterton defence. Ducklington managed to work a couple of late corners but some good work from Shameer Alam in goal for Carterton kept them out. Despite Ducklington's best efforts in the end it was Carterton who emerge winners in this close fought competition. match report from W&DYFL Web site

17.1.09 Under 10 KO Cup 2nd Rd - Highfield Juniors 0 v 0 Carterton AET .  Carterton won 3-1 on penalties

Following a month-long layoff, both sides were keen to perform well and progress in this Season's cup competition.
With a strong wind behind them, it was the First Division visitors who immediately established a territorial advantage, prompted by James Buchanan and Tom Puddle in the heart of their midfield. They could easily have scored from the kick-off but a fine saving tackle from Dan Stillgoe (the first of many) put paid to that threat. During the first half, Carterton mounted wave after wave of attacks and Highfield found it difficult to mount any serious threat of their own. Despite that, Highfield managed to keep their goal intact. This was due in no small part to a man-of-the-match performance from goalkeeper Ian Trower, who pulled off three excellent saves in the first twenty minutes to deny Puddle, Matthew Dodd and Craig Foster and he was ably supported by Stillgoe and Tyler Andrews.
Having made it to half time scoreless, the home side started the second period with renewed spirit supported by the strong wind and their eager supporters! Prompted by the boundless energy of Mason Courtney in the centre, Calum Pearce and Chris Bateson started to find a little more space down the Highfield flanks and Harry Hosier was able to put the Carterton defensive duo of Leo McLaughlin and Aaron Cook under a lot more pressure. With the game now flowing from end to end and both sides forcing numerous corners, it appeared only a matter of time before the deadlock would be broken. However Ian Trower and Tom Webster in the Carterton goal were both determined not to concede, so even when half chances were created they were soon snuffed out. Responding to the situation, Carterton made two tactical changes in the second period; replacing Craig Foster with Joe Maddalena and Aaron Cook with Rich Russell but it made no change to proceedings. Despite a number of chances, the game finished goalless at the end of normal time, thanks in no small measure to two more outstanding saves from Ian Trower.
In extra time, the pace of the game slowed as the enforced Christmas/New year lay-off started to have an effect on the fitness of both sides. Carterton almost took the lead when a deflected corner clearance from Bateson almost found his own net under pressure from Dodd, but it ricocheted away for a corner of the left-hand upright. At the other end, Hosier almost scored from a fine cross from Pearce, but he was not quite tall enough to bury the chance.
So it was that after 50 pulsating minutes, remarkably, the game had finished goalless and we entered the dreaded penalty shoot-out. Carterton's two previous experiences of such finishes probably stood them in good stead, as their players remained strong under the pressure whereas Highfield's inexperience was found out as three of their first four penalty takers failed to score. In contrast, three of Carterton's first four takers hit the back of the net and so it was that Carterton progressed to the next round. The game was played in an excellent spirit, was well refereed by Phil Andrews and enjoyed immensely by both sets of supporters. match report taken from W&DYFL Web site

29.11.08 Tower Hill 2 v 0 Carterton U 10's

An early start on a damp and cold morning as Tower Hill took on local rivals Carterton. Tower had to make changes to their team due to players being away Riley Stokes starting his first league game of the season in goal and Ryan 'rocket' Lanksford began up front with Joey Aust dropping into midfield.
Carterton began the more lively forcing Tower to defend in numbers. Tower were hit with another change as Bradley Evans limped off being replaced by Johnny Garray, which meant Jordan Garrett was put into centre midfield. Tower were finding it hard to get hold of the ball and no sooner did they clear the ball they found Carterton attacking forcing numerous corners, where they always looked dangerous. Chances were few in the opening half but Riley Stokes in goal was on his game to prevent at least two certain goals the half time score 0-0.
Tower were able to bring on Nathan Kimber in the second half to replace Rocket thus allowing Joey Aust to maintain his usual position as striker. With the added threat on the wing Tower took the game to Carterton forcing the visitors on the back foot. The deadlock was broken when a long range shot by Nathan Kimber was delicately flicked into the net by Joey Aust.Carterton fought back to attempt to level the scores but Tower defended stoutly, then another long range shot by Towers Jordan Garrett was once again flicked past the keeper by Joey Aust to get his second 2-0 Tower. Both teams continued to push forward but were denied by some good strong challenges and on one such occasion Carterton's James Buchanan (JIMBO) came off worse and had to be replaced. The final whistle blown meant Tower had got back into winning ways.
Tower wish James all the best and hope his injury isn't as bad as first feared. Congratulations to both teams. Tower Hill's man of the match was Jordan Garrett. match report from W&DYFL Web site

15.11.08 Under-10 Knock-Out Cup - 1st Round - Bampton Town 0 v 1 Carterton U 10's

8.11.08 Carterton U 10's 4 v 2 Bloxham

The two teams, separated by alphabetical order sat in 3rd and 4th in the league; so everything was to play for. Bloxham won the toss and opted to play with the wind first half. Carterton started strongly and within the first minute Craig Foster gave the home tam a dream start. Plenty of good passing football resulted in Carteton being awarded a free kick outside the box. James Buchanan stepped up and slotted the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-0 at the break.
Bloxham came out strong but the defensive duo of Aaron Cook and Shaheer Alam continued to do a good job controlling the energetic Alfie O’Sullivan and Jacob Bedlow, however, with only five minute of the second half gone Luke Hall hit a good shot to bring Bloxham back into the game. Carterton didn’t lose heart and the good work of MOTM Leo McLoughlin earned another free kick on the left hand side. James Buchanan’s shot looked destined for the top corner, but Owen Dady pulled off a fine save. Unfortunately for him the ball fell loose and Tom puddle was the quickest to react poking the ball home. Carterton’s fourth was a delight. A pass out of defense was moved forward with speed and accuracy. Six passes later the ball fell to Craig Foster inside the box to slot home his second. Bloxham continued to threaten but good saves from Matt Dodd kept them at bay. Carterton were relieved to get a free kick on the edge of their own box. It didn’t relieve the pressure though. Alfie O’Sullivan charged down the free kick taking a powerful shot full in the face. The ball fell for Jacob Bedlow who took the ball on and slotted the ball under the advancing Matt Dodd. An excellent game of football finished 4-2, well done both teams. match report by Iian Buchanan

18.10.08 Bampton Town 0 v 1 Carterton U 10's

Bampton got the match underway and started briskly but Carterton were quick on the counter and forced an early corner. Craig Foster put the ball in for the visitors and Aaron Cook headed just wide. Bampton responded with some great running down the wing but Shaheer Alam halted the attack with strong defending. Bampton pressed again, putting the Carterton defence under pressure and earning a corner for their efforts. The corner was put in well and a great header from the home side drifted just wide of the Carterton goal. Carterton pushed up for the goal kick and Bampton defended strongly, putting the ball out for a corner. A well delivered corner found James Buchanan on the edge of the box whose shot was well held by the Bampton keeper. The home side kept the pressure on and Leo MacLaughlin made a crucial interception to break up the attack. Both sides battled strongly in midfield and Bampton were unlucky not to break the stalemate with a great shot that was pushed wide by Matthew Dodd in the Carterton goal. As half-time approached, Carterton got the ball through to Craig Foster whose powerful shot was pushed away by the Bampton keeper, but only as far as James Buchanan, who shot just wide of the post.
The home side got the ball to their number 10 who released a fantastic shot that drifted just over the bar. The referee blew for half-time with the score at 0:0.
Carterton got the second-half underway but were immediately on the back foot. Bampton earned another corner which was well collected by Matthew Dodd. A quick goal kick found James Buchanan who turned on the ball and released a shot that skimmed the post. James was put in again moments later but was denied by some fine goalkeeping from the Bampton keeper. Carterton maintained the pressure, forcing a corner. Craig Foster delivered a great corner that was superbly finished by Tom Puddle to break the deadlock. Bampton responded positively from the restart and the Carterton defence had to work hard to keep them at bay. As the home side pushed for an equaliser, Carterton found space to break, with Leo MacLaughlin shooting just wide and James Buchanan following suit moments later. Bampton pressured until the final whistle and were unlucky not to get a point from a great display of football. match report by Rob Maddalena

27.9.08 Launton Boys 1 v 1 Carterton U U 10's

The teams took to the field with the early mist clearing on what promised to be another fine September day for the beautiful game.
Carterton got the game underway brightly and pushed forward quickly to earn an early corner. The clearance was picked up by Aaron Cook who fed a great ball to James Buchanan who shot just wide. Leo MacLaughlin and Tom Puddle linked up well for Carterton and sent Craig Foster (MoM) on a great run. Launton defended well and countered strongly, forcing a great save from Matt Dodd in the Carterton goal. Carterton pushed forward again but the Launton defence remained strong and rallied well to clear 3 consecutive corners. Aaron Cook battled in midfield and made space for a great shot that was saved by the Launton keeper, who also denied James Buchanan moments later. Tom Puddle lofted the ball in from the far right and watched as it took a deflection towards the Launton goal, only to glance off the woodwork. The resulting corner was floated in towards Shaheer Alam, who lifted it up for James Buchanan whose flicked shot brushed the outside of the post. Launton pushed forward again and Leo MacLaughlin made a great interception to keep the pressure off and force another Carterton corner. The clearance landed to Shaheer Alam who connected with it well, but Launton’s in-form keeper saved again. Launton mounted a strong attack in the dying seconds of the half but Carterton’s defence remained strong.
Launton got the game underway for the second half and pushed forward strongly, forcing a great save from Matt Dodd. The home side kept the pressure on Carterton and a fantastic goal line clearance by Aaron Cook denied them an opener. Carterton countered and earned a free-kick just outside the Launton area. Launton defended well and pushed up field, a great shot from the home side skimmed the fingers of the Carterton keeper and found the back of the net. Carterton pushed forward at the restart, and a break in the play saw Tom Puddle replaced by Joe Maddalena on the right wing. With the clock ticking, Carterton pushed up field again. Craig Foster was almost rewarded for his hard running when he was put in for a shot that agonisingly whistled inches over the bar. It was looking like the visitors would have to wait another week to net a goal when Carterton pressured again, and fed a ball through to James Buchanan. James took the ball out wide, past the Launton defence and curled a fantastic shot past the keeper to level the score.
The game was balanced on a knife-edge as Carterton maintained the pressure up to the final whistle. The teams left the field to rapturous applause from the fans, and a point a piece from a fantastic game of football. Match report by Rob Maddalena

20.9.08 Carterton U U 10's 0 v 2 Ducklington

A bright sunny September morning greeted the teams and fans, and expectations were high from the home side following their win the previous Saturday.
Ducklington started briskly, forcing Carterton to defend from the kick-off. Aaron Cook cleared the ball upfield for Carterton, setting James Buchanan off on a great run, but solid Ducklington defending saw the ball back in Carterton's half and cleared for a Ducklington throw in. A long high throw into the box resulted in a great headed goal from Ducklington. The restart saw Carterton applying some pressure with a long range shot from Craig Foster drifting wide and a driving shot from Matthew Dodd saved. James Buchanan saw his shot drift agonizingly over the bar and Ducklington defended strongly to keep Carterton at bay. Ducklington pushed forward again and Carterton put the ball out for a Ducklington corner. A great corner kick was headed home past the outstretched hands of Joe Maddalena in the Carterton goal, and the visitors doubled their lead.
A midfield battle ensued with Shaheer Alam (MOM) and Leo MacLaughlin battling bravely and making some excellent challenges. Carterton's first corner of the game came late in the first half. The ball was floated in well by Matthew Dodd, but no one able to capitalize. Ducklington countered strongly and Leo MacLaughlin made a crucial interception to halt the attack. The half ended with a scramble at the Ducklington end, but strong defending denied Carterton a goal.
The second half opened as the first, with Ducklington making the early running. Carterton's counter resulted in a shot from Craig Foster that teased the far post. Another chance from Shaheer Alam drifted wide and you had to start thinking it was going to be one of those games for the home side. Ducklington pressured again and earned a corner that was cleared for the counter, but the visitor's defence was too strong. Matthew Dodd made way for Tom Puddle and another shot from Shaheer Alam forced a Carterton corner. Ducklington's defence remained solid and they countered again. Aaron Cook was replaced by Charlie Mcennis, but the home defence were immediately under pressure again, forcing a corner. Ducklington's shot from the corner was saved and the kick-out found James Buchanan, who's shot was well held by the Ducklington keeper. Ducklington kept the pressure on and Joe Maddalena made a great double save to deny them their third. Carterton were awarded a free kick in the dying minutes of the game and Charlie Mcennis struck it well, but Carterton were unable to put it away, denied by the woodwork. Chances for Tom Puddle and Craig Foster took us to the final whistle, and a well organized Ducklington team took a deserved win.  Match report by Rob Maddalena

 13.9.08 Cumnor Minors 1 v 7 Carterton U 10's

A sunny morning at the close saw an excellent team performance from Carterton. The scoring was opened by the influential Craig Foster. He made a break down the right wing and shot from the edge of the box. The keeper was unfortunate with the ball sliding between his legs. Carterton continued to press and goals soon came for Tom Puddle and Matt Dodd both scoring from close range. Craig Foster then went on another of his runs beating players on the wing before finding himself one on one with the keeper. He calmly and selflessly squared the ball for the supporting Matt Dodd who slid the ball into an empty net.
Half time did nothing to slow the Carterton team with James Buchanan getting himself a well deserved goal. Charlie McEnnis and Connor Clement came on to replace Tom Puddle and Craig Foster; who had both worked tirelessly for the team. Cumnor Minors battled on and were rewarded with a goal after a good strike from outside the box. Carterton pressed forward again and soon MOTM Matt Dodd got the sixth goal to complete his hatrick. He came off to be replaced by Joe Maddalena. James Buchanan then got a second before being replaced by Tom Webster. Aaron Cook was unfortunate not to score, hitting both the post and crossbar. An excellent game of football with Cumnor never giving up. match report by Iian Buchanan.

6.9.08 Carterton U 10's 1 v 3 Tower Hill

A very entertaining game was played by both sides on the opening game of the season. Carterton started the game more lively and had the better chances in the first half but thanks to a good save by Towers keeper Harry Edwards the score remained 0-0 at half time.
Tower had to change goalkeepers at half time and Riley Stokes was soon in the thick of the action making a great point blank save to deny Carterton the lead. Tower then started to put more pressure on the home team. A good break down the left hand side let Towers Nathan Kimber beat a couple of defenders to calmly slot the ball past the keeper to give Tower the lead. Carterton came back strongly looking for the equaliser , but were caught on the break , a deflected shot being headed in by Bradley Evans to make it 2-0.Carterton attacked straight from kick off and pulled a goal back to make it 2-1 ,thus leaving a nervy last 5 minutes to play. Then up stepped Towers Nathan Kimber who hit a cracking shot giving Carterton's keeper no chance leaving the final score Tower Hill 3-1 winners.
Congratulations to both sides for an entertaining game played in a great spirit by these two local teams. Towers man of the match was Nathan Kimber.     Report taken from W&DYFL Web site

Witney Vikings finished off a difficult season with a hard fought win at Carterton. In windy conditions goalie Oli Deans and defenders Louis Beresford and Ed Woods stood firm especially in the first half when playing into the wind.
All the goals came in the space of six minutes in the second half. Sub Danny McGarry put Witney in front before Carterton equalised. A superb run rounding the keeper enabled Josh Walkington to net the winner. Captain Tom Alty rallied the Witney boys to stand firm in the last few minutes which included a goal line clearance by Alex Blencowe. Tommy Matthews kept battling to the end.

Difficult underfoot conditions did not stop this match being played in a very good spirit. Early on Tom Alty turned and shot only to see the post deny him. There then followed a period of pressure from Carterton with all Carterton players playing well and pressing hard. A move down the left ended with Alex Blencowe shooting low from the edge of the box to put Witney in front. Josh Walkington and Louis Beresford at the back for Winey together with keeper Oli Deans withstood a lot of pressure to keep Witney one up at half time.
In the second half Ed Woods and sub Freddie Greenan with Tom Alty held it together in midfield for Witney ably supported by Tommy Matthews up front and Witney were the stronger at the end.

The boys second game of the season saw a hard fought and very equal match that deservedly ended in a draw.  The entire match was end to end and was a real treat for all the spectators who saw an excellent game of football.  Carterton took the lead on 3 mins when Jai Smith run onto an execellent pass from Ryan Lock and hit the ball into the top of the net with a thunderous right footed shot that opened up his and Carterton's goal account for the season.  Sam Thompson was flawless in the midfield with some excellent tackling and cover play that kept Wychwood in their own half.  Jordan Clack playing as lone striker was always a problem for the home side.  Captain of the day Cameron Tweedle was phenomenal in goal.  Especially after a mis-timed tackle led to a penalty to Wychwood.  Cameron kept his composure and saved the spot kick with a leaping dive to the left to deny Wychwood the equaliser.  However the equalising goal came two minutes from full time when  a corner to Wychwood was thumped into Cartertons goal to deny them their first league win of the season.
Full Time: Wychwood 1 - 1 Carterton
All the boys were excellent and choosing a Player of the Match was really difficult. Player of the match did go to Jai Smith for his non stop attacking and defending.  Next week the boys are away to Charlbury.  If the boys work as hard as they did today, then that first league win of the season will not be far away. match report by Karl Curl.

25.4.09 Carterton U 11's 2 v 2 Ducklington

Ducklington travelled the short distance to Carterton for this their final match of the season.
The match started brightly and it was clear that this was a game that either team could win. Ducklington were the first to score when Daniel Townsend collected a return pass from Connor Newcombe from his own corner to slot the ball in the back of the net. Carterton soon struck back to level the score and honours remained even as the teams went in 1-1 at half time.
Ducklington then had a perfect start to the second half when some good passing from Connor Newcombe and Ben Delnevo resulted in a goal for Rowan Prosser . Carterton however , weren't to be beaten and soon equalised 2-2. The game continued to be evenly matched with both sides having opportunities, however neither could break the deadlock and the game ended 2-2.

18.4.09 Carterton U 11's 5 v 2 Bloxham

Carterton got of to a great start and were soon 2-0 up. Bloxham dug deep and with 10 minutes to half time Brandon Haden found striking partner Craig Charles free on the left and Craig scored with a well placed shot. Minutes later Bloxham equalised when a Jack Welch corner found Nick Deeley in space. His shot looked goal bound, but Brandon Haden made sure.
Bloxham started the second half well but could find a way past the Carterton keeper. Carterton broke and restored their lead. With time running out Bloxham threw caution to the wind and played 3 at the back. Carterton held firm and found two more goals to settle the game.

4.4.09 Carterton U 11's 1 v 3 Bicester Town Colts

Bicester kept the pressure on Tower Hill at the top of a league, with a hard fought win at Carterton. Bicester were missing a few key players, and had a couple more playing with injuries, so this was always going to be a tough game.
Carterton battled hard in midfield and defended well, and it was some time before Bicester managed to take the lead. It came from a great pass by Ben Lewis, which set Charlie West away on the right hand side. Charlie composed himself and scored at the near post. Carterton were playing up hill and against the wind, and they struggled to get into the Bicester penalty area in the first half. Eventually Bicester increased their lead when Ryan O'Connor slipped the ball through to Joe Beech, who ran past two defenders and passed to Jordan Bedford for a simple finish. Bicester finished the half 2-0 up.
Bicester managed to carry on where they left off in the first half, applying good early pressure, but Carterton were more of a threat with the wind behind them, and Bicester had to be wary of the counter attack. The away side increased their lead, when an accurate free kick from Connor Mellor found Charlie West on the right, who ran into the area and coolly chipped the ball over the outrushing keeper. The home side were 3-0 down, but they never gave in. They pushed forward and managed to peg Bicester back without creating too many clear cut chances. Bevan Starrett was coming out of his area well and claiming anything which carried in the wind. and he also had to dive bravely at the feet of Steven Coleman, when it looked like Carterton might score. Carterton eventually managed to get back into the game when a great through ball by Paddy Collett found Steven Coleman in an advanced position. Steven raced clear of the Bicester defence and coolly slotted the ball home. Carterton applied further pressure on Bicester in search of a second goal, but the Bicester defence stayed strong and Bicester ran out 3-1 winners.
Man of the match for Carterton was Charlie Smith, who was outstanding in defence. Bicester's man of the match was Bevan Starrett, whose handling was assured in the Bicester goal. Well done to both teams on a great match. match report from W&DYFL

28.3.09 Carterton u 11s 1 v 1 Chippy Town Swifts

7.3.09 Carterton U 11 1 v 4 Tower Hill

A mild, pleasant morning for Tower to make the short trip to local rivals Carterton.
A lively start to the game as the first few minutes saw a Redd Pratley shot go wide before the hosts first attack caught Tower off guard. Tower had chances to clear their lines but failed to do so and paid the price as the Carterton striker shot home from the edge of the area. The visitors had plenty of possession with Calum McGinness, Redd Pratley, Ed Rick and the impressive James Morgan all going close. Although playing into a stiff wind Tower never really got into their stride so went in at the break 1-0 down.
The second half saw the visitors play with much more verve and purpose than the first. Eliot Braggins and James O'Sullivan pulled all the strings in the centre of the park, feeding clever balls through for the strike force to feed off. James Morgan had threatened to drag Tower back into the game and he did just that by first heading home from a corner to make it 1-1 and then a great finish with a chipped shot to make it 2-1. At this point the hosts were pinned back into their own half but were defending bravely by throwing themselves in the way of everything. Neither this, or the excellent goalkeeping of Reiss Howard could prevent further goals though. Redd Pratley broke clear and drew the keeper before slotting home to make it 3-1 on 46 minutes. A few minutes later and Tom Oddy had just reward for his hard work as he broke clear and finished well to conclude the scoring. Whenever Carterton did break forward they found the solid defence of Finn Saunders, Matt Knapton, Alec Newman and James Scott in no mood to concede.
Well done to both teams for a game played in the right spirit throughout. Tower went home the happier with a hard fought win though Carterton should be proud of their hard work as they never gave up. Tower Man of the Match awards went to James Morgan for his outstanding wing play and James O'Sullivan for a dogged midfield display.

After weeks of cancelled games Freeland were eager to perform and within 15 seconds of kick of they were one-up with a goal from Kieran Andrews. The first half was dominated by Freeland as two further goals from Rhys Noel put them in the driving seat.
The second half saw Carterton attempt to turn the tide and they had several chances to score, but it was Freeland's Rhys Noel who got the only goal completing his hatrick. match report from W&DYFL Web site

6.12.08 Tower Hill 9 v 1Carterton U 11's

A beautiful winter's morning at Burwell Meadow, perfect for football and a near perfect performance from Tower Hill in their last league fixture of the year. Carterton started brightly in the opening exchanges as Tower failed to get into their rhythm. This changed quite suddenly though on 7 minutes as Ed Rick's delightful through ball found Calum McGinness homing in on goal and he made no mistake in drilling home after drawing the keeper. Tower went two up on 17 minutes with an exquisite lob over the keeper from a tight angle by Finn Saunders. It was Finn who turned provider next as his shot didn't quite make it over the line and Calum McGinness was on hand to tap in for 3-0. Tower were now playing with great confidence with James Morgan back to his best on the right wing and Max Hazel also a threat on the left. More shots rained in from Eliot Braggins, James Morgan and Max Hazel which the keeper and his defenders did well to keep out before Calum McGinness broke through to score again from Alec Newman's threaded ball through the heart of the defence. Finn Saunders wrapped up a good half from Tower by shooting home after good work from Max Hazel. 5-0 to Tower at half-time.
The second half began in a similar fashion despite Tower ringing the changes. Tom Oddy's shot was well saved before James Morgan got a deserved goal after good build up play. Max Hazel also got his due reward with a storming run and shot which gave the keeper no chance to make it 7-0. Harry Thomson then got in on the act with 2 goals in as many minutes the first of which involved a classy turn and shot in the area. Carterton were not finished though as they forced a free-kick within shooting range which was well struck and well saved by Tower's second half keeper Jack Wood, whilst regular Keeper Macaulay Lewis enjoyed a roving wing back role. With a few minutes to go the visitors got a deserved consolation goal as Steven Coleman broke through to give the keeper no chance. Well done to the visitors for keeping going and showing great spirit despite coming up against an in-form Tower side. Tower Man of the Match awards went to Matty Knapton for a classy and composed performance at the back and Max Hazel who had his best game yet.
Tower scorers: Calum McGinness (3), Finn Saunders (2), James Morgan, Max Hazel and Harry Thomson. Carterton scorer: Steven Coleman. match report taken from WP&DYFL Web site

22.11.08 Under-11 Knock-Out Cup - 1st Round - Banbury Town Youth 9 v 0 Carterton U 11's

Fantastic football skills on display from both these under 11 teams. The football is really coming together in this first season of 11 aside for these boys. The eagerness and determination to win was outstanding from both teams.
Banbury Town were keen to open the score sheet and soon did with a goal coming from Luke Wetherall. Carterton came back working Banbury's defence but the ball for them would not hit the back of the net. Banbury had shot after shot and at half time the score was 4-0 to Banbury, one of these goals, sadly for Carterton was and own goal.
Second half and it was more of the same outstanding football. The football was end to end but it was Banbury who were getting the goals. Carterton were playing some great football and were putting a lot of effort in but could not break Banbury's defence, which as always was rock solid.
The final score was a fantastic 9-0 to Banbury and Man of the match for Banbury was well deserved and went to Luke Wetherall. match report from W&DYFL Web site

15.11.08 Freeland 4 v 3 Carterton U 11's

Two well matched sides faced each other on a wet Freeland pitch. Freeland took the lead via a mix up in the box and an own goal from Lewis Denbow put Freeland one-up. Carterton soon drew level. this seemed to spur Freeland on with goals from Rhys Noel and Luke Holesi. Just before the half time whistle Carterton got a goal back.
The second half saw Carterton draw level and with time running out a draw looked a fair result but Gus Watts saw his chance and smashed the ball in the net to give Freeland all 3 points. match report from W&DYFL Web site

27.9.08 Wychwood Rovers 2 v 3 Carterton u 11's

A wonderful Wychwood summer morning greeted the two teams at Milton. The visiting team started the sharpest and opened the scoring after seven minutes. Rovers fought back to parity with a sweet strike from the left foot of Harry Hawtin levelling things. Ever present defending by Shaun Clarke, Bill Wallace and George Ford kept the Carterton strikers out at a comfortable distance whilst Wychwood broke away with menace.
Two well taken Carterton goals just before and after half time gave the visitors what looked like a comfortable lead. However, a howitzer from Hawtin had Carterton rocking back on their heels at 2-3. Try as they might though, the Wychwood strikers could not put another past the brave Carterton keeper and it was the visitors that took home the three points. match report by Bill Jenkins

20.9.08 Bloxham 4 v 2 Carterton U 11's

After two successive games called off due to the wet weather, Bloxham finally got their 11 a side season going with a visit by last years C league champions Carterton. On what could only be described as a beautiful sunny morning, with the dew sparkling in the sunshine, the conditions & pitch were near perfect for football.
Bloxham were quick out of the blocks with some nice quick attacking play and were rewarded in the 3rd minute when Nick Deeley got the ball out wide to Luke Barton, who cut inside and sent a low shot across the face of the goal. Carterton’s goalkeeper, Reiss Howard, managed to get a hand to the ball, only to see it fall into the path of Lewis Bletchley who tapped home from 6 yards. Bloxham continued with their quick passing football and were held at bay by some fine saves by Reiss. In the 16th minute a poor clearance was cut out by Brandon Haden, who cut inside two defenders and doubled Bloxham’s lead with a cool near post finish. Brandon though he had his second when Luke Barton sent in a great right wing cross and Brandon headed the ball into the net, only for it to be ruled out for offside. With some stern defending by Jack Welch, Oliver Foley & William Thompson, Carterton were finding it hard to break down a strong Bloxham defence. In the 25th minute, Bloxham right back, Andrew MacLennan cut out another Carterton attack and sent midfielder Jack Gill away into space on the right. Jack played a nice 1-2 with Luke, and then sent a high 25 yard shot into the back of the Carterton goal. With half time approaching Bloxham striker Craig Charles broke free of the Carterton defence and one on one with the keeper, Reiss made another fantastic save. Half time 3 – 0.
With the bright sun zapping the boys’ energy Bloxham made a few half time changes and it didn’t take long for them to be rewarded. Within a minute of the restart, George Hall played the ball in to Jake Knapton who turned the defender, rounded the keeper and from a tight wide angle slotted the ball into the goal. Owen Humphreys and Taylar Ross were now providing space on the Bloxham wings and Luke Barton slotting into right back, Bloxham continued to look in control of the game. Carterton, however, had something to say about that. Slowly they began to get into the game and were rewarded when a 20 yard shot by Paddy Collett went beyond Bloxham keeper, William Adams, and into the top corner of the goal. Carterton continued to apply the pressure and it wasn’t long before they scored their second. James Clarke picked up a lose ball and jinked left, then right past 2 defenders and finished with a crisp shot. Bloxham began to look nervous and only a fine save by William Adams and two goal line clearances by Jack Welch denied Carterton more goals. With time running out, Carterton continued to press forward and were caught by a quick Bloxham attack, but again striker Brandon found goalkeeper Reiss in superb form. Carterton Man of the Match was James Clark.    match report by Bill Jenkins

13.9.08 Bicester Town Colts 7 v 1 Carterton U 11's

This was the first game of the season for both teams. There wasn't a hint of rain in the air as the game kicked-off...amazing! The first half was a tight affair, with both teams looking threatening on the break. The teams were adapting well to 11-a-side football, and defences were definitely on top, but it was Bicester who took the lead from a well taken goal by Jayden Davies. Bicester were 1-0 up at the break.
Carterton started the second half strongly, and looked as though they might equalise, but Bicester held on and eventually increased their lead with another good finish from Jayden Davies. Carterton were not deterred and they were rewarded for their efforts, when a Gareth Jenkins long distance shot crept in at the far post. Carterton pushed on, looking for the equaliser; but they found themselves further behind after a strong run and finish by Charlie West. Bicester's 4th goal soon followed, when Jamie Palmer latched on to a loose ball on the edge of the area, and let fly with an unstoppable shot. Two more well taken goals from Charlie West completed his hat-trick and Jayden Davies completed the scoring with his hat-trick goal late on.
The game was played in a good spirit and both teams should be congratulated on the standard of football they produced. Bicester's man of the match was Connor Mellor for his impeccable defensive display.    match report taken from W&DYL Web site

2.5.09 Brackley Town Sports 0 v 1 Carterton U 11 Colts

Carterton made the journey to Brackley today for the anticipated match against some tough opponents. However the Colts seemed in no mood to lose this match. Initially Carterton looked slightly shaky but soon found their feet and went on the attack. They very early on got the upper hand over their opponents and managed to boss the whole game.
Carterton got an early opportunity to go into the lead with a penalty being awarded against Brackley. Josh Herbert stepped up to take the penalty, but the Brackley keeper pulled of a fine save to deny the Colts. Undeterred by this missed chance the Colts continued attacking and when Brackley did counter attack Carterton’s defence remained well disciplined and stood firm.
Another chance came to Carterton when some excellent work from Jack Davies, who twisted and turned down the right wing and put in a lovely cross which zipped across the goal mouth, unfortunately Thomas Harvey could not capitalise and put the ball wide of the goal. (The ball possibly taking an unlucky bounce from a divot!)
At half time the score remained 0 – 0.
The second half continued as the 1st ended with some dominate play from Carterton. Although they had a lot of the play Brackley’s defence where excellent in snuffing out any chances Carterton created.
After 11 minutes a correct, but rather harsh decision by the referee gave Carterton a free kick inside the penalty box, which Josh Herbert blasted into the net. Carterton got the lead they had deserved; let’s hope they could keep hold of it.
With 10 minutes to go Kieran Dingle came on for Bradley Allen who had had a good game and been solid in defence, and slotted into the defensive line easily and made some important challenges in defence.
As the end of the match loomed Brackley intensified their efforts to get a goal back and created some trouble down the right hand side of the pitch, but Carterton held firm and with some positive encouragement from the fraught spectators (well Spike “come on Carterton” Matthews did) held on to their one goal advantage and got a well deserved win.
Well done to both teams for a very good match

25.4.09 Deddington Colts 4 v 4 Carterton U 11 Colts

A classic tale of two halves saw this thrilling encounter end all square as Deddington played host to Carterton in the under 11's A League.
Despite Carterton starting the stronger it was Deddington who took an early lead. Ollie Roberts found himself one on one with the Carterton keeper and there was only ever going to be on outcome as Ollie continued his scoring run after last weeks hatrick against Brackley, calmly striking the ball into the far corner. Carterton then dominated the rest of the half and an excellent passage of play saw them score 3 goals to take a well deserved 3-1 lead at half time.
A complete reversal of the first half then followed as Deddington took control of the second half. Ollie Roberts again found himself in space after a superb through ball by Deddington captain Lewis Bullard and a neat finish bought Deddington back into the game. The scores were soon level when James Hunt headed in from a corner superbly delivered by Lewis Bullard. A Carterton own goal soon after saw Deddington take the lead 4-3, another fantastic corner from Lewis Bullard again found James Hunt whose header was knocked in by a Carterton defender trying to clear his line. Unfortunately Deddington could not hang on to the win as Carterton went on to equalise with only seconds left on the clock, leaving the final score 4-4. match report from W&DYFL Web site

28.3.09 Bampton Town 2 v 2 Carterton U 11 Colts

A blustery wind dominated the game in a competitive match between these local rivals.
Carterton Colts started with the wind on their backs, and after a good first five minutes from Bampton gained more and more possession and territory as the half progressed. It took until the 12th minute for the deadlock to be broken as Bampton failed to clear and Lewis Smith took full advantage, beating two defenders and finishing strongly into the bottom corner. The second goal came seven minutes later as Carterton picked up possession outside the area and a shot from Jack Cameron lobbed over the keeper into the far corner. Bampton continued to battle hard in defence and kept the score to 2-0 at half time after a great opportunity to pull one back just before ½ time when through one-on-one was missed narrowly wide.
The second half was a mirror image of the first as Bampton camped in the Carterton half for long periods. It took eleven minutes for the breakthrough to come, after Euan Rossie and Karl Prichard had both shot narrowly wide Jake Prichard got the goal Bampton deserved with a neat flick and powerful shot over the keeper. Bampton kept the pressure up and after 51 minutes a cross from Matt Pilkington caused confusion in the Carterton defence and the ball ran through to Karl Prichard who had a tap in to draw the sides level. Both sides went looking for the winner, but couldn't find a breakthrough. Well refereed by Chris Morris.
.Scorers: Bampton - Jake Prichard, Karl Prichard. Carterton: Jack Cameron, Lewis Smith. match report taken from W&DYFL Web site

21.3.09 Carterton U 11 Colts 3 v 1 Launton Boys

28.2.09 Carterton U 11 Colts 8 v 0 Charlton & District

Carterton Colts were at home again this week hosting Charlton & District. A win for the Colts today could see them go to the table.
Colts seemed in a determined mood today to try and build on last weeks win and they soon secured the victory they wanted with a hat-trick for both Miles and Lewis and 2 from Thomas.
Well done to both teams and especially for Charlton for their endeavour and commitment for the full 60 minutes.

21.2.09 Carterton U 11 Colts 2 v 0 Enstone Sports

Carterton Colts were hosting Enstone Boys on a lovely warm day at home. Carterton kicked off and for the early part of the match Colts were camped in Enstone’s half and after only 10 minutes of play Mahir struck the sweetest of shots from about 25yds which looped over the keeper and hit the back of the net. Colts carried on attacking but despite the pressure they were placing on Enstone could not find another goal. Enstone for their part were showing some good resilient defending no more so than on 26 minutes Jack Davies hit a well aimed shot that was headed off the line from one of the Enstone’s defenders. At half time the score remained 1 – nil to the Colts.
After the break the game seemed to even up slightly with both teams having a few chances. Enstone made a couple of clean breaks that saw some good covering from Josh Knibbs and a good save from Sam Baldwin. Despite some good attacking play Colts still could not seem to find the goal that would put the game to bed, then finally with 3 minutes to go Lewis Smith made a good break and coolly slotted home the winner.
Although this was a win for Carterton, both teams should be congratulated for their effort and enthusiasm in making an enjoyable game of football.

 31.1.09 Carterton U 11 Colts 2 v 3 Middleton Cheney

Finally there was a break in the winter chill and the pitch had thawed out enough to allow the match against Middleton Cheney to go ahead.
Carterton kicked off and started the game brightly, instantly going on the attack. Within the first 10 minutes the Colts had 3 good chances on goal, none of which could find the back of the net.  Middleton Cheney who had been pinned in their half for quite a while and had soaked up a lot of pressure made a break and managed to earn a free kick on the edge of the box. From the free kick Colts failed to clear the ball and a well struck shot looped in to the back of the net. Against the run of play Middleton was one goal to the good. After 25 minutes Middleton again made a break and another excellent shot resulted in a goal. Things were now looking grim for the Colts who desperately needed a goal before half time. In the last minute of the 1st half Colts won a corner and as the ball was whipped into the box a goal mouth scramble ensued which found the ball crossing the goal line, bringing the Colts back in to the game.
As the 2nd half started Colts again went on the attack, but still could not find another goal to tie the match. Then after 15 minutes Middleton took their chance well again and scored their 3rd goal of the day.
Colts carried on trying to find a way back in to the match and eventually got a break through with Lewis scoring on 20 minutes. With a renewed determination Colts tried to press on and get another goal but alas this was not to be and the game finished 3 – 2 to Middleton Cheney.

6.12.08 Highfield Juniors 0 v 2 Carterton U 11 Colts

Carterton traveled to Highfield Juniors today for the 1st meeting between the 2 teams. Carterton got the match underway, but in typical Colts style were slow to respond to the pace of the match. Within the 3rd minute Thomas Harvey cleared the ball of the goal line, hopefully this would wake up the Colt’s, sadly this was not the case and the half continued very evenly between both teams. Despite both sides having some chances the half ended 0-0.
The second half started and almost immediately Carterton played some attractive football. They now started to pass the ball between themselves and produced some good attacking football. Almost immediately Jack Cameron found himself wide on the touchline and crossed/shot a speculative looping ball in to the back off the net. The goal must surely go down as one of Jack’s best yet. This goal changed the complexity of the match and the Colt’s now had their tails up and continued pressuring Highfield. Carterton now had quite a few chances but Highfield’s defence stood firm, but surely it would only be a matter of time before another goal was scored. And on 20 minutes the defence was breached with a lovely through ball from Lewis Smith to Richard Matthews who easily beat the keeper (who had produced some superb saves) to make it 2 – 0.
Although a cliché, this was definitely a game of two half’s. If the Colt’s could keep up their second half performance they will be hard to beat for the rest of the season.
Well-done boys on your second half peformance. match report by Craig Harvey

22.11.08 Under-11 Knock-Out Cup - 1st Round - Carterton U 11 Colts 0 v 0 Middleton Cheney      Middleton Cheney Won 5-4 on penalties

A close match was expected after a very close 1 nil win for Middleton Cheney in an earlier league match and so it proved to be. Carterton played with the wind in the first half and created a number of half chances, the Middleton keeper proving to be a match for any on target shots. Middleton battled hard, but did not create much.
Second half was a mirror image of the first, but with Middleton applying more pressure and creating a few half chances. Carterton’s best hope being to catch Middleton on the break.
The match was however dominated by fine defending and both sets of Defenders can claim to have had the better of the match.
Penalties are always a lottery and unfortunately although neither side deserved to loose, as always, one must. If ever there was a game deserving of a reply, this was it. (Unfortunately it will be later in the season at the same ground in the League).
Middleton should be complimented for the accuracy of all their spot kicks, not giving the Carterton keeper even a sniff of a chance to save. Middleton triumphed 5 to 4.
Congratulations to both sides for their commitment and endeavor. The game was enjoyed by both sets of supporters. Best of luck to Middleton in the next round.Match report: Mark Knibbs

15.11.08 Enstone Stports 0 v 4 Carterton U 11 Colts

 8.11.08 Carterton U 11 Colts 2 v 1 Deddington Colts

Carterton Colts hosted Deddington at home today and despite a steady downpour an hour before kick off the pitch was in good condition.
As the match kicked off Deddington settled on the ball quicker than Carterton and instantly put them under a lot of pressure. Carterton seemed at sixes and sevens and Deddington struck quickly with a goal inside 10 minutes. Throughout the 1st half Carterton struggled to gain any useful possession and fortunately for Carterton, Deddington failed to increase their lead.
During the second half Carterton found their feet and started to make in-roads into the Deddington half and started to apply pressure to the Deddington defence. After 10 minutes the breakthrough came in the form of Lewis Smith who nimbly dodged the defence and struck a lovely ball into the back of the net. From here it was mainly all Carterton who had lifted their game and now sensed a win was on the cards.
Shortly after the 1st goal Lewis found himself slotting home his second goal of the match after some lovely play from Jack Cameron, who crossed the ball to Jack Davies who took a shot at goal, the Deddington goal keeper made a good save but was unlucky to drop the ball, which resulted in a simple tap in for Lewis.
Carterton could have had more but for several missed chances, including an open goal!
Despite Deddington’s hard work and playing some good football Carterton scraped a win, but as the saying goes “they all count”.

1.11.08  Charlton & District 0 v 7 Carterton U 11 Colts

18.10.08 Middleton Cheney 1 v 0 Carterton U 11 Colts

Carterton Colts made the long journey for our 1st meeting to the relative newcomers to the league, Middleton Cheney.
Middleton won the toss and elected to kick off and in the opening couple of minutes things were looking good for the colts as Thomas Harvey struck a shot which hit the side netting, however from that point Middleton Cheney turned up the heat on the Colts and this resulted in a goal on 8 minutes. The colts were left reeling from the goal and never really got into the match. At half time only one goal separated the two teams and there was hope for the Colts.
After the managers’ team talk the Colts kicked off the second half and initially showed the spark that had got them to the top of the league, however Middleton quickly got back on top and simply outplayed the Colts across the park.
Better luck next week.

11.10.08 Carterton U 11 Colts 2 v 2 Brackley Town Saints

Colts were at home today against their closest league rivals and a win for either team would result in top place in the league. It was a glorious day with the sun shining brightly and the pitch was in excellent condition.
Carterton won the toss and elected to play the 1st half with the sun behind them and from the kick off both teams got straight in to some attacking football. Brackley started the stronger with some neat passing and this quickly paid of for them with a goal on 7 minutes. Not the start the Colts were looking for, but as the match progressed Colts started to come back into the game and had some good chances on goal. Colts started to apply consistent pressure to Brackley with balls being fired over the top of the Brackley defence from our midfield for our speedsters, Richard Matthews and Lewis Smith, to run on to. This tactic paid dividends on 23 minutes as the ball fell to Richard who from about 15 yards struck a lovely ball into the back of the net. What a great way to celebrate your 11th birthday.
With the game all-square both teams continued some good football. It was Brackley’s turn to attack and managed to catch out our generally solid defence that resulted in a goal. It seemed that Brackley were destined to go into half time one goal to the good but then up popped Thomas Harvey, who latched on to the end of a pass from Lewis to calmly slot the ball into the net.
Second half started with Colts on the attack and for the 1st 5 or so minutes took the game to Brackley, and despite creating chances could not find a goal. Brackley now started to attack and again despite some good pressure and some good saves from our stand-in goalkeeper, Sam Jarvis, kept the game at 2-2.
The referee, who had a good game, blew his whistle for full time and good game of football came to an end with the score fittingly at 2 goals each.
Another excellent effort from both teams, well done. match report by Craig Harvey

4.10.08 Garden City 0 v 1 Carterton U 11 Colts

Carterton Colts were away today against 5th placed Garden City, so a tough match was expected and Colts were going to have to play well to keep their unbeaten run going.
From the kick off they did just that and for the early part of the match created some good chances, however despite the best efforts of our forwards, could just not find the final touch to put the ball in the back off the net. The half seemed to even up with both teams battling hard but neither side managing to create a goal. At half time the score was 0-0.
From the 2nd half whistle Garden City appeared to take the battle to the Colts whose defence stood steadfast and managed to repel any attack. Again the match evened up and after about 20 minutes of play the ball fell to Thomas Harvey, who found himself with his back to goal. With a lovely 1st touch managed to turn and strike at goal and although not the cleanest of shots the ball crept over the line for the only goal of the match.
Colts managed to grind out a win today against a determined opposition and both teams should be pleased with their efforts. Match report by Craig Harvey

27.9.08 Banbury Town Youth 4 v 4 Carterton U 11 Colts

Carterton Colts were on their travels today, away to Banbury, and the prospect of a hard fought match was in store. Colts were full of confidence after their excellent start to the season and they were hoping to take some more points away today.
The fog, which had blighted Oxfordshire, lifted in time for kick off and another lovely day presented itself and straight from the opening whistle both teams went on the attack. The opening goal came from Banbury on 22 minutes with a neat run from the Banbury winger down the right, who crossed the ball into the box that fell to a Banbury attacker who scored.
Banbury then scored a second goal in quick succession and Colts must have feared their unbeaten run was coming to a close. However the spirit within the team made them come back fighting and on the stroke of half time Sam Baldwin took a goal kick which bounced clear of the midfield and landed at Jack Cameron’s feet. Jack reacted quickly and ran past the defence and effortlessly guided the ball past the Banbury keeper.
Half time and Carterton were back in the match.
As the second half kicked off Colts came straight on the attack aiming to start the half how they finished the first. Colts’ tails were now up and they were playing some good football. However they were soon to be thwarted, Banbury cleared the ball from midfield and the ball came to one of Banbury’s attackers, who ran into the box and scored. The referee looked over at the linesman who was in line with play and clearly had his flag in the air. The Banbury referee for reasons of his own (which were not clear to anyone else) decided to completely ignore his linesman’s decision and awarded the goal.
At this point the Colts players had two choices, let their heads drop in disbelief at the decision or carry on and show people how to win a football match fairly.
2 minutes after the “goal” Thomas Harvey played a through ball for Jack Davies who struck the ball into the back of the net.
3-2 to Banbury.
Again Carterton were attacking and moments later a ball over the top of the Banbury defence fell to Richard Matthews who again put the ball in the back of the net.
With the match all square and Colts still attacking it was now Mahir Allam’s turn to try and score and he let loose a speculative shot, which deflected of a Banbury player and in to his own net.
Colts now had their noses in front and despite pressing forward could not find another goal to seal the game.
In the last 5 minutes it was Banbury’s turn to start attacking and had quite a few chances on goal but could not find the back of the net, maybe it would be Colt’s day after all. But with about one minute to go Banbury went on one last attack and a frantic goalmouth scramble ensued, Colts failed to clear the ball and it was Banbury who forced the ball home.
The match ended 4-4.
This was an excellent effort from both teams and both teams contributed to a superb game of football and I believe a draw was the fairest outcome for both teams.
One point of contention is the refereeing. The motto “fair play for all” clearly did not apply. Football is emotive and subjective but please let the officials set a good example to the children by being fair to ALL.  match report by Craig Harvey

20.9.08 Carterton U 11 Colts 6 v 1 Bampton Town

A glorious morning greeted the Colts for their home fixture against Bampton Town and the Colts were gunning to keep their unbeaten run going. This showed within the opening minutes with a superb cross-field ball from Jack Davies to Thomas Harvey who took a shot. The Bampton goalie deflected the ball, which fell nicely to Lewis Smith who slotted the ball home for the 1st goal of the game. Shortly after with some good pressure applied to the Bampton defence the ball fell to Jack Cameron who struck a lovely shot for the 2nd goal.
Carterton were not about to let up the pressure they were applying to the Bampton defence and on the occasions when Bampton attacked the Carterton back four worked superbly to cover any threat.
After 25 minutes Jack Davies scored possibly the goal of the match. The move started with a marauding run down the right skipping nimbly past Bampton players, he then crossed the ball into the box. The ball fell to Mahir who did not have clear sight on goal so passed it back to Jack, who then from an impossibly acute angle took a shot which flew into the back of the net.
Although 3 nil to Colts, Bampton never gave up and just before half time made a challenge on goal, however a marvellous last ditch tackle from our stalwart in defence, Josh Knibbs, saved a certain goal.
After half time Colts continued the attack and after some confusion in the Bampton goalmouth Josh Knibbs scored, however the referee cancelled out the goal and instead awarded Colts a penalty for an earlier infringement. Josh Herbert stepped up and coolly placed the ball into the corner of the net to make it 4.
The manager decided to make some subs and on came Sam Jarvis and with possibly his 1st touch scored a thunderous curving shot which rebounded of the inside of the post and went into the net.
John made some more subs and on came Miles, Kieran and Joe, who made an immediate impact Joe and Miles in attack and Kieran in some good covering defence.
Near the end of the match Bampton attacked and managed to break free and the Bampton attacker placed a lovely cross into the box and Josh Knibbs managed to get a head on the ball, unfortunately the ball deflected past Matt into the goal.
The last action of the match fell to Thomas Harvey who ran down the left and after a jinking run created an opening for a shot and put his trusty left foot to good use and scored the 6th goal of the match.
This was another good match for the Colts who are playing well as a team and can rightly be proud of their performance today. Match report by Craig Harvey

13.9.08 Launton Boys 1 v 3 Carterton U 11 Colts

The Colts were looking to build on their opening day win and dominated the early exchanges with some neat and tidy passing. The opening goal of the game went to Carterton when the ball fell to Josh Herbert on the edge of the penalty area, his well struck shot finding the right hand corner of the Launton net. Carterton extended their lead when Thomas Harvey ran from near the half way line unchallenged to toe poke the ball under the advancing keeper, 2-0 Carterton, which ended up being the half time score.
Miles Roberts made an immeadiate impact, early in the second half, after coming on as a substitute, he made a probing run down the right flank before delivering a superb cross into the penalty area for Richard Matthews to tap in at the far post. The game then became a scrapy affair and Launton pulled a goal back when a goal kick found it's way to a Launton player on the edge of the penalty area, his shot was saved but the rebound fell to the Launton centre forward who tapped into an empty net. At this stage the game flowed from end to end but neither team managed to create a clear scoring chance and Carterton Colts were worthy of their 3-1 victory.
Credit should be given to the parents and management team from Launton who worked extremely hard to clear over night rain from the pitch to produce a good playing surface. match report by John Herbert

6.9.08 Carterton U 11 Colts 9 v 1 Hook Norton

The first game of the campaign was looked forward to with keen optimism of a new season. Despite Heavy rainfall yesterday , the pitch at Monahan way was in great shape for the game.
Hook Norton (newly promoted this season) kicked off and Carterton put them under immediate pressure. The pressure was sustained and in the 7th minute a goal mouth scramble resulted in a chipped shot from Maahir Alam deflecting off a Norton player for the first goal of the game.
Carterton maintained the pressure on Norton after the kicked off but some inaccurate and indecisive shooting meant that the score remain 1 nil till the 25th minute when another goal mouth scramble resulted in Lewis Smith toe poking the ball into the Norton net. A few moments later a half intercepted cross looped across the Norton goal and Richard Matthews managed to get a head to it to slot it just inside the post. The game continued in much the same manner till half time but no further call was made on the scorer and the half time score was 3 nil to Carterton although it could and should have been at least double that.
Second half the Carterton team came out more focused after what must have been a strong tactical discussion by Manager John Herbert. Early signs where good and the ball was moving at better pace and wider around the pitch. Good shot taking started to occur and over the next half hour , Carterton produced an additional 6 goals. A hat trick from Tom Harvey and additional goals from Miles Roberts (his first for Carterton since joining the team over the summer) Richard Matthews with a fine shot across the keeper from out wide and a diving header by Joe Kaluza after the ball bounced back off the Cross bar from another strong shot by Richard Matthews.
One down side for Carterton was conceding a goal half way through the second half to a clear offside situation that was flagged by the Lines man , but ignored by the referee. A pity as it would have been good to have gotten off with a clean sheet in the first game of the season. Other than this incident , the Carterton defense had very few situations where they had to produce anything. It was encouraging to see some strong clearance heading challenges by the Carterton Central defense from the opposition goal keepers clearance kicks.
So, a solid result for the first game albeit from a significantly improved second half performance, but Carterton will need to produce even better performances later in the season when they come up against stronger opposition from traditional A league sides.     report by Mark Knibbs

Well done to both teams,
Carterton would like to dedicate this game to Amy Oliver who sadly died yesterday, our thoughts are with fellow team mate Jacob Oliver and his family.

26.4.09 Bampton Town 6 v 1 Carterton U 12's

Bamptons 3rd Goal came soon after scored by Oliver Squires and 4th goal by Charlie West, Carterton battled on and some nice passes up the field once again saw Cartertons shot also just go wide, with half time looming Bampton got their 5th goal of the match from a lovely shot by Lewis Townsend, minutes later another Bampton shot hit the top bar went back into play and Bamptons second chance was saved by Cartertons Keeper who definatly had his work cut out today, just before the whistle Cartertons Jack Summerfield had a lovely run through the field and was looking good for a shot when Bamptons defence stopped him short, Half time score Bampton 5 Carterton 0.
The second half saw Carterton playing better and soon after kick off Carterton got the ball and worked it well up into Will Partlett path whos took a lovely shot it looked good to get over the keepers head but Bamptons Keeper was on form and saved it well, Carterton stayed focused and a few minutes later it paid off with a lovely goal from Ben Wright making it Bampton 5  Carterton 1, Carterton kept possession for some time and Ben Wright had his second attempt straight to the keeper, then Bamptons Ryan Oliver got his 3rd goal of the match making it 6  to Bampton, with minutes to go Cartertons Danny Boyle came through with some lovely football and had a shot but again straight to Bamptons Keeper

a good game, thanks to the referee and linesmen, well done to both sides

22.3.09 Azad Hill 1 v 0 Carterton U 12's

Azad Hill started the game well and within 5 minutes Adil Raze better known as S"peedy" took the lead with a nifty goal over Carterton's keepers head, This was an eye opener for Carterton who had to work extremely hard to keep Azad from getting a further lead.   Azad had a further two attempts both well kept out of the danger area by Carterton's defence and goalie, Carterton had their first chance but unfortunately the player mis-judged the ball and lost a good chance to get things even, Azad had a further attempt saved brilliantly by Carterton's keeper Chris Macdonald.  The half time score was Azad Hill 1 Carterton 0.
The second half saw some more attempts by Azad Hill but all incoming threats seemed no match for Carterton's keeper,  afew minutes later Azad Hills free kick shot just tipped Carterton's keepers fingers forcing it up towards the top bar and just tippling over the top.
Battling on Carterton had another attempt from some hard work in mid field and Tiago Lopes in position to finish who just missed the target.  Another free kick to Azad Hill also not hitting the mark then another attempt from Azad Hill called offside. Azad Hill deserved to get another goal but it wasn't to be, Carterton's keeper saved another brilliant shot, both sides worked hard right up to the final whistle which left the final score at Azad Hill 1 Carterton 0
Well done to both teams thanks to the ref and linesmen.
Cartertons Man of the match was Keeper Chris Macdonald.

8.3.09 Carterton U 12's 7 v 1 Old Woodstock Town

Wychwood had another attempt but the shot went straight to Cartertons Keeper Chris Macdonald's hands, a short goal kick sent the ball back out into the danger zone, Cartertons quick thinking keeper had to back track and dive on the imposing threat.
Both teams were battling hard then another goal for Cartertons from Lewis Oakey whose quick run up the wing made it 5 nil. Cartertons Jack Summerfield had a shot just off target followed by another attempt which was deflected out twice by Wychwoods defence, from the third deflection the ball went straight into the path of Cartertons Ben Wright who smacked it just over the top bar, from the goal kick Cartertons Tiago Lopes got possession of the ball and with a powerful kick and two bounces up the field towards Wychwoods Keeper who did a brilliant save leaping into the air to grab the ball.

In the first half Carterton had so many chances to get ahead, they played some lovely football but just couldn't get the goals they were after, Banbury town youth also seemed unlucky with many unsucsesful attempts, half time came and went and it seemed like we were going to get a no score draw, but ten minutes before the end Banbury shot ahead with two lucky goals, this woke Carterton up but time was running out even though they tried right to the whistle. Banbury 2 Carterton 0 finish, Well done both teams and thank you to the referee. matcvh report by Tina Partlett.

21.9.08 Kingham All Blacks 1 v 2 Carterton U 12's

After two disappointing performances which had resulted in poor defeats in their opening two games, Carterton FC came to life today in a far more competative match than their previous games, running out comfortable winners.
From the off, Carterton pushed on, keeping Kingham in their own half coming close on several occasions before a superb through ball saw Ben Wright break free and finish well to give Carterton a well deserved lead. With a strong back line of Andy Rhodes, Bradley Wright, Josh Lee and James Wilson all on top of their game, Kingham were finding it hard to get a clear chance on goal.
At half-time Carterton lost their inspirational Captain Andy Rhodes to a back injury and we feared the worst to be honest, but credit to the boys they dug deep and Bradley Wright and Lewis Oakey did a superb job to keep Kingham at bay. As the minutes ticked by, and legs tired in the long grass, Will Partlett was fouled on the edge of the box and Ben Wright buried a superb free kick from distance for a 2 v 0 lead to Carterton. It was nail biting stuff from then on as Kingham gave it a real go, but a great dogged team effort from all the Carterton lads made sure they got all three points. A late consolation goal for Kingham was well taken by the their striker, but the ref blew moments later.

22.3.09 Bicester Town Colts 8 v 0 Carterton U 12 Colts

Bicester went back to the top of the league with a convincing victory over Carterton Colts. It was the visitors that showed early promise though, and an excellent timed tackle from Ryan Kerwin prevented them from taking the lead. Bicester's passing game began to tell and some terrific passing from Josh Tingling and Ben Holt provided an easy scoring chance for Danny Keen to give Bicester the lead. Harry Cassidy almost increased that lead but his shot lacked power and the ball was cleared off the line, and from the follow up, the Carterton keeper made an excellent save to deny Danny his second. It wasn't long until Bicester did grab their second, Danny involved again, this time from a free kick, and although that was saved, Ryan Kerwin latched on to the loose ball to smash it past the keeper. George Morgan put in a good cross for Ben Holt to make it three, and Ben then scored his second and Bicester's fourth, receiving the ball from a Lewis Garcia throw. Tom Batchelor then brought another good save from the Carterton keeper before the half time whistle blew.
The second half wasn't even a minute old when Harry Cassidy made it 5, a neat near post flick that went in off the far post. Josh Brooker capped a solid display at the back with goal number 6 as he found himself unmarked from a Bicester corner. George then made an excellent run down the right wing to lay the ball off for Lewis Garcia to make it 7, and George then saved the best 'til last, weaving his way down the right again before smashing an unstoppable shot into the top corner.
Carterton played some good football at times but they found themselves against resilient opposition today. The only incident that marred Bicester's victory was an unfortunate injury to George Morgan, we wish him a speedy recovery. Man of the match awards were for Danny Keen from the parents and George Morgan from the manager. match report taken from W&DYFL Web site

8.3.09 Carterton U 12 Colts 1 v 5 Moreton Rangers

22.2.09 Chasewell Park 4 v 3 Carterton U 12 Colts

Toby Burrows opened the scoring and Liam Grieveson put Chasewell 2-0 up with a typical run and finish. Carterton pulled one back but another fine goal from Burrows made it 3-1 at the break.
Carterton took control second half and Chasewell seemed to run out of energy. Liam Grieveson forced a fine save from the Carterton keeper after good play from Jack Hartwell and then Kieron Smith hooked wide from five yards with the goal gaping. You could sense a Carterton winner and another cross floated straight in during the closing seconds. match report from W&DYFL Web site

Will Hardy was in great form early in the game with two great finishes as Hooky led 2-0, however Carterton battled back superbly to level at 2-2 thanks to goals from Rory Cornforth and Max Davison. Hooky regained control before half time as Will Hardy completed a superb hat-trick and Josh Hunt scored from 25yards.
After the break Hooky dominated but couldn't turn possession into goals as Oliver Groves made some fine saves. Hooky finally made the game safe when Hunt scored his second after good work from Jacob Evans and Alex Thornton. Davison scored his second late in the game to make it 5-3.

The second half saw Hooky with their backs to the wall but great defending in particular Joe Wadsworth and Andrew Morley kept the colts at bay. Luke Syminton's magnificent one handed save denied the hosts as Hunt and Hardy looked dangerous on the break. Carterton pulled one back from a corner but Hooky hung on for a fine win. match report from W&DYFL Web site

2.11.08 Chasewell Park 1 v 3 Carterton U 12 Colts match reversed

After a week of near chaos Chasewell turned up for this fixture with a bare eleven with reserve keeper Jamie up front.
Carterton took an early lead but despite numerous changes Chasewell looked quite organised and well in the game. As the half progressed Chasewell started to pass the ball well resulting in two great chances for Liam who had his first effort well saved then hit the post with his second. With the wind at their backs Chasewell flew at pace at Carterton but again failed to take a couple more chances. Carterton were strong on the wings and were sending in numerous good crosses and from one they got their second. A third followed from the penalty spot. Liam Grieveson then burst through and finished smartly but well done Carterton today. For Chasewell Ross Young did well in his first game. Lee Curry and Harry Graham paired up well at centre back. Jamie Barrett who came in to make up the numbers did us proud and was very effective.
In the circumstances this was a fine performance from Chasewell. match report from W&DYFL Web site

12.10.08 Yarnton Blues 2 v 4 Carterton U 12 Colts

5.10.08 Carterton U 12 Colts 1 v 6 Bicester Town Colts

Bicester's finishing was a total contrast to last week as they recorded an emphatic victory at Carterton. It was Carterton who started the better of the two teams, and they took the lead after about ten minutes when their forward calmly finished beyond the dive from Harry Brown in the Bicester goal. It wasn't long until Bicester were back on level terms when Lewis Garcia scored after some good work from George Morgan and James Freeman. Danny Keen could have given Bicester the lead just before half time when he latched on to a header from Ben Holt, but he smashed his shot against the underside of the crossbar.
The second half belonged to Bicester and a long throw from Matthew Jillians was flicked on by Lewis for Danny Keen to race on to and round the keeper to score. Harry Cassidy played a clever ball for George to cross which allowed Danny to score his second, and then Ben Holt helped himself to a brace, the first of which was a brilliant looping header while having his back towards goal. Lewis Garcia wrapped things up for Bicester, finding himself on the end of a great cross from George for his second goal and Bicester's sixth. Solid work from Ryan Kerwin, Tom Batchelor, Nathan Hillary and Josh Tingling in defence and good handling from Harry Brown in goal capped a brilliant game from Bicester. Carterton Colts are a good side and played some lovely fluent football, but this was a day when things certainly went right for Bicester.
Bicester parents' man of the match was Harry Cassidy and Matthew Jillians won the manager's award. match report from W&DYFL Web site

3.5.09 Highfield Juniors 3 v 4 Carterton u 13's

26.4.09 Carterton U 13's 2 v 6 Eynsham Youth

In this late afternoon kick-off Eynsham secured the victory that sealed the 13's 'B' League Championship Title. They were given a very competitive run for their money by an extremely hard working Carterton side who did their best to be the party poopers.
Eynsham were not to be denied this Championship and won with goals from the prolific Stephen Pearce with two and one a piece from Adam Burnham, Rob Pryse, Callum Breslin and a Ryan Bull penalty. The two well earned Carterton replies were by Kez Bryer and Tom Mazur.
From the Eynsham contingent a big Thank- you to Carterton for their hospitality during and after the game as well as both sets of players in a very competitive match. match report from W&DYFL Web site

19.4.09 Banbury Town Youth Colts 4 v 2 Carterton U 13's

5.4.09 Ducklington 4 v 3 Carterton U 13's

If, as Forrest Gump says, life is like a box of chocolates, Carterton turned out like a load of coffee creams in throwing away three points at Ducklington.  Against the run of play the home side took the lead after ten minutes.  Carterton were back on terms a few minutes later when a long throw to the near post from Joe Milgate was neatly headed home by Tomas Masur.  Ten minutes later Carterton went two up when George Godwin provided an identical finish from a near post, Nicky Rose corner.  Carterton seemed to have matters well under control early in the second half when a delicious through ball from Jordan Anderton found Nicky Rose to make it three one to the visitors.  But in the last fifteen minutes Carterton played as if their job was done.  The midfield went missing in Ducklington’s half and the defence, left to their own devices, leaked three goals in eleven minutes to gift Ducklington a win which should never have been.  No man-of-the-match for Carterton, just that rather nasty after taste left from too many coffee creams. match reoprt by Simon Garrett

29.3.09 Bampton Town 0 v 4 Carterton U 13's

Carterton ran out comfortable winners away to Bampton in the Under 13 B Division thanks to an excellent all round team performance. The visitors were on top from the start but with Bampton playing a very high line were constantly caught offside. After about twenty minutes Joe Baldwin headed on for Nicky Rose to make a run on goal. His first shot was parried by the home keeper but Rose coolly followed up to net the rebound. Two minutes later a through ball from Kez Bryer found Adam Full wide on the right who ran through to the edge of the box to slam an excellent shot into the roof of the net. In the second half a long ball from the Carterton goalie, Saul Garrett found George Godwin who bullied his way past a defender before striking a shot the keeper could not hold. Carterton’s fourth came after excellent work from Dan Leverton-Vaughan whose first shot was saved; Leverton-Vaughan then struck a hard low cross across the area for Harrison Greeves to finish. Carterton’s man-of-the-match was Adam Full.

22.3.09 Steeple Aston & Barton 2 v 1 Carterton U 13's

After a few weeks where the team has shown excellent levels of commitment the first half away at Steeple Aston was a strangely muted affair. Neither side had many clear cut chances but the home side were the more composed as Carterton's passing abilities seemed to have deserted them. Twice they had Saul Garrett to thank in goal for keeping them in the match with excellent diving saves to his left. Steeple took a one nil lead before the break but then Carterton woke up and began to play with a bit more urgency. A through ball from Nicky Rose was pounced on by Tomas Mazur whose strong running took him past the defender for the equaliser. Carterton began to press leaving gaps behind and Garrett made two more last ditch saves to keep the scores level. Steeple's winner was a heart breaker; a speculative lob from thirty yards coming back off the crossbar hitting the helpless keeper on the back and in. Not a great way to lose! CFC man-of-the-match was Saul Garrett.

1.3.09 Carterton U 13's 4 v 1 Steeple Aston & Barton Juniors

22.2.09 Bicester Town Colts 4 v 3 Carterton U 13's

Oh Dear! Carterton came off the high of last week’s excellent performance and looked like the hangover was in full swing display. A disjointed and largely lethargic performance was never going to be enough against a Bicester side which, as always, gave their all. The visitors went one up after four minutes when Tomas Mazur fed George Godwin who slipped a delightful shot along the ground through the home keeper’s legs. Carterton took this as the signal to play six up front and watched from afar as Bicester rattled in three goals without reply. Tomas Mazur can claim the goal which pulled it back to three-two just before half time when a mix-up in the home defence saw his shot from long range creep inside a post. Carterton came out more positively in the second half and Tomas powered through the middle to bring the sides level. But then the strange sleeping sickness descended once more and Bicester scored their fourth. The last ten minutes saw Carterton throw everything at the home side but to no avail. Dan Leverton-Vaughan was Carterton’s man-of-the-match for a battling display of tackling at the back, often making excellent decisions when he was left almost on his own. match report by Simon Garrett

The visitors went one up after four minutes when Tomas Mazur fed George Godwin who slipped a delightful shot along the ground through the home keeper's legs. Bicester then dominated and were rewarded with great one two between Jamie Wilson and Brad Shields and calmly slotted away by Jamie Wilson 2-1. Bicester's defence played as one unit catching the Carterton fowards off-side time after time, this allowed Bicester midfield and fowards to pressure the Carterton defence and some great saves by the Carterton keeper kept the score down but it was some great play by Shields and Wilson that say Jamie Wilson loose in the box and the defender took his legs penalty up stepped Matthew Fedus goalie went one way he calmly slotted it away 3-1 then more domination by Bicester and nip and tuck but a mix up saw a Bicester defender slot the ball past his own keeper following a Tomas Mazur shot - no time for the restart 3-2 half time.
Carterton came out with there heads up and it was end to end football but for some great saves from both keepers Carterton striker was down the Bicester keepers throat he had to score but a fantastic double fisted punch saw the ball sail over the bar great save, Bicester had the ball in the net but ruled off-side and from the free kick Carterton's Tomas Mazur scored. Bicester showed great character and there pressure was rewarded with a goal from Matthew Fedus 4-3 Bicester Carterton kept going and nearly got a equalizer towards the end but I think the score reflected the true result Bicester just deserved the win.
Well done both sets of players and spectators and officials great game Bicester's man of the match Brad Shields. Dan Leverton-Vaughan was Carterton's man-of-the-match for a battling display of tackling at the back, often making excellent decisions when he was left almost on his own. match report by W&DYFL Web site

15.2.09 Carterton U 13's 4 v 0  Banbury United Youth

After losing five-nil away at Banbury earlier in the season Carterton took their revenge with probably their best performance for over a year. The first fifteen minutes saw Carterton repeatedly probing the visitors’ defence but constantly aware of the threat posed by Banbury’s dangerous centre forward, Tom Jackson. Kez Bryer, one of several Carterton players operating out of position picked up the ball on the left, ran across the face of a defender and placed an excellent shot along the ground to open the scoring. Five minutes later determined work by Jordan Anderton at left back released Tomas Mazur who doubled the lead. Tomas made it three after twenty-five minutes when he refused to give up on a ball which seemed destined for the Banbury keeper who tried to clear it – the ball rebounding into the unguarded goal. After half time Banbury came roaring out of the traps and had Carterton pinned back in their own area for long periods. Resolute and energetic defending kept them at bay and Carterton remained a threat on the break. When Banbury had a goal kick on the right, Jordan Anderton, now operating up front pounced on the ball, ran into the area and deftly made it four. The wind went out of Banbury’s sails thereafter and that was how it stayed. Any one of Carterton’s twelve players could have received man-of-the-match such was their organisation and concentration, not to mention their tremendous collective effort and very watchable passing game, but in the end the laurels went to Jordan Anderton for a superb all round performance.

8.2.09 Banbury Town Youth Colts v Carterton U 13's - match postponed

1.2.09 Carterton U 13's 3 v 2  Bampton Town

Bampton played with a fierce, freezing wind at their backs in the first half of this Under thirteen B Division match but staunch defending and superior organisation from Carterton meant the visitors never looked like scoring in the first half. After the break, Carterton expected to take advantage of the conditions and pressed constantly without a breakthrough. As the home team committed more players forward they were exposed to the counter attack which duly came, Dominic Jones putting Bampton ahead with twenty minutes to play. Carterton stepped up the tempo and Joe Milgate levelled with a free kick from thirty yards straight into the top left hand corner. Almost immediately the hard work was undone when Bampton broke again, Saul Garrett pulling off a fine save to deny the first shot but Dominic Jones put his team ahead again. It seemed like time was running out when Adam Full outpaced Bampton’s defence and side-footed the second equaliser. As the clock ticked down Tomas Mazur scored Carterton’s third earning a well deserved win. Aaron Light was Carterton’s man-of-the-match thanks to his tireless efforts.

25.1.09 Azad Hill 7 v 1 Carterton U 13's - reverse fixture

Sometimes you feel the need to watch your team through your fingers, so horrible is their display. Carterton’s Under thirteen B Division match against Azad Hill was best observed with a blanket over the head and from behind the sofa. Organisation, control, communication and commitment were just a few of the things missing from this performance. Ten minutes in and one nil down, Carterton man-of-the-match Tomas Mazur provided one of the rare bright spots for the home team with a determined run through the middle of the visitors’ defence and a firmly hit finish over the keeper’s head. It was all downhill from there. Three one down at half time translated to seven one by the end. Coach Vic Moore had a “quiet word” with the boys after the final whistle. Next week we will discover who was listening. match report by Simon Garrett

 18.1.09 Carterton U 13's 0 v 1 North Leigh

In a game where the blustery wind looked like it would play a big role, both sides actually looked the stronger with it blowing in their faces. A thoroughly scrappy first half saw few chances but the visitors most definitely kept better control of the ball and produced more flowing play with Carterton struggling to get into their stride. Half way through the first period, Karl Smith was put through on his own, outpaced the home defence and successfully beat the Carterton keeper to put North Leigh one up. In the second half Carterton started to gain more control, hitting the woodwork twice and seeing several bobbling balls scrambled clear from deep in North Leigh’s penalty area. North Leigh held out for what was eventually a hard fought victory. Ben Shankland was Carterton’s man-of-the-match for a battling, hard-tackling display out his accustomed position.

11.1.09 Highfield Juniors v Carterton U 13's - match postponed

4.1.09 Carterton U 13's v Eynesham Youth - match postponed

14.12.08 Ducklington v Carterton U 13's match postponed

7.12.08 Charlbury Town Youth 0 v 6 Carterton U 13's

A resounding victory for Carterton by six goals to nil was won by a hihgly satisfying combination of excellent individual performances and intelligent team play.  For the first twenty minutes, Charbury withstood constant probing by the visitors, until Adam Full picked up the ball on the right outpacing his opposing left back.  He cut inside and beat a second defender before slotting the ball home to give Carterton a deserved lead.  Shortly afterwards, Joe Baldwin picked up the ball in the middle of the field and drove a shot from twenty yards that was too strong for the home keeper to stop.  Shortly before half time, Tomas Mazur made it three nil from the edge of the box, a score which by no means flattered Carterton.  In the second half the visitors scored straight from the kick off.  Liam Moore drove a perfect pass out left for George Godwin who showed tremendous control to round three defenders and score.  Harry Greeves made Godwin’s second, dancing through the middle of the home defence and sliding him in with an exquisite pass five yards out.  Godwin completed his hat trick with a dink over the keeper after Charlbury failed to clear.  Several performances deserved the man-of-the-match award but the decision went to Liam Moore for outstanding control in the middle of the field from where he hardly played a less than perfect pass all game.  Well done all! match report by Simon Garrett

30.11.08 Under-13 Knock-Out Cup - 2nd Round - Grendon Rangers 7 v 1 Carterton U 13's

Some days you wish you had not got out of bed. By half time, six nil down in horizontal rain and Arctic temperatures, most of Carterton’s players felt this way – as most certainly did the parents. After the interval they dug deeper and Carterton man-of-the-match Joe Baldwin scored from a free kick to claim a second half draw. We might be away again next week. Hopefully in Bermuda. match report by Simon Garrett

23.11.08 Carterton U 13's 4 v 3 Bicester Town Colts

Carterton held on in the face of a spirited fight back from Bicester and a strengthening wind to record a four-three victory in their Under 13 B Division game at Monahan Way. Playing with the weather in the first half the home side took full advantage. Good work from Joe Milgate on the right created the opportunity for Tomas Mazur to cross; Kez Bryer met it first time to open the scoring. Tomas Mazur picked up a loose ball from the Bicester defence a few minutes later, slotting the ball neatly into the left hand corner of the net. But the visitors came back well almost immediately; some slack home defending allowing a cross from the left for a tap in and two-one. Minutes later, the two goal lead was restored when George Godwin muscled in on a back pass to the Bicester keeper, poked it through his legs and followed on for a simple finish. Just before half time, a weak goal kick was picked up by Tomas Mazur who put it away for his second and Carterton’s fourth. In the second half, with the wind at their backs, Bicester came back into the game with a vengeance with two quick goals. Saul Garrett was called upon to make a string of decent saves in the home goal including one fingertip touch over the bar. Four-three was a fair reflection of the game and Tomas Mazur was named the home side’s man-of-the-match. match report by Simon Garrett

16.11.08 Banbury United Youth 5 v 0 Carterton U 13's

It was one of those games any team would rather forget in a hurry.  Carterton had as many chances, if not more, than their opponents, but could not put a single one away.  The team suffered a collective amnesia, apparently forgetting much about passing, talking to each other or backing up team mates.  There was no lack of effort on the players’ parts, just an absence of end result.  Joe Baldwin, George Godwin, Adam Full and Jordan Anderton all went close to scoring at different times but it was simply not to be.  Banbury scored two in the first half, largely against the run of play.  After the interval they took greater control and netted another three.  Kez Bryer was Carterton’s man-of-the-match. match report by Simon Garrett

9.11.08 Carterton U 13's 0 v 2 Banbury Town Youth Colts

Carterton and Banbury Town played out a remarkably entertaining game despite atrocious conditions with the visitors edging the game by two goals to nil.  Carterton started brightly in torrential rain and pressed Banbury hard with George Godwin and Harry Greeves going close several times.  Half way through the first half the home defence cleared a shot to the edge of their area and a half volley rocketed in from the underside of the bar.  Carterton continued to make chances with the midfield and centre backs making repeated contributions but Banbury’s defence stood firm.  In the second half it was more of the same.  At times the ferocity of the downpour made it hard to see from one end to the other but both teams still managed to play remarkably skilful football.  A powerful shot across goal from Banbury’s left sealed it, the home keeper unable to hold the shot in the slippery conditions and a striker first to the rebound.  The match was played in a superb spirit throughout and Liam Moore was named as Carterton’s man-of-the-match.

This game was played in the worst conditions imaginable, will gale force winds and driving rain throughout the match making football almost impossible. It is a tribute to the character and resilience of both teams that they did not let this awful weather stop them from getting the ball down and attempting to play the game with skill and thought.
Carterton started brightly in torrential rain and pressed Banbury hard with George Godwin and Harry Greeves going close several times and were unlucky not to go ahead. When first a low cross from the right eluded two or three Banbury defenders and found a Carterton forward, who with the goal at his mercy fired wide, then a break down the left saw a Carterton forward advancing into the penalty area his well struck shot looked to be heading for the corner until a fantastic diving save from Kieran Dolphin saw him parry the shot to safety. Gradually Banbury came into the game as they started to play some neat passing football through midfield. It was from this passing that Banbury found themselves ahead. A neat interchange between Joe Ward and Coenie Else put Else clear down the left wing, his cross found Adam Sullivan on the edge of the area, his crisp left footed shot cannoned off the underside of the crossbar and into the net to give Banbury a 1-0 half time lead.
Just when you though the rain couldn't get any worse, it did. Puddles began appearing all over the pitch making passing even more difficult. But with the wind at the backs Banbury began to dominate the game pinning their opponents into their own half. Though Banbury were dominating, the chances created by their wide players were being squandered, making them susceptible to a Carterton break away. Fortunately when Carterton did break the Banbury defence were able to deal with anything thrown at them. Then with ten minutes to go Banbury wrapped up the game and the points when a mazy run by Will Jennings saw him wriggle clear of the Carterton defence, his shot was only half saved by the keeper, and as the ball rolled free Joe Wetherill pounced to fire home from 6 yards to give Banbury the game at 2-0.
The match was played in a superb spirit throughout and Liam Moore was named as Carterton's man-of-the-match. match rpeort from W&DYFL Web site

2.11.08 Bampton Town v Carterton U 13 - match postponed

12.10.08 Carterton U 13's 3 v 2 Azad Hill

Carterton made the early running in their Under 13 B Division encounter with Azad Hill and took the lead after five minutes. A good through ball from home captain, Nicky Rose, found George Godwin whose shot squirmed under the body of the visitor’s keeper. Carterton struggled to find openings as Azad Hill fought hard to keep them out, but fifteen minutes later another shot from Godwin was well parried by goalie Ibrar Iqbal and Aaron Light followed up brilliantly to make it two nil. But Azad came back strongly and scored from the penalty spot just before half time. They came out with renewed confidence in the second half and drew level almost immediately. A cross from the right was parried by Saul Garrett in the Carterton goal but alert poaching by the opposition saw the ball over the line. From then on it was Carterton on the attack squandering a hatful of chances and being repeatedly thwarted by some excellent goal keeping. The away side were dangerous on the break as Carterton struggled to find their way through and left worrying gaps behind. Eventually the pressure told when a corner from the right brought about a melee in the middle and Harrison Greeves seemed to get the final touch. Late on, Tomasz Mazur was denied a goal on his debut for the home side, heading home superbly from anther corner; the referee spotted an infringement and the goal did not stand. Carterton’s man of the match was Aaron Light for his tireless running up front.  match report by Simon Garrett

5.10.08 Under-13 Knock-Out Cup - 1st Round - Bye v Carterton U 13's

(Kick off times are detailed in rule 10M - matches to be decided on the day (rule 23A) - please note rules 8S and 24 If KO Cup fixtures clash with league fixtures, then the league will allocated a new date for the league fixture Postponements must be reported to Fixtures Secretary at the time of the postponement (see rule 25))

28.9.08 N Leigh 3 - 1 Carterton FC

Tightly contested as games between these two sides always are, North Leigh ran out eventual three-one winners at home to Carterton in the B Division of the Under 13 league. The first twenty minutes were very tight with both sides pressing but not carving out any clear cut chances. Then a failed clearance from Carterton fell to a North Leigh player who fired home with the away keeper stranded. North Leigh were winning the vital battles in midfield but still neither team could completely subdue the other, although North Leigh would undoubtedly have stretched their lead but for some excellent defensive work from Dan Leverton-Vaughan. In the second half Carterton stepped up their attacks but, inevitably, left too big a gap between defence and midfield. On the break, after a goalmouth scramble, the home side stabbed in a second from four yards. For the next ten minutes it was all Carterton – Jordan Anderton running onto two good through balls and outpacing the defence. The first shot went wide, the second scraped the outside of the far post. Nicky Rose and George Godwin were both denied by the North Leigh keeper before the former knocked over one of several good corners and the latter scrambled the ball over the line. At two-one Carterton went all out for the equaliser and gaps at the back became yawning chasms. Saul Garrett made a couple of excellent saves when the home side broke but his and Carterton’s luck could not hold and North Leigh’s third goal sealed the game. Nicky Rose was the visitors’ man of the match for a typical performance of tireless running. Match report by Simon Garrett

21.9.08 County Cup  - Barton United 3 v 2 Carterton U 13’s

A traditional, hard-fought cup tie in baking sun on a rock hard pitch saw Carterton finally out muscled away to Barton United from the Oxford Mail Boys League.
Against the run of play Carterton took the lead after three minutes; Nicky Rose flighted in a perfect corner from the right which was not properly cleared. George Godwin pounced to stab the ball home. A few minutes later another corner from the same source, this time from the left, found Ben Shankland right on the goal line from where he cleverly chested home. Those two early blows rocked the home side and they took some time before getting back into the contest. As the half neared its close they began to press and eventually, a minute from the break, a high looping shot from distance crept in under the bar to make it 1-2. Carterton came close several times in the second half but gradually, Barton took the upper hand. A rebound off the referee fell their way to snatch the equaliser and send the match into extra time. A header from a corner in the first period flew into the net to give Barton the lead for the first time. Carterton threw everything at them in vain and Saul Garrett was called upon to make a superb save down to his right as Barton tried to seal it on the break. 3 – 2 was the final score, George Godwin the Carterton man of the match for his tireless efforts in midfield and attack. A brave effort from the whole team and by no means a disgrace to lose in such a tough battle. Match report by Simon Garrett

14.9.08 Eynsham Youth 6 v 0 Carterton U 13's

It will take a very fine team indeed to stop Eynsham winning the Under 13s B Division this season as Carterton found to their cost. The six nil margin may have flattered the home team slightly but their organisation, swift passing and significant physical strength make them a formidable side. Carterton worked hard at times if without the fluency they showed in their previous two matches. There was plenty of endeavour, particularly from visitors’ man of the match Joe Baldwin who hustled and challenged indefatigably throughout. Dan Leverton-Vaughan was, as usual, a tower in defence and tried hard to get the ball on the ground and make decisive passes. All too often Eynsham’s midfield were too quick and too cute to make it count. Nicky Rose and George Godwin are also deserving of mention for their efforts, and the whole team can take comfort from the fact that they will not be playing Eynsham every week.    U 13 Eynsham 6 v 0 Carterton U 13's     match report by Simon Garrett

With both sides having started the season with comfortable opening victories it would always have been difficult to call his encounter. Carterton came to battle resolutely but it was Eynsham who were to stamp their mark on a very competitive match as they attacked from the off. At a fast and furious pace with neither side been given the opportunity to dwell on the ball it was Eynsham that started to create the better of the chances. Eynsham eventually went in front when a strong run from Adam Burnham who rode two or three tackles threaded the ball through to Rob Pryse who despatched the ball past the away keeper with his right foot to give Eynsham a 1-0 lead. With Carterton being fully committed in their tackling it was a while before the home side increased their lead when a quick throw-in into the penalty box was hooked home by the left foot of Stephen Pearce for 2-0. The same player made it 3-0 when a long clearance from Adam Burnham cleared the away defence bouncing over the advancing keeper for Stephen to nip around the back and slot home giving the home side a solid half-time lead.
Into the second half and Eynsham again taking the game to Carterton were soon 4-0 up when James Talbot lashed in an unstoppable shot when running on to a nice little ball inside the fullback from Liam Botcherby. The same two players were involved in goal number five, this time James Talbot the provider with a pinpoint cross for Liam Botcherby to head firmly past the away keeper. Liam was then to supply a defence splitting ball for Stephen Pearce to move onto and firmly bury over the keeper for his hat-trick and Eynsham's sixth.
The score line was not a true reflection on the endeavour from the Carterton side who contested every ball and I'm sure the reverse fixture at their place will tell a different story.  Well done to both sets of boys  match report taken from W&DYL Web site

7.9.08 Carterton U 13's 10 (ten) v 2 Ducklington

Carterton’s decision to play with the quite strong wind in the first half proved significant as Ducklington struggled to give any service of note to their forwards from the off.  It took just five minutes before home skipper, Nicky Rose, met a goal line clearance at the edge of the box and hit it first time into the roof of the net.  Shortly afterward, Joe Baldwin thundered a second and Carterton were beyond stopping.  After seventeen minutes, Kez Bryer scored the third with a firm strike from the edge of the area; George Godwin made it four two minutes later, Nicky Rose five three minutes after that.  He narrowly missed out on his hat trick when a sweetly hit free kick hit the far post only for Kez Bryer to nip in again for his second and Carterton’s seventh.  Jordan Anderton had not been on the pitch long when he scored the eighth, but Ducklington showed they still had stomach for the fight and pulled one back almost straight away.  Just before half time Anderton made it nine-one.

With the wind now favouring the visitors and their team completely switched round the second half was far more even and for a whole twenty minutes there was not a single goal – which felt rather strange!  Then, good following up after the home keeper spilled a low shot brought Ducklington’s second.  Good work from Adam Full, Harrison Greeves and George Godwin brought a final chance for Joe Baldwin who claimed the tenth.  Five players with two goals apiece is an encouraging start for any side.  Charlie Brooks was the home side’s man of the match at centre half.

26.4.09 KO Cup final - Tower Hill 2 v 1 Carterton Colts - match at Clanfield

19.4.09 Tower Hill 8 v 1 Carterton U 13 Colts

Top of the table Tower march on towards taking the league title with a comprehensive win over local rivals Carterton Colts. With the two teams meeting again next week in the knock-out final, Tower produced an excellent display with the whole team giving their all.
It all started well for Carterton with an early goal from a corner with Elliott Bryant finding the net. Tower didn't waste any time in replying with Jack Holifield's free kick finding Jacob Hughes who passed to Edward Priest with Luke Bolley finishing off a fine move with a well taken goal. Tower then made it 2-1 with man of the match Ed Priest scoring with a powerful shot. Carterton were unlucky with Tower's third goal with the Colts keeper pulling off a fine save from Jacob Hughes only for the ball to spin into the goal. Luke Turner then made it four for Tower with a well taken free kick making the half time score 4-1.
The second half started with Carterton needing an early goal to get back into the game but Tower were in no mood to let them back in. Tackles were flying in on both sides with Jacob Hughes on the end of a very heavy tackle and having to miss part of the half but he came back on to score four more goals to secure a superb 8-1 win.
This was an entertaining feisty game with plenty of hard tackles, two bookings, but Tower came out on top with their excellent passing game winning the day. match report from W&DYFL Web site

22.3.09 Bloxham 2 v 2 Carterton U 13 Colts

Bloxham came from two goals down to earn a deserved draw in a thrilling game with Carterton Colts. The visitors bossed the first quarter and went ahead through an unstoppable shot from Harry Cornforth midway through the half. Bloxham were then a shade unfortunate to have a Kieran Watts goal disallowed, but Carterton finished the half stronger and were only prevented from extending the lead by desperate defending.
Jack Brownrigg broke free ten minutes into the second half and produced a great finish to double the lead. The home team then ended their five game goal drought when Jordan Godfrey produced a clever first time lob and boosted by this Bloxham pressed hard for an equaliser. After having a couple of efforts cleared off the line another cross eventually fell to Anthony Charles who fired home. Carterton came closest to winning it in the last few minutes but a draw was a fair result. match report taken from W&DYFL Web site

15.3.09 Carterton U 13 Colts 3 v 0 Bloxham

Two well taken first half goals from Matty Bicker set Carterton on their way to a win against a battling Bloxham side. The first was an excellent turn and shot, and the second a side footed finish into the corner.
Joe Henry added a third midway through the second half firing home after a corner.
Bloxham's goal drought continued although they came close at the end of each half as a Jordan Godfrey shot was cleared off the line and a Kyle Forbes effort crashed against the bar. match report from W&DYFL Web site

8.3.09 Carterton U 13 Colts 1 v 3 Witney Viking Youth

In electing to play into the wind Carterton handed the initiative to Vikings who duly took a first minute lead when Andy Horne poached a goal, pushing home a loose ball with the home defence still getting used to the wild and windy conditions. This gave the visitors encouragement and other chances came frequently, but it took another ten minutes for Vikings to double their lead. Jack Scott played a great through ball for Jamie Mariani to beat the home keeper comfortably. Colts were finding it hard to get into the Vikings half but still created enough opportunities of their own to get back into the game, however they found the Vikings defence a hard nut to crack. Vikings got a third goal before half-time and this time it was Jamie who set up Yazz Elouahabi who finished superbly.
With the wind slowing down and the rain stopping the second half was a fairly even affair, with Vikings trying to kill off Colts, and Colts getting frustrated by a hardworking visitors' team who were dominating midfield. There were chances aplenty at both ends but when Colts did eventually score it was merely last minute consolation when Elliot Briant bundled his way along the touchline to score from a narrow angle. This was a good sporting game played in difficult but improving conditions, and it was Vikings' teamwork and all round effort that won the day.
Scorers: Colts Elliot Briant. Vikings: Andy Horne, Jamie Mariani and Yazz Elouahabi. match report taken from W&DYFL Web site

25.1.09 Carterton U 13 Colts 1 v 7 Tower Hill

Carterton were taught a lesson on how to play football today by a in form Tower side, they beat Carterton to every ball and wanted it more. Jacob Hughes as usuall was outstanding.

Towers scorers were Ed Priest 2 Lewis Bartlett 1 Jamie Harris1 and Jacob Hughes 3.

Carterton scorer was Matty Knibbs

Tower Hill emphatically beat their close rivals Carterton Colts to go one point behind them at the top of the league with a game in hand.
Tower were up for the game from the start and soon took the lead with a goal from Edward Priest and could have gone further ahead after a corner which the Colts keeper did well to fist over. Carterton then had a chance but Harry Cornforth was blocked by the Tower defence. Tower got stronger as the first half progressed with Craig Keylock having his shot blocked and Luke Turner following up with a shot that went just wide. Tower then made it 2-0 with Jacob Hughes scoring his first of three. Tower were playing some lovely football and nearly made it three with an excellent move from the back with Lewis Bartlett unlucky not to score. Half time score 2-0 Tower.
The second half started exactly as the first with Tower on the attack and were rewarded with a lovely curling effort from Jamie Harris who found the top corner. Carterton kept trying to find their form but were unable to stop Tower scoring again with Luke Turner playing a lovely pass to find Edward Priest who coolly slotted the ball home to make the score 4-0. Carterton then produced their best move for Mattie Bicker to loop the ball over Ben Kinchin in goal to make the score 4-1. That goal spurred Tower on and they were soon scoring again with Jamie Harris finding Jacob Hughes who scored his second. Carterton kept going and indeed hit the post with Adam Moore clearing the ball away. Tower then made it 6 with another well worked goal from the back with Jamie Harris finding Lewis Bartlett who battled up front to score. Craig Keylock was then denied a goal with an excellent save from the Colts keeper who produced a dive to his right that any premiership goalie would have been proud of. Jacob Hughes then completed his hat-trick to make the final score Tower 7 Carterton Colts 1.
This was a pulsating game with Tower Hill producing an awesome performance against their local rivals who to their credit never gave up but were not able to match Tower's sheer determination with Jacob Hughes scoring a hat-trick for a second week and the whole team playing their part in an excellent win which should make Daniel Bullock feel a bit better after unluckily breaking his wrist at training. Best wishes to Dan for a speedy recovery! match report taken from W&DYFL Web site

7.12.08 Witney Vikings Youth 2 v 7 Carterton U 13 Colts

After a mauling last week Vikings began strongly against a team that had netted 17 in their previous game, and took a deserved lead after only four minutes when the visiting keeper spilled Yassin Elouahabi's cross for Andy Horne to prod the ball home. Colts came back strongly and Harry Cornforth cracked home a fine equalizer just 10 minutes later. Undaunted Vikings took the game to Colts and Andy scored again in the 25th minute with a good finish just inside the post. They held this lead until the sixth minute of added time when Colts scrambled home another equalizer.
Half time seemed to leave Vikings deflated and they proceeded to fall apart as Colts scored freely throughout the second half - an eight minute spell saw three goals scored as the balance of the match tipped 2-5 in Colts favour. Some good goals and some virtually gift-wrapped, as they outmuscle the home team to score five second half goals without reply to clinch a fine victory.
Scorers: Witney; Andy Horne (2). Colts: Matty Bicker (2), Nicky Post, Harry Cornforth, Cam Pirie, Jack Brownrigg and Jack Robinson. match report taken from W&DYFL Web site

29.3.09         North Leigh 2 v 4 Carterton U 14's

Carterton travelled to North Leigh in search of a victory - the match was played out in hot warm conditions and was played at a good pace from beginning to end.
Carterton had the advantage of shooting down the hill, and had some good territory in the early stages but couldn't score. It was North Leigh who broke the deadlock after 24 minutes, from a well taken goal - Tom Weedon was put through, after good work on right by Shaun Hiles. Carterton however reacted well to conceding and went straight up the other end and won a corner, Jack Green took the corner and it was inch perfect for Aaron Robins to head in from a few yards out. North had to thank keeper Joe Morse for pulling off a couple of great saves, before they got a deserved equalizer
The second half started at a fast pace again but Carterton took the lead early on in the half, when Dael Campbell finished calmly after being through one-on-one with the keeper. Carterton knew that they needed a third goal to make it safe and continued to attack, but North Leigh equalised from a well taken goal by Jack Meagher after 15 minutes of the second half. Carterton knew they needed all three points so they had to continue to attack and they got there reward with 7 minutes remaining when Oliver Hawkins finished from about 12 yards. Carterton wrapped the game up 5 minutes later when Dael Campbell scored his second of the game from an identical goal to the first goal Carterton scored - Jack green took the corner, it bounced off the crossbar and Dael put it in.
Good luck to North Leigh in the cup final in a few weeks. match report taken from W&DYFL Web site

19.4.09 Under-14 Knock-Out Cup - Final

22.3.09 Banbury United Youth 3 v 0 Carterton U 14's

After last weeks unlucky defeat against 12 men in the cup Carterton travelled to Banbury in search of league points.
Banbury started well applying pressure but Carterton just had they had done last week defended well, and in fact it was Carterton who came closest in the first half when Ollie Hawkins hit the crossbar on the counter attack. Banbury became frustrated late in the first half when they had a penalty appeal correctly turned down. Half time 0-0
The second half continued much of the same manner but with Carterton still a threat on the break. Again the game changed on 45 minutes when Jack Green had to go off injured after a poor challenge which resulted in a yellow card to the defender. Carterton continued to defend well and were thinking about a point when with about 10 minutes left Banbury finally scored from a corner. This seemed to unsettle Carterton as Banbury doubled there lead a minute later. But Carterton refused to give in and created a couple of half chances before Banbury scored again late on to win by a margin that was harsh on Carterton for all there defensive play. match report teakn from W&DYFL Web site

15.3.09 Under-14 Knock-Out Cup - Semi-Final Carterton U 14's 1 v 3 Tower Hill

Having secured the A league title last week, Tower booked their place in the KO Cup Final with a 3-1 win over local rivals Carterton. On a sun blessed afternoon, Tower took an early lead through William Vandenberghe but struggled to build on this against a hard working Carterton side. Ollie Hawkins seized on some hesitation in the Tower defence too level things midway through the first half.
Tower were not playing with their usual composure and for a period looked nervous, but two further goals from William Vandenberghe prior to half time settled them down. The second period was relatively uneventful with Tower happy to play the game out, thus booking their place in the final back at the same ground on April 19th against other local rivals North Leigh. match report from W&DYFL Web site

25.1.09 Bicester Town colts 6 v 2 Carterton U 14

On a near perfect pitch, Bicester used their passing game to good effect, attacking Carterton from the start. However, they had to wait until the 25th minute before they finally beat the impressive Carterton keeper, the break though coming as Darren Eyles picked the ball up in his own half and powered his way the length of the pitch to side foot home into the corner of the net. Almost immediately Bicester doubled their lead, this time Eyles turned provider for Callum Green who found almost exactly the same spot in the goal with another side foot finish. The scoring finished for the half just before the whistle, another quick break, this time from Andrew Ingram, set up Ryan Callow who cooly stroked the ball past the oncoming keeper.
Bicester started the second half well but, as the game wore on, Carterton started to threaten, and indeed, were rewarded for their commitment, on 15 minutes, as a long shot left Rafael Garcia-Krailing with no chance. The next goal would prove critical and Bicester were indebted to John Holt for a headed goal-line clearance from a dangerous corner...unfortunately for Carterton, Andrew Ingram then ran the ball up field to finish well and restore Bicester's 3 goal advantage. Bicester powered on and Ingram set up Callum Green for his second, holding off a defender, rounding the keeper the run the ball into an empty net. With five minutes remaining Bicester swept forward again, a right footed swirling Carl Girling shot going over the keeper for number six. At the death, Carterton hit back one final time, with the last kick of the game.
Man of the Match for Bicester went to Callum Greville, solid at the back, with Darren Eyles picking up Parent's Player of the Match. match report taken from W&DYFL Web site

14.12.08 Carterton U 14's 3 v 5 Bicester Town Colts

On a surprisingly pleasant Sunday afternoon, Bicester made the journey to Carterton eager to make amends for last week's defeat by Bloxham.
However, things didn't go to plan from the start and they found themselves a goal down after 7 minutes, the Carterton striker taking the ball round the advancing keeper to slot into an empty net. This seemed to galvanise Bicester and they struck back immediately through a clinical finish from Callum Green, who went on to complete his hat-trick within 15 minutes. Some good work from the Carterton keeper prevented any further scoring until an excellent interchange between Green and Andrew Ingram carved through the Carterton defence leaving Ingram with a simple tap in. The final goal of the half came as a result of an Andrew Ingram assist, a flick setting up Carl Girling on the edge of the box, his shot rifling into the far corner.
At 5-1 Bicester seemed to be coasting but the lively three-man Carterton attack were a constant threat, and Carterton edged their way back into the game during the second half with two well taken goals. A nervous final ten minutes saw Carterton go close to reducing the deficit further, but a fine close range block by keeper Rafael Garcia-Krailing prevented an even more nail biting finale for the Bicester contingent than the one they had to endure.
Man of the Match for Bicester was Andrew Ingram, with Parent's Player going to Callum Green. match report taken from W&DYFL Web site

5.10.08 Carterton U 14's 2 v 9 Banbury United Youth

Carterton played host to Banbury United on a blustery afternoon at Monaghan Way. Banbury took the lead on 3 minutes. Carterton equalised on 22 minutes after Aaron robins tapped in after a long kick from keeper Danny Chapman beat everyone. However Banbury then scored 3 goals in as many minutes to take a firm grip on the game. Carterton did score right on half time when Aaron robins scored his second after another assist from the keeper.
Banbury now had the wind in their favour and scored 4 goals in a 6 minute spell to lead 8-2. Carterton managed to prevent Banbury scoring until the last kick of the game and Banbury won 9-2. match report taken from W&DYFL Web site

7.9.08 Carterton U 14's 0 v 4 Tower Hill

First game of the season for the U14s saw them pitched against last years runners up who had been strengthened during the down time and Tower Hill appear physically impressive.
With three new signings and kicking into a strong breeze, Tower were held at bay in the first period by some good defending and excellent goalkeeping. The first 15 minutes saw a tough midfield battle with both sides breaking quickly. Carterton matched Tower Hills size and power with quick passing football and lots of effort to close the opposition down. 16 minutes in Carterton lost Patrice Guillois, who had started with a rib injury from boxing, but was unable to continue. We wish him a speedy recovery. 20 minutes and a sleeping Carterton defence received a warning when 2 quick attacks from Tower Hill almost paid off, but poor finishing let them down.
The last 5 minutes of the first half saw the start of a pattern that was to dominate the rest of the game. Tower Hill pressed with corner after corner having to be cleared and great credit must go to the keeper, Danny Chapman, Alex Collett and Dale Campbell whose sterling work at the back kept Carterton in the game.
Carterton started the second half brightly with two missed chances, but the game settled into a repeat of the last 5 of the first and as the pressure mounted the Carterton defence failed to clear the area and Tower Hills' Josh Crossley (on debut) broke through to score from close range. 7 minutes later Jake Horwood capitalised from similar clearance problems and put a speculative back header where the keeper had no chance of saving. 0-2 Tower Hill. To their credit Carterton never gave up, they played with their heads up and Aaron Robins was unlucky not to claw one back when he broke through clear on goal, but shot wide.
Another defensive scrabble in the Carterton goal area saw a home defender play the ball back across his own area and Jake Horwood was gifted a simple tap in for his second and Tower Hills' 3rd. Carterton had a final purple patch 25 - 30 minutes, putting in 3 good attacks, but the Tower Hill defence was just too strong, despite a cracking solo run from Ollie Hawkins. Another corner not cleared saw Josh Crossley dig out the ball for a powerful shot that gave Danny Chapman no chance.
The final score of Carterton 0 Tower Hill 4 flatters Tower Hill who imposed themselves on the second half, but Carterton can take pride in their performance, keep it up and the results will come.
Cameron Hayes picked up the Tower man of the match award for a 'captain's performance'. Match report taken from W&DYFL Web site

Presentation evening 12.6.09 Awards for the season

10.5.09 Carterton U 14 Colts 5 v 2 Yarnton Blues

Carterton entertained Yarnton Blues at their Kilkenny Lane ground for this final match of the Under 14C league.
Yarnton Blues got off to a great start with a fine goal from Eduardo Pereira after just 5 minutes. Yarnton played some lively football in the first half and were unlucky not to increase the lead, before Carterton hit two goals in quick succession just before half-time. The second goal was a long-range unstoppable lob into the top corner of the net.
Carterton started brightest after the break and scored two goals within the first five minutes. The first of these was a well-taken shot from the edge of the area that gave the Yarnton goalkeeper no chance. George Knight reduced the deficit for Yarnton before Carterton scored again in the final minute.
Goal-scorers for Carterton: Jake Cutler (3), Ben Barnes and Harrison Cameron. match report from W&DYFL Web site

26.4.09 Charlbury Town Youth 3 v 1 Carterton U 14 Colts

The last match of the season for Charlbury was played on a warm, sunny afternoon and it was Carterton Colts who started stronger and they were soon 1-0 up, when a strong run down the left and pinpoint cross was met with a fine header from Scott Constantine. This setback seemed to wake Charlbury up and much of the remainder of the half was spent in the Carterton half without any success. Charlbury welcomed back Grant Dawson, James Watkins and Harry Hall after a few weeks and these three combined well to cause most of the chances. Shortly before half time, another run by Dawson was blocked and from the resulting free-kick, Joe Cascone hit a fine strike from 30 yards out that gave the Carterton keeper no chance. 1-1 at half time.
The second half continued in much the same vein, although Carterton constantly looked dangerous on the break, but with Ben Silvester in superb form in the centre of defence no clear chance was allowed. With 15 minutes left, Harry Hall latched onto a through ball and his first time shot was only parried by the keeper into the path of Sam Pullen who made no mistake. With Carterton forced to chase the game, Charlbury created further chances and when a shot by Harry Hall came back off the post, Grant Dawson was on hand to score Charlbury's third. To their credit, Carterton continued to press and almost pulled a goal back but for some good goalkeeping by Jack Collins.
And so the season finished with a win for Charlbury but this was an excellent match played in the right spirits by two very well matched sides who will no doubt be challenging for the league next year. Good luck in your final match Carterton and see you next season. match report from W&DYFL Web site

22.2.09 Yarnton Blues 1 v 6 Carterton U 14 Colts

Another second half collapse for Yarnton. Yarnton started sprightly and took the lead after 5 minutes when Jack Knight pounced onto a low pass from Andy Gillespie to hit a well-taken angled shot low into the bottom of the net.
There were few chances for either team in the first half, with Yarnton having most of the possession and creating some good approach play , and Carterton looking to hit back on the break. Carterton hit the post before equalizing on 25 minutes.
The second half started with both teams gong forward to try and break the deadlock. A well-hit long shot from about 30 yards out put Carterton 2-1 up 15 minutes into the second half. Alden Conley made a great saving tackle for Yarnton running back to the six year box and pushed the ball past the post, only to be injured in the process. After that, Yarnton went down to two gifted goals when they failed to clear our lines. All credit to the team for still pushing forward to try and reduce the deficit. Some excellent approach play from Eduardo Periera who combined well with Matt Richards on the left. Carterton bagged two more goals, one of which was a high looping shot, taken on by the wind which goalie Jimmy Clark got a hand to but couldn't hold. The final kick of the game was a penalty taken by Jack Knight for Yarnton which was palmed onto the post by the Carterton goalie.

7.12.08 Carterton U 14 Colts 0 v 8 Bicester Town FC

On a chilly day at Carterton's ground. Bicester only having 12 players and Carterton only having 11 it was a tough game.
After ten minutes Bicester were the better team but Carterton's 'keeper T.C was a form with two great saves. Then great play by Bicester saw them take a 1-0 lead by a Joseph Dickson goal. Carterton really trying there best couldn't find a way though the Bicester defence, Zane Murray made a great challenge and from that it was two Oli Jordan scoring the second. 23.11.08 Under-14 Knock-Out Cup - 2nd Round  North Leigh 11 v 0v Carterton U 14 Colts

As the score line suggests this turned out to be a relatively one sided game, though it took North a good twenty minutes to open the scoring. Colts showed great determination early on in defending the slope, in sticky conditions they did well to contain an in form North Leigh side for such a long time. North' opener came via a Tom Weedon tap in, they added three further goals before the break, two coming from Jack Meagher and another from Tom Weedon.
Into the second half Colts continued to work hard, but the heavy conditions started to take its toll. North took full advantage and scored seven more goals, another from Tom Weedon to complete his hatrick, with a goal a piece for Josh Burnham, James Turner and Shaun Hiles.
North's man of the match Jack Meagher capped a fine performance with a five goal haul. match report from W&DYFL Web site

29.3.09 League Cup Semi Final Carterton 3 v 1 Radley

Carterton beat Radley 3-1 in a hard fought League Cup Semi Final played at Abingdon Town Football Club. Radley had most of the play in the first 20 minutes but Carterton added Daniel Ford into the centre of midfield which immediately changed the balance of play and allowed Connor Kelly the freedom to play a perfect pass to Ben Brown who in turn rocketed in Caterton's first goal. Luke Hammell then played almost an identical pass a few minutes later for Ben Brown to fire home his and Carterton's second.
Carterton then put the game beyond Radley with a fine finish by Chris Leonnards early in the second half to make the score 3-0 but this just seemed to inspire Radley, however, time was against Radley and although they pulled a goal back with 15 minutes to go an excellent save by Ben Grove the Carterton keeper plus some stout defending by Jack Henry and Sean Godfrey in Carterton's central defence helped Carterton to get through to the final.

Match Report:
Tough, well-fought game which typified the spirit of the OMBL under 15s A-league. Park dominated periods of the match and deservidly lead at the half time after Lamar Quammie produced a brace of goals. However, Carterton battled well in the second half  and capitalised from quick breaks to keep them in the game. In the end, a hatrick from  Carl Russel wasn't enough to cancel out Park's strength and determination to come away with all three points. report from OMBL Web site

12.10.08 Carterton U 15's 0 v 4 Ardington

After a tight goalless first half, Ardington uped their game in the 2nd period. Whitehead broke the deadlock with a crisp left foot drive, and then put
Robbie Brown free to drive past the advancing keeper to double the lead.  After losing keeper Matty Boffin through injury, Freddy haynes ably stood in.
Elliot Baldwin neatly tucked away the third before providing a pin point cross  to the far post for Whitehead to head home his second and complete the scoring. match report taken from the Oxford Mail Boys Football league Web site

5.10.08 Carterton U 15's 4 v 4 Florence Park (goals Louis Joyce 2, Lamar Quammie, Carl Webster)

Fantastic strike from Louis Joyce late on in the match gave Flo Park a deserved point after battling back from 3 - 1 down at 1/2 time.  Report taken from Oxford mail Boys Football league Web site.

28.9.08 Radley 5 v 2 Carterton U 15

21.9.08 Oxford Blackbirds 0 v 3 Carterton U 15's

Carterton’s second away fixture of the new season was at Oxford Blackbirds.  Carterton took all the points with a 3-0 victory this despite the
Blackbirds goalkeeper Danny Bryant saving two second half penalties. This was a hard fought game with Blackbirds determined to stop
Carterton playing and this tactic seemed to be working with the first half ending goalless. Carterton looked a lot sharper at the beginning of
the second half and started to create more and more chances. Finally the dead lock was broken when Ben Brown somehow managed to find the bottom corner from a cross looping over his head. Blackbirds then had to commit more players forward trying to get an equaliser which did allow them to create more chances but it also meant Carterton could find more room and this lead to Ben Brown being bought down in the area but it was the Blackbirds keeper who pulled out a brilliant save the keep his team in the game. Carterton were not to be denied when a few minutes later Karl Russell found some space and his speed took him past the Blackbirds defence to blast the ball into the top corner. The game was put beyond Blackbirds with the next attack when Ben Brown got his second with a firm headed cross.
Although Carterton ended up with the points the last word finished with the Blackbirds keeper Danny Bryant when he made his second penalty save
of the game following Daniel Ford had been brought down in the box. match report by Graham Ford

14.9.08 Appleton 1 v  7  Carterton U 15's

Goal Scorers: Carterton: Connor Kelly (3), Daniel Ford (2), Chris Lennards, Karl Russell, Ben Brown
Match Report taken from the OMBL Web site:-Carterton opened their account with a deflected Karl Russell shot on 10 minutes but only managed to add one other goal from Ben Brown in the first half.
The second 40 minutes was one way traffic with Carterton seeming to score at will. The highlight was a hat trick from Connor Kelly who got his third with a brilliant chip over the advancing Appleton keeper. Appleton did pull one back but the points were  already in the bag for Carterton. Chris Lennards got his first of the season as did Daniel Ford grabbing two with his second a rifling shot into the top corner following a run from the half way line.

 7.9.08 Carterton U 15   5  (Karl Russell (3) Ben Brown (2))v  2 Horspath

Carterton got back into the new season with a 5-2 victory over Horspath. Despite Carterton having the majority of possession it was Horspath who opened the scoring but Carterton hit straight back with a stunning strike from Karl Russell.
Carterton took the lead with two goals in as many minutes, another from Karl Russell and a well worked goal finished off by Ben Brown. Horspath stayed in the game with a goal right on the half time whistle.
Ben Brown got his second of the game for Carterton shortly after the interval but even though Horspath were two behind they kept pressing and it was not until Karl Russell capped a brilliant performance with a hat trick goal 5 minutes before the end to finally put the game beyond Horspath.

30.5.09 Abingdon tournament

The Under 16's/18s continued their recent good form in to their first 6 a side tournament, at Abingdon.. Carterton got of to a great start by beatig Milton 1-0 by a bit of class from Stid for Jamo to put it in to the empty net.
After a short break, Carterton was in to the 2nd game against the home team Abingdon Town, with this game so tight there was no surprise the game finished 0-0 with both teams getting chances.
Carterton going into their 3rd game with high of confidence after collecting 4 points out of the 6. Carterton played Westwood and a ball over the top from Adam Lee to lead to a beautiful finish by Stid when he chipped the keeper in Westwood goal, to win 1-0.
As Carterton had two games in a row, Carterton had to make a quick switch round to face Abingdon Town for the 2nd time in the tournament. The game was tight and the game was coming to the end, all it needed was a bit of skill from Jamo to get brought down in the box, for Stid to step up and beat the keeper to put Carterton 1-0 up. As Abingdon started to argue, Carterton took advantage of that, when Jamo put the ball through the keepers legs to make it 2-0 and gives Carterton all 3 points.
Carterton gained another 3 points against Milton in the 2nd time of facing them, thanks to Marc Billins to put us 1-0 up and to win the game and give Carterton 13 points out of 15. Carterton went into their last game knowing they have secured top spot. Carterton went into the game against 2nd place Westwood, them knowing only a point is needed to get them through to the semi final. it wasn't long till Carterton went 1-0 up, from a Mark Norridge wonder strike. Carterton sat back and wasn't long till Carterton conceded their first goal of the tournament, the game finish 1-1.

As Both Carterton teams reached the semi final and Carterton B players Garden City and Carterton A played Westwood. Carterton A played first in the semi final against Westwood and unfortunately lost 1-0.

Carterton B was high of confidence after achieving 14points out of 18 in the group stage. A close and tight game, with both teams getting chances with Connor Kelly going close and josh bishop keeping Carterton in the game . When Carterton got caught in possession, but Josh Bishop (Bosh) pulled off fine saves. Needed a bit of magic from Stid down the left side to cut in to lay the ball across for marc Billins to tap it into a empty net and put us in to the final.

Carterton B going into the final against Westwood, for the 3rd time of facing each other in the tournament. Carterton going into high confidence after beating Westwood once and drawing, as well in the group stages, the game was tight, both team getting chances and no-one could take them, it finished 0-0.
Extra time began and witnessed two very tired looking teams canceling each other out. 2 minutes till penalties, as Carterton kept ball to wait for an opening, the was put through to Stid to beat the keeper and put it in the bottom corner, to give Carterton a 1-0 lead and to win the cup, for Captain Adam Lee to lift it to glory.

Team A: Jordan Day, Alex Evans, Andy Macintosh, George Seacole, Cameron Wingate, Liam Elliott, Daniel Thompson

Team B: Josh Bishop, Adam Lee, Mark Norridge, Connor Kelly, Jamie Macdonogh (Jamo), Stephen Reed (Stid), Marc Billins

Carterton Under 18’s gained three valuable points on Thursday with a 4 – 2 victory at home to Buckingham Athletic in the Allied Counties Youth League. Carterton soon took control of the game and went in front after 13 minutes, when Chris Zoldan headed home an Adam Browning cross. Carterton dominated the remainder of the first half but were unable to increase their lead before the break. However, it took just 2 minutes into the second period for Carterton to double their lead, when Jonny Dover took advantage of a mistake by the visiting keeper to score his first of the season. The game appeared to be over just 3 minutes later when skipper Matt Parry scored to make it 3 – 0. For some reason, the home side then appeared to “switch-off” and allowed Buckingham to pull 2 goals back, before David Craig headed home an Andy Stone free-kick to secure the points for Carterton.

11.12.08 Carterton U 18's 2 v 2 Abingdon Town

A brace from Chris Zoldan helped Carterton Youth gain a 2 – 2 draw with Abingdon Town at Kilkenny Lane on Thursday night.
The game got off to a frantic start, with both teams initially struggling to come to terms with the icy pitch and freezing conditions. Carterton took the lead in the 12th minute when a deep cross from Adam Lee was cleverly headed past Brewerton in the Abingdon goal. However, Carterton’s advantage lasted only 3 minutes, before the home defence failed to clear the ball properly and a scramble in the box resulted in Dan Maughan prodding home the equaliser for the visitors. The game was very finely balanced throughout the rest of the first period, with both sides trying to play football on the difficult icy surface. Carterton went close on a few occasions with good efforts from Jonny Dover, Stephan Reed and Chris Zoldan, but Abingdon were also creating a few opportunities and with just 5 minutes to go before the interval, Town took the lead when Carterton keeper Josh Bishop was able to parry away a fierce shot, only for Richard Scott to follow up and score with a header. Abingdon nearly increased their lead just before the break, when Matt Parry was caught in possession, but Josh Bishop pulled off a fine save to keep Carterton in the game.
Carterton came out for the second half full of determination and nearly drew level within 3 minutes when Chris Zoldan’s header came back off the cross-bar and soon after, Max Winpenny was put through, but his effort was well saved by Brewerton. However, 27 minutes into the half, Adam Lee played a superb ball through to Adam Browning, whose powerful run took him into the Abingdon area and the wrong side of one of the defenders who brought him down for a blatant penalty. Chris Zoldan confidently stepped up to take the kick, which he put away with aplomb. Both sides went in search of the winner, but it was probably a fair outcome that the game ended 2 – 2. Well done to all the lads for an excellent performance in very difficult conditions.
Final Score: Carterton 2 – 2 Abingdon Town

12.11.08 North Leigh 1 v 2 Carterton U 18's

The U-18s Youth Team continued their recent good run of League results with a hard fought 2 – 1 victory at local rivals North Leigh.
Following the recent heavy rain, the pitch very muddy and slippery, making it very difficult for both teams to find their rhythm and play good passing football. With Carterton kicking up the notoriously steep slope of the Eynsham Park pitch, the first half was an evenly contested affair, with the visitors breaking the deadlock on the half-hour when a Jamie Amer free-kick found David Craig who struck home his first goal of the season.
The second half was again very evenly contested, with the visitors having to work overtime to try and contain the lively and skilful North Leigh midfield and there was a noticeable sense of relief when, with only 10 minutes remaining, Adam Browning made a strong run down the right and crossed for Chris Zoldan to put Carterton 2 – 0 up. However, the 2-goal cushion only lasted 5 minutes before the home side pulled a goal back, to make for an uncomfortable last 5 minutes for Carterton to hold on for the victory that moves them up to 4th place in the League. Final Score: North Leigh 1 – 1 Carterton MOM Ali Cox
Team: D Floyd, A Cox, J Collett, J Amer, M Parry, A Stone, D Craig, C Zoldan, A Browning, D Noonan, S Reed, J Merrill, A Lee, J Smith.
Managers View
This was an entertaining game played by two very evenly matched sides, in the right spirit, on a very difficult pitch. In truth, I think North Leigh surprised us a bit, by being better than we expected. They had a few very talented and dangerous players that caused us quite a few problems. However, once again the Carterton players ground out a result and I was extremely happy and relieved to leave Eynsham Park with all 3 points.
It goes to prove that there are no easy games in this league this season. If we had lost last night we would have dropped below North Leigh to second from bottom, but our victory has moved us up the table to 4th position with games in hand on the leaders. We have no game next week. Our next match is on Thursday 27th November away at Kidlington.
We then have a County Cup match away at Marston Saints on Sunday 30th November.

30.10.08 ACYL League Cup - Carterton U 18's 1 v 1 Abingdon United  (away win on penalties)

Carterton Under 18s bowed out of the Allied Counties Youth League Cup, following a dramatic penalty shootout against Abingdon United last Thursday evening at Kilkenny Lane. Manager, Mark Dover used this cup match as an opportunity to rest a number of the regular senior players and give some of the younger/fringe squad members a game.
Abingdon started the game strongly and it was no surprise when they took the lead after just 10 minutes, when the home defence failed to clear the ball and allowed Haysham to steal in at the far post to score. Carterton gradually worked their way back into the game and the remainder of the first half was an even affair, but with no further goals added. The second period nearly started disastrously for the home team, when with just two minutes played, Abingdon were correctly awarded a penalty kick following a mistimed tackle by Josh Cussell. However, Danny Floyd brilliantly saved the spot kick to keep Carterton’s hopes alive. As the second half progressed, Carterton continued to apply the pressure on their visitors, but found the Abingdon defence and in particular their goalkeeper Jamie Mold in uncompromising form and it appeared the game was slipping away from the hosts, until in added time, with just 14 seconds remaining on the Referees watch, the ball was played through to Max Winpenny, who kept his composure to slide the ball under the advancing keeper; and take the match into extra-time.
The extra 30 minutes witnessed two very tired looking teams cancel each other out. Adam Lee thought he had given Carterton the lead when his superb 20 yard effort flew into the top corner of the visitors goal, only for the officials to disallow the goal due to a questionable infringement, and the game went to the lottery of a penalty shoot-out. Unfortunately, the home side failed to hit the net with their first 3 spot kicks, whilst the visitors scored with theirs, and it was Abingdon who progress to the next round of the Cup, where they will travel away to Hillingdon Borough.
Final Score: Carterton 1 – 1 Abingdon United     MOM Danny Floyd
Team: D Floyd, J Cussell, A Cox, J Merrill, J Amer, D Craig, J Oswald, S Reed, A Browning, J Dover, M Winpenny, A Lee, J Collett, J Smith.

Although it was disappointing to go out the Cup, I was delighted with the effort and commitment put in by all the players. I was also very encouraged by the attitude performances of the younger and non-regular squad players, who took the opportunity to prove that they can compete at this level. (However, I think we may have to practice penalty kicks before any future cup games).
We have no game this week. Our next match is on Wednesday 12th November away at local rivals North Leigh. All support, and help with transport, will be greatly appreciated.
message from Abingdon United:-  Hi Mark. I would just like to say thank you very much for the game last night, all of our team [ and parents ] enjoyed the evening not just the football but the way we were looked after before, during and after the game. A credit to you and all of the volunteers of Carterton F.C. Kind regards. Steven and Steve

23.10.08 Carterton U 18's 3 v 0 Old Woodstock Town

A sloppy and below par performance saw Carterton make hard work of beating bottom of the table Old Woodstock Town at Kilkenny Lane on Thursday evening.
The first half was fairly evenly fought, with the visitors having a goal disallowed for off-side after 12 minutes, before Carterton broke the deadlock on the half-hour with a fine goal from Stephan Reed, and the hosts were relieved to reach the break 1 – 0 up.
Carterton continued to struggle to find any rhythm after the interval and were guilty of giving the ball away on too many occasions. For periods of the second-half, Old Woodstock held the initiative and they were unfortunate not to get back on level terms when a well hit shot came back of the crossbar, bouncing on the goal line before being cleared. Unfortunately, the Old Woodstock’s inability to score the equaliser led to frustration by their players, which resulted in a number of crude and dangerous challenges being committed by the visitors. Carterton responded in the best possible way by ignoring the intimidation and concentrating on the game, and were rewarded when, with 10 minutes remaining, the Referee spotted a visiting defender handle the ball in his own penalty area and Jamie MacDonogh coolly struck the ball home from the resulting spot kick. This knocked the stuffing out of Old Woodstock and in the final seconds of the game Chris Zoldan was put through and calmly slid the ball under the advancing keeper, to give Carterton a rather flattering 3 – 0 victory.
Final Score: Carterton 3 – 0 Old Woodstock Town
MOM Jamie MacDonogh
Team: J Bishop, A Lee, J Collett, M Parry, A Stone, D Craig, J MacDonogh, A Browning, S Reed, C Zoldan, J Dover, M Winpenny, J Merrill, J Oswald, D Floyd.

Although this may have been a disappointing overall performance, the team is proving that it does have the ability to grind out a result even when not playing particularly well. Once again I was especially pleased that the Carterton players did not let the aggressive and intimidating behaviour of the opposition, or the inconsistencies of the match officials provoke them into stupid retaliation or arguments and for the second game running, I believe our players keeping their heads, whilst the opposition were losing theirs, was a major factor in us winning both games.
This Thursday, (30th Oct) we are at home to Abingdon United in the League Cup. We will look at this game as an opportunity to give some of the fringe/junior members of the squad a starting run-out, whilst giving some of the Senior members a rest.

16.10.08 Abingdon United 0 v 3 Carterton U 18's (J.MacDonagh D.Noonan C.Zoldan)

An excellent second-half performance saw the U18s gain an impressive 3 – 0 victory away at Abingdon United on Thursday night in the Allied Counties Youth League.
The first-half was a fairly even, but uninspiring affair, with Carterton struggling to come to terms with the host’s physical approach to the game that was not always kept in check by the Referee. However, Carterton gradually played their way into the match and started to put Abingdon under pressure by playing some neat counter-attacking football, but neither side was able to break the stalemate before the interval.
Carterton started the second period very positively and immediately forced the early pressure and within 5 minutes of the restart took the lead when Jamie Amer struck a dangerous free-kick deep into the Abingdon penalty area for substitute Chris Zoldan to ghost-in at the far post and steer the ball home. A minute later, the visitors doubled their lead when Adam Browning was upended by the Abingdon Goalkeeper and Jamie MacDonogh coolly put away the resulting penalty. Carterton went on to totally dominate the remainder of the game and created numerous chances to increase their lead before Dy Noonan scored with a superb 20 yard effort to finally make the points safe.
Final Score: Abingdon United 0 v 3 Carterton FC  MOM: Andy Stone
Team: D Floyd, A Cox, J Collett, J Amer, M Parry, A Stone, D Craig, J MacDonogh, A Browning, D Noonan, S Reed, C Zoldan, M Winpenny.

12.10.08 U 18 Joe Roughton Youth Cup  OFA - Round 1 - Carterton U 18's 7 v 1 Thame Youth

Carterton Under 18’s progressed to the second round of the "Joe Roughton” Oxfordshire Under 18’s Youth Cup following a convincing 7 – 1 victory over Thame Youth at Kilkenny Lane on Sunday. Max Winpenny scored a brace, with Jamie Amer, Dy Noonan, Ali Cox, Matt Parry and Adam Browning all getting on the score sheet. Carterton will now meet Marston Saints in the next round of the Cup in November.  Final Score: Carterton 7 v 1 Thame Youth
MOM: Joe Collett

9.10.08 Carterton U 18's  4 ( J.MacDonagh(2)  OG  M.Winpenny ) v 2 Witney United

Carterton Under 18’s got back to winning ways on Thursday with a convincing 4 - 2 victory over local rivals Witney United at Kilkenny Lane. The home side looked the livelier of the two teams from the start, passing the ball around with confidence and looking very solid at the back. However, for all their dominance, Carterton were made to work hard for the opener, by some resolute defending by the visitors. The deadlock was finally broken midway through the first period, when Jonny Dover won the ball in the air and flicked it on for Jamie MacDonogh who calmly slotted the ball past the advancing keeper. Carterton had a glorious chance to extend the lead before half time, when following some excellent passing football, the ball was played into the Witney goal area where Jonny Dover astonishingly spooned the ball over the bar from three yards out.
It took only 3 minutes of play in the second period for Carterton to double their lead, when Max Winpenny was played through and he coolly slotted the ball past Horne in the visitors goal. The home side where then guilty of losing concentration and within a minute, Craig Wood had pulled one back for Witney. Although Witney sensed that they could get something from the game and started to play with more vigour and belief, Carterton were still the dominant force and their two goal advantage was restored twenty minutes later, when a dangerous cross into the penalty area came off a defender and into the net. The match was sewn-up with 15 minutes remaining when Jamma MacDonogh added his second; unleashing a first-time shot from a tight angle across goal and into the far corner with the keeper at full stretch. Witney managed to scrape some respectability from the game with a goal from Sam Wright in the final minutes of the game, but it wasn’t enough to stop Carterton gaining a well deserved win.  Final Score: Carterton 4 v 2 Witney United  MOM: David Craig

29.9.08 Buckingham Athletic 1 v 0 Carterton U 18's

The Under 18’s Youth Team’s stuttering start to the season continued when they were beaten 0 – 1 at Buckingham Athletic on Monday night. Carterton struggled to find any real rhythm in the first half, with Athletic quicker on the ball and stronger in the tackle than then visitors, who were failing to keep the ball in the important areas, leaving the defence exposed to wave after wave of Buckingham pressure. This pressure finally told when Athletic took the lead, 10 minutes before half-time, with a crisp shot from the edge of the penalty area.
After the interval Carterton came out with a far more positive attitude and started to pass the ball around and compete for challenges, and as they wrestled control of the game away from the home team, Carterton started to control the game and create scoring opportunities, but all too often the final shot or cross was wayward. The closest Carterton came to an equaliser was when Adam Browning saw his effort come back of the upright and Max Winpenny’s follow up shot hit Carterton’s Chris Zoldan on the goal line before being cleared by the Athletic defence. The final 15 minutes of the game saw Carterton encamped around the Buckingham goal, but just like the previous match against Windsor & Eton, they were unable to find that vital finishing touch.
The final score was tough on Carterton, but they have to now pick themselves up for next weeks local derby against Witney United.
Final Score: Buckingham Athletic 1 v 0 Carterton

25.9.08 FA Youth Cup   Carterton U 18's  0 v 1 Windsor & Eton

Carterton U 18s Youth team suffered a cruel exit from the FA Youth Cup on Thursday evening, following an unlucky 0 – 1 defeat against Windsor & Eton at Kilkenny Lane.
The first half was a very evenly matched affair, played at a frantic pace as is so often the case in cup games. Carterton were very unlucky to go behind in the 38th minute to a fluke?? (or brilliant??) goal, when visiting midfielder Alex Littlejohn shot from all of 40+ yards and his kick flew past the outstretched arm of Danny Floyd into the top corner of the net.
After the half-time interval, Carterton laid siege to the Windsor & Eton goal and they should have leveled the score 15 minutes into the second period when they were awarded a penalty. However, Skipper Matt Parry, who scored from the spot in the previous round at Sandhurst, this time, saw his effort saved by visiting goalkeeper Niall Bradley. More chances came and went for Carterton, Adam Browning, Max Winpenny and Stephan Reed all going close, but Bradley in the visitor’s goal was in outstanding form to all the home teams’ efforts out. As Carterton pressed more and more men forward in search of the equalizer, they were nearly caught with a sucker punch; when with 5 minutes remaining, Windsor & Eton mounted a rare counter-attack and it took the ‘save 0f the season’ from Floydy to prevent the visitors increasing their lead.
It was a brave effort from the lads, but it just wasn’t our night and good luck to Windsor & Eton in the next round.
Final Score: Carterton 0 v 1 Windsor & Eton.  match report by Mark Dover

18.9.08 Carterton 0 v 2 Kidlington

Carterton U18s Youth Team’s League Campaign got off to a disappointing start last night, with a 0 – 2 home defeat to Kidlington. Following their recent impressive performances against Oxford United, Sandhurst Town and the County Representative Side, the Team was full of confidence and optimism for their forthcoming league challenge. Unfortunately, last night the team never really got going against a hard working and very physical Kidlington side, who were clearly out to make amends for their surprise defeat against Kintbury Rangers in their opening league game.
However, it took a fluke goal midway through the first half for the visitors to take the lead, when a deep cross from the attacking right wing alluded forwards, defenders and Floydy in the home goal and the ball dropped into the net in the far corner. Kidlington then went on to dominate the remainder of the first period and the home team were relieved to go into the interval only one goal behind.
The second half was a more even contest, with Carterton at last starting to create a few half chances, but without ever really threatening the Kidlington goal. The visitors became more physical in their defending as the Referee struggled to maintain control of the game. Kidlington made sure they would leave with all three points, when with less than 5 minutes remaining they were awarded a free-kick just outside the Carterton penalty area and the perfectly struck free-kick flew into the top corner of the net.
If truth be told, the better team on the night took the points and the Carterton players will have to get over the disappointment and lift themselves in time for next weeks FA Youth Cup match against Windsor and Eton.     Match report by Mark Dover

15.9.08 Friendly Carterton 3 v 1 v Oxforshire U 18's

10.9.08 FAY Cup - Sandhurst Town 0 v 1 Carterton U 18's
Will be taking a coach for this match, so there will be available seating

The U18s played Sandhurst last night in the FA Youth Cup. Came away with a 1-0 victory. Incredible game to watch. Sandhurst battled right until the final whistle. Goal came from a penalty in the 55th minute. I would like to thank Mark Dover for organising and offering spare seats on the coach and a big thank you to our hosts who looked after us extremely well. Report by John McCarthy.

A superb all-round team performance saw Carterton gain a thrilling 1 – 0 victory away at Southern Youth League side Sandhurst Town, to progress to the next round of the FA Youth Cup.

The first half featured some excellent football with both sides passing the ball crisply and accurately and looking to attack at every opportunity. Considering that this was Carterton’s first competitive match of the season, the team settled into their stride very quickly and controlled the game for most of the first half, but could not translate their pressure into a goal and the game remained goalless at the interval.

Sandhurst came out for the second half full of determination and endeavour, but Carterton, remained solid in defence and quickly weathered the early storm, and 10 minutes into the second period the deadlock was broken when Jamma MacDonogh made a surging run into the Sandhurst penalty area and was unceremoniously scythed down and the visitors were rightly awarded a penalty. Having had a spot-kick saved in the pre-season game against Oxford City, Skipper Matt Parry showed a lot of guts by insisting he take the kick and his courage was vindicated as he coolly struck the ball past the keeper. The euphoric reaction of the Carterton players showed just how much that goal and the game meant to them. The remainder of the second half was much more frantic than the first, if no less exciting, with both sides creating more and more scoring opportunities, but Carterton were not quite able to get that all-important second goal that would have made the game virtually safe. As the match entered the final stages and the visitor’s legs began to tire, Sandhurst proceeded to throw everything at Carterton as they searched desperately for an equaliser. However, tremendous team-work, together with an abundance of determination and resilience saw the visitors hold on to their lead and book their place in the next round of the Cup.

Well done to both sets of players for a very entertaining game played between two evenly matched sides that competed in a physical but fairly contested game, every single Carterton player should be congratulated for a magnificent all-round display. Report by Mark Dover

Entrance Fees            Information from Mark Dover:-

I am sometimes asked why we charge an entrance fee for Youth Team matches.  The answer is simply that it is not cheap to play at this level of football.  Each home game costs approximately £ 120 to stage (match officials, refreshments, food after the game & floodlighting) plus of course the washing of kit after both home & away games.  With 9 league games and on average at least 2 home coup games during the season we are looking at over £ 1300 to run the team.  If we were to recover the costs just through match fees, each player would end up paying about £80 for the season, which is a lot of money for a youngster.  By charging an entrance fee, plus other activities such as running a "Football card" at 1/2 time & after the game, allows us to reduce the fees for each player to £ 50 for the season, which I believe is excellent value for the standard of football provided.  What we do desperately need though are volunteers to help collect entrance fees & organise fund-raising activities.  We also always need volunteers to help with transport to away games.
