28.1.12 Carterton 0 v Benson Utd 3

For the first half of the match this was a very even game with both teams coming very close to scoring. The break through for Benson came in the second half after about 10 minutes when Benson pounced on a poorly cleared goal kick and took the opportunity to score with a great strike. After that score Benson looked the livelier of the two teams and although Carterton had some great opportunities to score, it was Benson that rounded off the morning’s football with a further 2 goals. The Benson score could have been higher but for some great goal keeping from Carterton’s Sophie Stevens.

19.11.11 Carterton 0 v Kidlington 5

Kidlington started this match very quickly and went ahead within the first couple of minutes following some very quick passing. Carterton for their part looked half a sleep and were very slow to come out of their starting blocks. Kidlington were 3 goals up within the first 5 mins and looked as though they would have no problems reaching double fixtures. Fortunately Carterton then began to respond and started competing for the ball at which point the game took on a completely different format. Having soaked up a lot of pressure Carterton began to put together some of their own attacks through Sophie Riley, Rebecca Jenkins and Robbie Banks. Kidlington scored a forth goal shortly before half time to complete a very good first half performance.
The second half was a totally different looking match with both teams competing very hard for the ball in defence and mid-field. Carterton squandered a couple of open chances to score but it was Kidlington that had the final say of the second half scoring their fifth goal of the match.

15/10/11 OMGFL U12
Carterton FC 1 (goal Sophie Riley) v  Chinnor 2 (goals Amy Bennett (2))
This really was a game of two halves, with Chinnor dominating most of the first half and Carterton doing the same for most of the second half. Carterton struggled to get out of their own half in the first half and Chinnor went ahead after 10 minutes following a well struck cross by Amy Bennett that went across the goal and found the back of the Carterton net.  Half time score: Carterton FC 0 Chinnor
Carterton came out a different team in the second half and almost equalised within the first minute following some tight passing in the Chinnor goal area. Some slack marking following a Carterton Goal kick let Amy Bennett in for well taken second goal. Carterton’s goal came a few minutes later from a corner. Rebbecca Jenkins struck a great ball into the heart of the Chinnor goal mouth and as Chinnor failed to clear the ball Sophie Riley scored an opportunist goal. Carterton had Chinnor under pressure for the remainder of the second half but were unable to find the equaliser. Chinnor finished worthy winners in a keenly fought match.

01/10/11 Carterton 4 v 1 Wantage Girls
Wantage took the lead after 5 mins through Tilly Breakspear, following a corner where the ball crept in at the near corner post past the Carterton defence. Carterton drew level after 15 mins following a clearance from Tatty McIntyre for centre forward Sophie Riley to run on to from the halfway line. Sophie ran with the ball for 25 yds, with the defenders in hot pursuit before striking the ball into the net.

Carterton’s second and third goals came in the 5th and 20th min of the second half, following some great interplay between Rebecca Jenkins and Sophie Riley and dominant mid-field play; Sophie Riley put both goals away making a great hat-trick and a first win of the season for Carterton.

28.1.12 Carterton 2 v Banbury Utd 1
The Banbury team were short on players this week, so Carterton reduced their numbers to match.
In under 20 seconds of the first half, Emily Doyle scored but although Carterton poured on more and more pressure, a second goal would not come.
In the second half Carterton’s Molly Greeves made a great run down the left to score Carterton’s second goal. Now Banbury came alive, putting Carterton under pressure, resulting in a goal by Banbury’s Emily Parker to take the score to 2 – 1 to the home team.
It was a cold morning but both teams played good game.
3.12.11 Carterton 1 v 1 Stonesfield Strikers

Stonesfeild and Carterton were both evenly match teams but Carterton got the break in the first half with a goal by Molly Greeves. Stonesfeild came close a few times but could not get it in the back of the net but with a backward pass from a Carterton player the ball went through the goalie’s legs and made it 1 all. Both teams battled for the winning goal but the final score was 1 all. A great morning’s football by both teams.

26.11.11 Oxford City 7 Carterton FC 0
Carterton held Oxford City girls until half time .Carterton girls should be so proud of themselves for a great game on Saturday morning.
It was far from a walk in the park for the Oxford girls. Carterton's defence could not be broken down and Oxford just could not break through in the first half .
So in the second half Oxford brought on their number 12, who is like a train. She powered through the Carterton defence and Carterton ended up 7 0 down.
Oxford City's Manger commented at the end of the game how much Carterton have improved their play and defending. Final score 7 - 0 to Oxford

19.11.11 Carterton 5 v 1 Kingham

Well what a game for Carterton U13 girls. Kingham came out in the first half and it was not long before they got one in the back of the net to make it 1 - 0 to Kingham but with three girls off this week Caterton still turned on the pressure and then the goals started to go in. First Catlin Turner, then Molly Greeves, followed by Morgan Croxford and two more from Molly to finish off the game .
Good spirit from Kingham and their only goal scorer Tia Edgington.

A big thank you to Kingham for lending us one of their players for 20 minutes at the beginning of the match'

12.11.11 Kidlington 5 0 Carterton
Good game at Kidlington. 5 - 0 win to Kidlington with E Young (3), R Newman and Zoe Chung scoring their goals but still a delight to play them.
Carterton girls just could not get the ball in the back of the net. In the last ten minutes of the game, they pushed hard and came close twice but still came away smiling.
5.11.11 Carterton1 v 9 Didcot Casuals

Great game for both sides. Yes Carterton lost but they just get better and better each week. Annabelle Legood getting the only Carterton goal in the first half. Good turn out of parents - could do with a few more. All in all a good game

22.10.11 League Cup Match Carterton 0 v Chinnor 4

After a good result in the League away at Chinnor last week, the Carterton girls were hoping for win at home in this League Cup match. Although the teams were evenly matched, Chinnor finished the first half with a 2 – 0 lead. Carterton fought hard in the second half with Emily Doyle and Emily Smith coming close but Chinnor scored twice more taking the final score to Carterton FC 0 Chinnor 4. Scoring for Chinnor were Fiona Wriggley with 2 goals and one a piece for Lucy Daniels and Lauren Swanage.
A big thanks to Micky for opening the tea bar!

01/10/11  Swindon Town  5 v 1 Carterton

A slow start for Carterton, who came back in the second half to score 1 goal. Good overall game for both teams

24.09.11 Carterton FC 2 Bardwell Girls 7
Good game. Bardwell played well. Carterton got 2 back in second half, courtesy of Katline Turner and Molly Greaves.
17 .09.11 Banbury Utd 1 - 2 Carterton FC
Catlin Turner scores twice for Carterton Dragons. Good all round game .
All girls played very well. Looking for win number 2.

18.2.12 U14 County Cup semi final Thame 3 - 1 CFC after extra time (1 - 1 at full time)
U14 Girls really unlucky with two 'flukey' goals going in in the last couple of ,minutes of extra time! That's football for you!
21.01.12 Tower Hill Vixens 0 Carterton FC 2 (County Cup ¼ Final)
The second meeting in 2 weeks and with only 9 players starting the game we were expecting to be on the back foot, this was definitely not the case. We played a compact midfield and lone striker and held our own, probably creating the better of the early chances. Megan, Georgina, Charlotte and Annabel were winning everything at the back, Leah, Natalie and Mollie were closing down and giving Tower Hill no time on the ball and with 2 or 3 players marking Molly it was hard to tell which team had the fewer players, mustn’t forget Nakita who for most of the half was a spectator. After 15 minutes Bronte was brought on, this gave us even more impact in midfield. Mollie was running riot down the left wing and put in 3 great crosses. With the arrival of half time we were more than happy with the way things were going.
It is so nice to not have any negatives in your half time talk, the girls were told to keep playing exactly the same in the second half and that the goals would come.
The game was end to end for the first 10 minutes and on 13 we managed to make the breakthrough. Bronte reacted first to a loose ball in the penalty area and lashed an unstoppable left foot drive into the top left corner to score her first goal for the team, and what a goal it was. The heavy pitch and the effort the girls were having to put in started to show with Tower Hill enjoying more and more possession. On 24 minutes the game was wrapped up when Mollie put Molly through on goal, she battled past the last defenders and squeezed the ball inside the left hand post. Tower Hill kept pushing but we were solid at the back and deservedly gained a 2 – 0 victory.
The whole team’s performance today was awesome; we battled for every ball, were committed in every challenge and took our chances when they came.
Girl of the game was a very hard decision because I watched 10 outstanding performances today. One girl however stood out; her awareness, timing, speed across the ground and strength in the tackle meant that Charlotte just edged it, very well played Charlotte and well played to the rest of the team.
07.01.12 Tower Hill Vixens 0 Carterton FC 2

The first West Oxford derby of the season and our first game for over a month. Tower Hill kicked off and enjoyed the better of the early exchanges. We looked a little rusty and were being penned back. As the game went on we started to enjoy more possession. Just before the break the deadlock was broken. Molly showed great strength and determination to beat the last defender and made no mistake with her finish.
At half time we talked about being more committed and winning the 50/50 balls.
The second half started well and we were enjoying more of the ball whilst being tighter and more organised at the back. With 10 minutes to go Mollie put Molly through to bring up her second. With the midfield pressurising Tower Hill and the defence looking solid we were creating some good chances, Mollie and Rosie both went close.
Girl of the game went to Mollie; she put in some crunching tackles, made some great runs down the wing and supported the attack and assisted the defence, well played Mollie.
26.11.11 Swindon Town 6 Carterton FC 1
This was always going to be an uphill task, playing 10 v 11 (plus 5 subs) against the best team in the league. The first half with the wind against us was spent mostly in our half. Swindon managed to score 4 which all but put the game past us, we weren’t playing badly but things just weren’t going our way. The half time talk was about being positive and taking the game to Swindon. Swindon made regular substitutions and the girls were working hard all over the pitch. We were rewarded with 10 minutes to go when Mollie put Molly through to narrow the deficit. At this point we dreamed of a comeback but Swindon came back straight away with 2 quick goals to give a final score of 6-1.
As I mentioned at the start this was a near impossible task but the girls gave their all and should be proud of their performance.
Girl of the game went to Rosie for a workman like performance and a never give up attitude.
19.11.11 Carterton FC 0 Oxford Bluebirds 8
A game that’s probably best forgotten we just didn’t turn up in the first half. Within 10 minutes we were 4 down and worse was to come; when the half time whistle was blown we were 6 down and looking at the possibility of a double figure thrashing.
A few harsh words were said during the half time ‘talk’. We needed to show more commitment, more desire and stop waiting for the ball or player to come to us and to get stuck in. The girl’s response was brilliant; from the whistle tackles flew in and every ball was contested. Although chances were few and far between 100% effort was given by all. Unfortunately 2 goals were conceded in the final 4 minutes to round off a disappointing morning.
Let’s put this match behind us and look forward to a better display next week against Swindon.
05.11.11 Marston St Angels 0 Carterton FC 4
Although Marston are sitting at the bottom of the league I was not expecting an easy game, we never seem to travel well to Boults Lane. It was a beautiful morning and the girls looked very smart in our new Air Tanker sponsored tops. Marston kicked off and started the better with a couple of attempts on goal, the second being bravely saved by Nakita. As time went on we got into the game more and took the lead on 16 minutes Molly’s shot from the edge of the box beat the Marston keeper. As the half went on we had more possession with Mollie and Georgina having success down the right wing. The lead was doubled on 25 minutes when Natalie took possession on the half way line, rounded the last defender and curled the ball into the bottom left corner.
At half time we talked about closing the game out and trying to get an early goal whilst staying tight at the back. On 38 minutes the goal came and what a great goal it was; Molly showed great determination beating 4 players down the left wing and put in a nice cross, Natalie controlled the ball on the penalty spot and her shot gave the goalie no chance. We took the opportunity to give the newer girls more pitch time than they might normally get. Leah, Nikola and Charlotte P, all did well in central midfield and Bronte made some great runs down the left wing. On 45 minutes Natalie brought up her hat trick with a low shot into the corner. The score could have been greater had the Marston keeper not pulled of several great saves.
This was a good team performance and it’s always nice to keep a clean sheet, well done girls. Girl of the game went to Georgina; she was solid in defence and made some great supporting runs.

15/10/11 OMGFL U14 Carterton FC 1 (goal Natalie Webb) v  Didcot 2 (goals Holly Clack, Holly Bristow)
A disappointing final score was the result of a disappointing performance. Didcot had the better of the early exchanges and were rewarded with a fortuitous first goal; Holly Clacks corner somehow finding its way into the back of the net. Our response was immediate; Mollie Little battled her way through 3 challenges, her pass found Molly Bishop who set free Natalie Webb to take on the last defender and fire home from a tight angle. The remainder of the first half was mainly played in the middle third of the pitch; Holly Clack had a long range effort well saved by Nakita Alder.
Half time score: Carterton FC 1 Didcot 1
The half time talk was about closing players down attacking the ball and being first to 50/50 tackles. The second half was quite a one sided affair with Didcot dominating the midfield, we were unable to get a foot on the ball and take control of the play. Didcot re established their lead when Holly Bristow managed to sneak the ball in at the near post after a great run down the left wing. The second half was played out in much the same fashion; notably Nakita made another great save from another long range Holly Clack effort.
Well played Didcot, what was particularly disappointing today was that we lost 2-1 to one of the best teams in the league without ever getting into second gear. On another day this game could have been there for the taking. Final comment, must do better.
17.09.11 Carterton FC 4 Bloxham 2
First game of the season and once again Bloxham were the first visitors to Monahan Way. Our first 11 a side and after a successful close season hopes were high; As Bloxham only had 10 players, 10 a side it would be.
We kicked off and it was a nervy start from both sides. Bloxham probably had the better of the early exchanges but the first goal went our way on 8 minutes; Annabel flicked the ball on to Natalie and from her lay off Georgina fired the ball through the crowded penalty area into the far corner of the net. We seemed to grow in confidence from this and the second wasn’t long in coming. A great run and shot from Charlotte Grant was followed by a goal mouth scramble and when the ball fell to Natalie 8 meters out made no mistake coolly side footing home. Bloxham continued to press and thought they had pulled one back when Mali Minchin found the net but unfortunately for her she was offside. On 21 minutes we added a third and a first of the season for Mollie; she made a great run down the right wing and from an acute angle managed to curl the ball into the net.
At half time we talked about not giving anything away early and things couldn’t have gone any better when one minute in we got a forth. A great pass from Molly sent Natalie on her way, after a long run the keeper could only parry her shot; Molly gathered the rebound, rounded the keeper and stroked the ball into the empty net.
After this it should have been plain sailing but we spent most of the second half repelling wave after wave of Bloxham attacks. They were soon rewarded when Mali proved too strong for both Charlottes to score a great individual goal. Game on! Bloxham were really going for it and we were struggling to get out of our half. With 5 minutes to go Mali got her second of the game with a shot from the edge of the box.
This was a great game of football and Bloxham probably feel they should have got more out of it; however we defended well and when the chances came our way we took them. Well played Girls, a great result against one of the most difficult teams in the League to beat.
Girl of the match went to Georgina for a great goal which steadied our nerves and for a commanding performance at the back, keep it up.

18.2.12 Carterton 4 v North Leigh 2     A rearranged match due to a frozen pitch 2 weeks ago was spoilt by a strong wind. Carterton took a lead after 12 mins through an unstoppable own goal. Charley Hamilton then riffled one into the top corner from 20 meters. The home side then blasted a penalty against the bar after Charley was brought down in the box. Carterton were deserving of the lead but an opportunist long range shot from Georgia Winstone pulled one back for the visitors.
Most of the second half was played in the visitors half as the wind strengthened. Beth Anderson performed well in their goal as a number of chances went begging . Then Zoe Harrison with a powerful shot hit her first goal for the team to make it 3-1. As the home team pressed forward Northleigh grabbed a well taken breakaway goal from Jade Keenan-Naf, but Carterton responded with a well taken goal by Laura Jones.
Carterton played some excellent football and put together some lovely passing moves particularly in the first half, and Miriam Cattermole made an excellent debut.
3.12.11  Swindon Town 2 v 5 Carterton U 16's

Four goals superbly struck by Charley Hamilton and one from Ella Butler gave the visitors a convincing win over a spirited Swindon team, to maintain their hundred percent league record.
Both sides fielded eleven players for a matched played on an excellent playing surface. The home side kindly wore a changed strip to avoid a colour clash, and almost immediately went ahead with a soft goal, which the visitors soon put behind them. Ten minutes later Carterton equalised with a rasping shot from Charley Hamilton. This was the first of a series of first half shots at the Swindon goal but the others were too tame to really test the home keeper. One all at half time.
The second half saw the visitors up the tempo and they started to create more chances and it wasn’t long before they took the lead as Ella Butler pounced on a rebound as the keeper parried a shot. Charley then struck another great finish to make it 3 -1. A rare defensive mix up saw Town halve the deficit. Charley rapidly hit two more terrific shots from long range, one a perfect free kick, to put the match beyond Swindon. Carterton’s fitness and athleticism saw them finish the match strongly and they created numerous opportunities ending in narrow misses.
Charley will deservedly steal the headlines for her four goals but this was another excellent all-round team performance by Carterton as this newly assembled team continues to develop well.

This result means that at the half way point of the season we have beaten all our league opponents, and remain in both cup competitions

19.11.11 Carterton 2 v Swindon Spitfires 0

An outstanding goalkeeping performance by Robyn Hill kept Spitfires in the game right to the end of an entertaining match. A long range opportunist effort by Steph Bent gave the home side deserved lead after 15 minutes then Charley Hamilton's persistence paid off to pinch a second giving them a comfortable half time lead. Ella Butler had a storming first half on the right flank and Fran Hook at left back dealt very well with a tricky opponent and distributed the ball well. Zoe Harrison continues to improve and impress at right back.
Spitfires came out more strongly in the second half and both sides created plenty of chances and one full length save by Robyn had every one at Kilkenny Lane applauding, while Lydia Miles in the home goal gave a very assured performance. Laura Jones was brought down in the area after a super Carterton move but the resulting penalty was blasted onto the cross bar. Charley was holding the ball up increasingly well and bringing her team mates into play, which was the source of many of the home attacks.
With eleven players (plus two subs) available for only the second time this season, Carterton welcomed back Sophie Pym from injury and gave Katy Hoare a long awaited debut, with both acquitting themselves well after their long lay offs.

05.11.11 Summertown Stars 0 - Carterton FC 12
Some great finishing by Chloe Billins and Steph Bent saw them grab eight between them. Other notable goals were a superb header by Charley from a Chloe cross, and a stunning free kick from the edge of the area into the top corner by Lydia.
Summertown kept their spirits up right till the end with their keeper making a string of excellent saves.
Scorers: Chloe Billins 5; Steph Bent 3, Charley Hamilton 2; Lydia Miles and an unfortunate OG.
8.10.11 Carterton 3 v 2 Oxford City

Carterton had gained a comfortable 2 nil lead by mid-way through the first half when there was a delay in play for an unfortunate ankle injury to their full back Sophie Pym. Two of several lovely sweeping plays had resulted in goals for Ella Butler and Charley Hamilton. Oxford pulled one back through to a splendid long shot from Sammy Davenport as they increased the pressure on the home side after the stoppage.
 HT  2 - 1
Oxford continued to play well at the start of the second half and Molly Avery grabbed a well taken
equaliser. Carterton gradually got back in the game again producing some sweet passing movement, and eventually Chloe Billins found the back of the net with a fine shot. City's Keeper had to make more saves than Lydia in the home goal, an indication that Carterton were just about deserved winners in this gripping encounter.
Special thanks to Carterton Coach Steve Norton, who stepped in to referee at the last minute, otherwise the match could not have been played.

01/10/11  North Leigh  1 v 4 Carterton
Carterton’s 9 players proved too strong for Northleigh's 10. A first half penalty by Carterton captain Chloe Billins gave the visitors a deserved 1 - 0 half time lead.
Ella Butler used her blistering pace to add her name to the score sheet before Chloe completed her hat trick with some fine strikes. Both sides had their work cut out on a big pitch (with a nice playing surface) in increasingly hot conditions, of possible record October temperatures. Carterton's work rate throughout was most impressive and they defended well using the 'Heath Robinson' system evolved on the day.
Zoe Harrison made an impressive debut for Carterton showing great energy and tenacity in midfield.  This is a talented new Carterton team with a terrific work and team ethic, which is starting to gel nicely.
17.9.11 Carterton 4 - 3 Marston Saints Angels
Goalscorers Carterton: Ella Butler, Chloe Billins, Steph Bent (2)     Marston Saints Angels: Georgia Goff, Rebecca Ritchie (2)
Ten girl Carterton used their great energy, enthusiasm and experience to complete a 4 -3 win at home to good Marston Saints Angels. They converted a 2- 1 half time lead into a win in a match which saw both keepers having a lot of action. Both teams displayed admirable skills on a hard bobbley pitch but Carterton just about deserved the 3 points with some excellent link up play.
