27.12.11 match report:-

Chairman's Select XI v Town Old Boys 3 - 3      A terrific turn out to watch a festive and friendly, well, mostly friendly game contested between a Chairman's Select XI and a Town Old Boys team.  Both teams had players of very differing ages and abilities and proved to be a very well contested game, the Select XI took the lead through Jonny Goodman, when his grass cutter from the edge of the box, somehow beat the ever youthful Martin Bonner, Town drew level through Bradley Bryant and as the first half drew to a close Dan Warner managed to put through his own net to give the Select XI a slender lead.  With energy sapping, the game ebbed and flowed, a lot faster than the players, the Select XI extended their lead through Quif, with an unstoppable shot, that flew into the top corner.  The Old Boys then turned on the magic and after several very poor penalty appeals, a goal line clearance and a shot off the bar, they finally scored, when Mike Duerden volleyed home a Scott Walters cross, with less than 5 minutes left, Dan Warner made amends for his earlier own goal to bring the scores level.

Thanks go to Kev Rose and Steve Felstead for organising the teams for the day and to everyone who turned up and supported.

Bag packing today raised £808.66 thank you to all

At the annual Oxfordshire FA Awards Evening Rob King, Chairman of Carterton FC was a deserving winner collecting the 'Volunteer of the Year' award. Rob is the mainstay of football in Carterton and is able to turn his hand to any aspect of involvement within football. As well as being Chairman he is also Football Secretary of the Hellenic teams, is a qualified therapist, barman and can even turn his hand to tea making. Rob spends about 30 hours working on behalf of the club and holds down a full time job as well.

1.8.11 News:- With pre-season almost complete, Carterton's new management team are now looking for local players interested in playing at Hellenic Div ONE standard. Ideally, committed and talented players who are able to train on Wed evenings and play on Saturdays are required. Players should be aware that one of the aims of the club for this forthcoming season is to rebuild a team that is capable of gaining promotion to the Hellenic Premier Division. Accordingly any players that are interested should contact Carterton FC manager Mark Jacobsen (07881 481121) or assistant manager Martin Wilkinson (07803 677353) without delay
