30.01.11 Carterton FC 0 v Marlow Ladies 7.
We were dealt a tough draw against First
Division side Marlow in this round and with our Captain Tracy out for
the rest of the season and Lucy unable to get away from work for the
match, we new it was going to be a long afternoon. V in goal, a back
four of Woody, Jodi, Gemma and Rebecca with a midfield four of Bryony,
Kayleigh, Geo and Charlotte. Stacey was up front with Sophie, Bernice
and Katie were on the bench.
Inside 11 minutes and the home side found
themselves 3-0 down, giving the away side too much time on the ball
and not marking your player were the main problems. Carterton seemed
to steady their nerves after the third goal had gone in and started to
move the ball well, Woody again playing well in defence. A sloppy
spell just before half time let two easy goals in and left the home
side with an uphill climb in the second half. Katie came on for Stacey
and Bernice replaced Jodi.
Half Time: - Carterton FC 0 v Marlow
Ladies 5.
The second half was a different game,
Carterton challenged for the ball, passed well and had the opportunity
to pull a goal back but the shot was blocked. Marlow only managed to
score twice in the second half and as the match progressed it was
Carterton that looked the stronger side but unfortunately the shooting
boots were left at home !! If only the home side had started the game
with the belief they could get something out of the game then the
score line might of been different.

Player of the Match was awarded to Geo,
who when asked to step into the defence when Jodi got a knock, played
her best game of the season so far !!, Well Done.
16.01.11 Chinnor Ladies 7 v Carterton FC 0.
On paper today we looked in a better shape than last week, with 14
players available. Only trouble was Charlotte had to leave at half time
for her annual Panto visit and Jodi was going into London to see JLS so
left half way through the second half. Also Tracy had still not fully
recovered from her knock from last week. The line up today was V. in
goal Becca Jodi and Woody at the back, Kayleigh, Tracy, Geo and Kayleigh
across the midfield. Stacey, Sophie and Bryony up front with Bernice,
Katie and Lucy on the bench.
Carterton took centre and played against the slope and the strong wind,
and were immediately put under pressure which resulted in a goal on 4
minutes. Just after the goal Tracy came off, her ankle still not feeling
right and Lucy went on. The home side continued to dominate the game and
Carterton stood firm in defense with some fine work from Kayleigh and
Woody trying to keep the Chinnor winger Charlotte Cairns at bay. Stacey
made way half way through the half and Katie went up front to replace
her. With 5 minutes to go to half time Chinnor got two quick goals to go
in at the break three to the good.
H.T. Chinnor Ladies 3 v Carterton FC 0
With Charlotte off to Panto Land !!, Bryony dropped into right midfield
and Tracy went back on to form a back four along side Jodi and the two
Rebecca's. Chinnor got a couple of early goals in the second half to
pile more misery on the away side and also got a penalty when Tracy
miss-timed her challenge, which they scored from to make it 6-0. Jodi
then came off to head off to London and Stacey came back on up front.
Bernice came on for Sophie with 25 minutes left to play and the away
side started to enjoy some possession of the ball. Bryony and Stacey
both had chances to get on the score sheet but good defending thwarted
their shots. Bryony came off with only ten minutes left, replaced by
Sophie, who almost immediately had a chance but her shot hit the side
netting. With time running out Chinnor got their 7th goal to seal an
emphatic victory over a tired, dejected Carterton side.
Another great game for Woody who is maturing game by game, especially as
she is only 16 and Kayleigh who backed Woody up all afternoon.
Chinnor goal scorers were, Natalie Eustace (2), Charlotte Cairns, Hayley
Gardner (3) and Harriot Davis.
League Cup Round 1
09.01.11 Stony Stratford Town Reserves 3 v
Carterton FC 5.
This was our first game of 2011, 2010 seemed
to fizzle out with Cartertons last match on the 14th November. Eight
weeks off and only 2 training sessions in this time we knew we were
going to be a little bit rusty. To add to the pressure we only had 11
players available for this away Cup game. Katie took the goalies shirt
in the absence of V, Jodi and the two Rebecca's played at the back. The
midfield four from the left was Kayleigh, Tracy, Geo and Charlotte with
three up front of Bryony, Sophie and Stacey.
The game started with Carterton dominating
possession and early pressure on the home side paid off with Stacey
scoring on 8 minutes with a shot the keeper couldn't hold onto, it fell
over the top of her head and over the goal line. Two minutes later
Stacey got her second, again the keeper couldn't hold onto the shot and
it dribbled over the line. Stony came back into the game but the three
at the back and stand in keeper for Carterton stifled out any threat.
Carterton got their third on 30 minutes when Sophie's shot went through
the keepers hands. Stony got a goal back when Courtney Frankish hit the
ball from outside the box and it went over Katie's hands into the top
corner of the goal. With 10 minutes of the first half to play Charlotte
picked up a small injury just below her knee and took no further part of
the half. No substitutes meant the team had to battle through to the
break with only 10 players, which they did well, not conceding a goal.
Half Time: - 1-3
Second half underway and Charlotte was back
on the pitch, not 100 per cent but able to play on. Ten minutes played
and Carterton got their three goal cushion back when a cross from Stacey
was inadvertently knocked into their own goal, wrong footing the keeper.
As Carterton's legs tired Stony seemed to be getting more of the ball,
Tracy got a knock to the ankle and again while she was being treated,
Carterton were down to 10 players. The pressure on Carterton's defense
was strong and Stony got their second goal from a good build up of play
through the middle of the park resulting in a powerful strike by Brooke
Fry that Katie had no chance of saving. Tracy was back on the pitch and
she dropped into the back, so we changed to a 4-4-2 with Kayleigh
joining Geo in the centre, Charlotte moving to left mid and Bryony
dropping into the right side of midfield. Geo was the next player to
pick up an injury on her ankle, so again down to 10 players for a couple
of minutes while she was treated. Carterton's three goal cushion was
restored once again and similar to the last goal. Stacey beat the
defender and crossed the ball in to the box, where again a Stony
defender scored in her own goal. Stony were awarded a penalty with only
10 minutes left of the game. The referee judged that Bex Wood had
handled the ball inside the box and showed a yellow card, when everyone
around thought the ball had hit her hand as she was falling over,
outside the box !! Stony converted the spot kick with
Brooke getting her second but Carterton held on to a deserved win and
through to the next round of the Cup to meet Division 1 side Marlow.

A great team performance with two special
mentions to Katie, who did a terrific job between the posts at short
notice and Bex Wood who picked herself up after a small mistake to put
in an overall great performance.
14.11.10 Carterton FC 3 v Stanford Ladies 0.
H/T 1-0
Scorers : - Sophie Thomas (2), Stacey Oakey (Pen)
At long last a victory for Carterton. It had been coming with some strong
performances recently but very sweet when it arrived. A great team
performance which started well with Sophie Thomas scoring inside 2
minutes. Carterton pressured the opponents goal but couldn’t capitalise on
the possession they had.
The second half started with Stanford pushing three up front which gave
Carterton the space in midfield for Georgina Hewson to break through and
was brought down in the box, Penalty. Stacey Oakey converted the spot kick
and Sophie got her second with a strong run down the left and a shot past
the out coming keeper on 70 minutes.

After last weeks game against the same opposition it was a game of damage

determined team performance.

A tough game against an Academy side that shouldn't really be in this
league. The home side battled hard in the first half but still managed to
conceed 4 goals. The second half they wore the home side down and netted
another 7, one from the penalty spot in the dying seconds.
24.10.10 Marlborough Town Ladies 2 v Carterton FC 0
H/T 1-0
a poorly defended corner was all to show for the first half with
Marlboroughs Vicki Pope running onto a well taken corner in the 40th
minute. Carterton had dominated the play but couldn't find the back of the
net.
Sophie Thomas came very close in the second half when her shot hit the
upright for the visitors. Unfortunately Kayleigh Murphy hit the ball into
her own goal to give the home side their second goal. The last 20 minutes
were camped in Marlboroughs half but no goals came of it.
10.10.10 Carterton FC 0 v Chinnor Ladies 6.
Today we were hoping to carry on from last week with another good team
performance. After 4 months serving her country (food), Vanessa Spice was
back from her stint with the RAF in The Falklands, this was to Stacey's
delight as V took over in goal. The back four was Katie, Jodi, Gemma and
Woody, the midfield four of Geo, Kayleigh, Tracy and Charlotte with Sophie
and Bryony up front. On the bench was Dawn, Bernice and Stacey.
We won the toss and chose to play against the wind in the first half and
seemed to absorb a lot of early pressure. A small mistake presented
Chinnor an early shot at goal which they didn't miss with putting them 0-1
ahead through Nicola Hunt. On 32 minutes they doubled their lead when
according to the linesman the ball crossed over the goal line, a close
call but Chinnor were happy and Hayley Gardner got herself on the score
sheet. Bryony was substituted as she picked up a slight knock and Stacey
replaced her before the game restarted. Charlotte had a couple of good
strong runs down the right but nothing came from them. The home side
battled well to the half time whistle with Kayleigh putting in a strong
performance in her unfavoured role at centre midfield and Woody having a
storming game at right back meeting the ball early at every opportunity.
Half Time: - Carterton FC 0 v Chinnor Ladies 2.
The second half begun with the home side dominating play keeping the ball
in Chinnors half. Stacey had a glorious chance to pull one goal back and
possibly change the dynamics of the game but her shot from just outside
the box smashed against the crossbar and away to safety. Dawn came on to
replace Katie at left back on 60 minutes. Midway through the half there
seemed to be a lull for about 5 minutes where neither team kept
possession, Carterton eventually picked their game up again and went on
the attack but no real killer pass or shot developed. A couple of
substitutions were made with Geo and Sophie coming off and Bernice and
Bryony taking their places. On 80 minutes a Carterton attack was broken
down and Chinnors Becky Hill ran from deep inside her own half with the
ball and near our box she passed to Nicola who beat V and scored. It
wasn't long before Nicola got her hat trick when she shrugged off Jodi
before rounding the keeper and scoring into an empty goal. Chinnor grew in
confidence and in the last two minutes hit us hard by scoring two goals
well worked down the Chinnor right by Charlotte Cairns. She ran at our
midfield and defence with no tackle being put in and was allowed to get
into the box and cross with ease. The first fell to Hayley for her second
goal and the second spilled through V's legs and Ella Rackstraw was on
hand for a simple tap in.
Full Time: - Carterton FC 0 v Chinnor Ladies 6.
Some costly mistakes today conceeding in the dying minutes flattered the
score-line for Chinnor. Some good performances today with Player of the
Match being awarded to Rebecca Wood for a strong performance at right
back.
03.10.10 Carterton FC 0 v Swindon Spitfires 1.
With a couple of players missing today due to other commitments or injured
we still had a strong squad. The starting line up was Stacey in goal, back
four from left of Katie, Jodi, Gemma and Georgina. Across the middle was
Kayleigh, Lucy, Tracy and Charlotte with Bryony and Sophie up front. On
the bench and eager to get on were Rebecca Wood, Chrisanne and Bernice.
After last weeks thumping by Brize we were looking at getting back on
track and playing some good football, knowing this would be difficult
against a very strong Swindon team. The players started the game superbly,
passing the ball well and keeping the ball in the opponents half.
Charlotte working well down the right with Geo backing her up. Lucy and
Tracy winning most 50/50 balls in the centre of the pitch and Bryony
working so hard up front for her first start of the season. Midway through
the half Katie was replaced by Woody, this was just to see how Woody would
get on after injuring her ankle pre-season. Kayleigh was having a good
game on the left wing and was substituted with 10 minutes of the first
half left as she was looking tired, Chrisanne took her place. Carterton
were lucky not to be down to 10 players when Stacey came off her line very
quickly to shut the Spitfires forward down and outside the area she
collided with the forward. The referee blew the whistle for a free kick
but didn't caution her. The resulting free kick was blocked well by the
wall and Carterton broke out of defence but didn't make a clear chance of
the attack.
H/T 0-0
The second half started and Spitfires had the wind at their backs, which
had picked up during the break. On 60 minutes Spitfires got the break when
Zofia Stepien fired back from a Carterton goal kick over the keeper and
into the back of the net. A couple of substitutions were made with
Chrisanne and Woody coming off for Kayleigh and Katie and not long after
Gemma had to come off as she got a knock in the back, Tracy dropped back
into the centre of defence, Charlotte tucked into the centre of midfield
and Bernice went onto the right wing. Carterton put everything into
getting the equaliser, with 5 minutes to go Bryony, who was suffering with
a cold, came off and Woody went back on to left back and Katie went up
front.
The final whistle blew on a great game of football, unlucky for the home
side, they just couldn't find a goal. A lot of positives came from the
game, Bryony played well up front, Charlotte and Tracy in midfield played
well, Stacey had a good game in goal and the back four, even though
changed a few times they all did well. Player of the Match went to Lucy
Moore for another great solid performance. Well done to all the team on a
far better display, keep it up for next week !
26.09.10 Brize Norton Ladies 10 v Carterton FC 0
The team for today was Stacey in goal, back four of Dawn, Jodi, Gemma and
Rebecca John. The midfield four of Kayleigh, Lucy, Tracy and Geo with
Sophie and Charlotte up front. Chrisanne and Bryony on the side lines to
start with.
The home side got off to a flyer with three goals in the first 10 minutes,
two from Katie Round and one from Amanda Townsend. With Brize attacking
down the slope, Carterton struggled to get the ball out of their half with
attack after attack from the rampant home side. Midway through the half
Jessica Day hit a powerfull free kick which Stacey in goal couldn't keep
out. Another free kick on 35 minutes saw their 5th goal when Amanda rose
above the defence and headed the ball into the back of the net. We made a
substitution with Sophie coming off and Bryony coming on. Two minutes
later another free kick and Jess's cross went through a melee of players
and straight into the net 6-0. With aminute to go before half time Katie
got her hat trick with a well taken strike from out side the box.
H/T 7-0
It wasn't long before Amanda got her third goal (in fact 6 minutes) when
she twisted and turned the defence before hitting the back of the net.
Just after the restart Charlotte picked up a knock just above the shin pad
which meant she couldn't take any further part in the game. Sophie went
back on and another change saw Kayleigh come off and Chrisanne go on. On
60 minutes Brize got their 9th when a strong run down the right wing by
Khloe Bennett resulted in her scoring. Tracy pulled up with a pain in her
foot so Kayleigh went back on and we seemed to stem the flow of attacks.
With 10 minutes left to play Lucy picked up a knock so Tracy had to go
back on with no spare subs available to choose from. This rest bite for
Lucy was short lived as Chrisanne was struggling on the pitch and a change
was made. It looked like we had limited the game to single figures but
deep into added time Talane Smith latched onto a free kick for her first
goal and Brize's 10th.
Full Time: - Brize Norton Ladies 10 v Carterton FC 0.
With no real outstanding players this game, the award went to a player who
worked tirelessly to the final whistle and never gave up, this was Rebecca
John.
19.09.10 Carterton FC 2 v Ascot United 2.
A different story to last week with a team of 15 players available for
this home fixture. Stacey Oakey in goal, a back four from left to right of
Dawn Slatford, Jodi Bradley, Gemma Gordon-Smith and Rebecca John. Across
the midfield were Kayleigh Murphy, Tracy McCue, Lucy Moore and Georgina
Hewson with Sophie Thomas and Charlotte McClarron up front. On the side
lines were Chrisanne Massetti, Katie Patchett, Bernice Whitmore and Bryony
Vaughan.
After last weeks game, where we were holding possession but not really
capitalising on it, we were looking at putting in a stronger performance.
From the start we got at the opposition and an early strike from Tracy
just went wide of the upright. Most of the play was in Ascots half and a
determined run from Charlotte resulted in our first goal on 17 minutes
when she went past two players and from the goal line she passed the ball
into the 6 yard box where Lucy managed to get her knee to the ball and
into the net the ball went 1-0. On 24 minutes we made a change as Sophie
had got a slight knock to her jaw so she was replaced by Katie. Ascot were
resorting to kicking the ball long for their number 10 to run onto but a
strong defence and an alert keeper who was off her line very quickly
thwarted any real chances. Rebecca was the next player to take a break as
Chrisanne came on to play right midfield and Geo dropped back to right
back. Chances went begging as Carterton pressured the Ascot goal with some
slick passing and unfortunately not many good shots followed the good
movement on and off the ball.
Half Time: - Carterton FC 1 v Ascot United 0.
The second half started with two changes, Sophie and Bryony on for Katie
and Charlotte. Playing against the wind helped with controlling the speed
of the ball and we carried on as the first half finished with a lot of
possession. We were awarded a free kick some 25 yards from goal as a
player handled the ball. Gemma stepped up and hit a screamer of a shot
which hit the inside of the upright and nestled in the back of the net
2-0. Chrisanne was the next player to be substituted as she had run
herself into the ground; she was replaced by Bernice on the wing. Another
hand ball and the home side were awarded a free kick inside the ‘D’, Tracy
took the shot and it went high over the crossbar !! With 80 minutes
played, Cartertons best piece of football was played when a dazzling run
through the centre by Tracy, going past three players passed the ball to
Bryony in the centre of the box, she took a touch and laid the ball off to
Sophie who hit the ball first time, which was heading into the bottom
corner of the goal but an outstretched defenders leg put it out for a
corner. A minute later Ascot were on the break and were awarded a penalty
when Gemma made a clumsy challenge. Claire Roddy stepped up and hit the
ball straight and high into the roof of the net 2-1. This seemed to pick
Ascot up and the home side started to become nervous, a couple of changes
were made to get Rebecca back on at the back, moving Geo back up to
midfield and Bernice making way, also Charlotte came back on to replace
Sophie for the last 5 minutes. Carterton seemed to drop deeper and deeper
and gave away a silly corner when two players went for the same ball. The
corner was swung in and well cleared to the edge of the box as we had
thought, unfortunately for Carterton, Ascot’s Amy Martin lobbed the ball
back into the area and with the aid of the wind it sailed into the top
corner of the goal, a fluky goal but they all count 2-2. A minute later it
looked like the away side had stolen all three points when they had a
golden opportunity to score into an open goal but the forwards shot went
wide. With only two minutes to go Carterton battled to get a winner but it
wasn’t to be.
Full Time: - Carterton FC 2 v Ascot United 2.
A much improved game this week with a lot of positives to come from the
game. We need to convert a few more of the chances we get to put us in a
good position to see the end of the game out. Player of the Match was
again a tough decision with 3 or 4 very good performances, Tracy and Lucy
in midfield were outstanding, the back four as a unit were great but the
decision was made to give it to Dawn Slatford. She always beats herself up
about the negative things in her game, but today she worked very hard and
produced some strong defending and good passes.
12.09.10 Stanford Ladies 3 v Carterton FC 0.
First game of the season and a short drive to Stanford in the Vale,
unfortunately only 11 could make the start of the game. Stacey Oakey in
goal, Dawn Slatford at left back, Jodi Bradley and Georgina Hewson
partnered as centre backs with one of the new signings Rebecca John at
right back. Kayleigh Murphy played left wing with Tracy McCue and our
second new signing Bryony Vaughan patrolled the centre of the pitch and
Charlotte McClarron played wide right. Katie Patchett and Sophie Thomas
were our two centre forwards and Gemma Gordon-Smith was arriving straight
from work at about 2.30pm.
The game kicked off with a lot of ball in the centre of the pitch neither
team settling down to play. Carterton seemed to take control of the game
after the first 5 minutes and play the ball around with no real clear
chances. On 12 minutes the ball was knocked forward for the home side and
Jodi was pushed off the ball, the bouncing ball then caught Geo out and
Stanfords loan striker Tanya Adams muscled her way into a scoring
opportunity which she took well to go one ahead. Within 5 minutes they had
doubled their lead from a corner which wasn’t cleared at the near post and
Adams got her head on it to score her second. A minute later we had a good
chance to get a goal back when Tracy was fouled just outside the box;
unfortunately her free kick was just wide of the keepers left post. Again
Carterton had lots of the ball but not in the danger area. With 8 minutes
left of the first half Gemma came on at centre back, Geo moved out to
right midfield, Charlotte went up front and Katie came off. Geo had done
well but Gemma is taller and could deal with the aerial threat better. A
change on the pitch took place with Kayleigh moving into centre mid and
Bryony moving out on the left wing.
Half Time:- 2-0
The second half got under way and a determined Carterton team were keen to
get themselves back into the game. The back four were working well
together playing the ball into the midfield but the killer pass or a
player chancing a run never materialised. On 65 minutes Bryony made way
for Katie to go back on up front and Charlotte to drop back to right
midfield, Geo to move into centre midfield and Kayleigh to pull back out
onto the left wing. Charlotte got a lot of the ball on the wing and every
time she had a chance she took the defence on and ran round them with ease
only to find no one in the box to pass too! On 80 minutes Sophie came off
as her knee was hurting and Bryony went back on the right wing pushing
Charlotte back up front again. With Carterton pushing for a goal the
inevitable happened, on 83 minutes a long ball was sent down field and
Adams claimed her hat trick when she beat the out running Stacey in goal
and scored.
Final score 3-0.
If the game was scored on possession we would have come away victorious,
but sadly goals are the things that count, chins up for next week at home
to Ascot. Player of the Match was a tough choice from 3 players, Tracy,
Geo and Charlotte, eventually the decision was in favour of Charlotte for
her never give up attitude. |
