report from Hellenic Web site- Purton 4 Carterton 1
Despite once again missing a load of chances and being denied by some Good
goalkeeping by the Carterton keeper, Purton got their shooting boots
On in the second half to run out 4-1 winners thus avenging their 2-1 league
Defeat at Carterton and also their 1-0 defeat in the Bluefin Cup suffered at
The Red House. A brace by Scott Campbell and further goals by Tom Cadden and
Marcus Hall gave the club the points and edged them back into second place
behind High flyers Tytherington Rocks |

07.01.12 Carterton 1 v 3 Brimscombe & Thrupp
report from Hellenic Web site-Carterton Town 1 Brimscombe
& Thrupp 2
Brimscombe have moved up the table after this latest victory and it was
heartening to see Phil Baker's boys receive the success for which their
football deserves. Oxfordshire side Carterton struggling at the wrong end of
the table put on a good showing and were difficult to break down and they
took the lead in the 44th minute with a great solo goal from a from Kris
Redford.
Half Time Carterton Town 1 Brimscombe & Thrupp 0
Fortune changed in the second half for the Lilywhites when a spell of
trickery from Ben Jones in the penalty area led to a foul and Mike
Beckingham made it 1-1 from the spot. This led to more threats on the home
goal with efforts from Jon Peacock and Chris Underwood hitting the woodwork.
In the 80th minute there was more excitement as last season's goal hero
Beckingham added a second goal with a lovely defence splitting pass from
McDermott allowing him to evade the Carterton keeper with the skill he used
last season and put his team in control. In the dying seconds a great move
initiated by David Woodfield put pressure on the home defence and John
Dalton showed he was back to his best with a nice finish for the third. |

20.12.11 Carterton 2 (goals

v 2 Cricklade Town
reoport from Hellenic Web site:- Carterton 2 - 2 Cricklade
Town
A game that will be remembered for all the wrong reasons with numerous
bookings and 3 players sent off on a cold wet night in Carterton.
The game started with a couple of late tackles on Amjad Sultan and Ben
Mitchell, with Ben Mitchell later being diagnosed with a fractured leg, both
incidents given no punishment, this resulted in Amjad getting booked as he
went into a late and reckless tackle, and all this within the first 4
minutes of the fixture. As the game settled down, Webb and Carter started to
find holes in the Carterton back line, as Carter broke through the middle on
14 minutes and found his partner, in space on the edge of the box, with an
unselfish act he squared the ball back to Carter to finish into the empty
net. Cricklade extended their lead on 19 minutes as Arron Sanghera took the
ball off the Carterton left back and charged down the line to cross into box
to find Carter who turned a shot low into the right hand corner for his
second of the night. With Cricklade now looking in control of the game but
not creating lots of chances, Webb went close when through on goal,
Carterton were reduced to set piece plays, going close from a corner where
Sunblad was not picked up and headed over. On 44 minutes the game changed,
as Davies played the ball across the back on the wet surface, with Moulden
unable to collect the ball Fleming got to the bye-line and pulled the ball
back, and it looked odds on for Carterton to pull one back but Davies
committed a foul and was subsequently shown a red card. From the spot kick
MacDonagh pulled one back for the home team.
Half Time: 1 - 2
The second half looked like a rear guard action as Cricklade set up two
banks of 4 and hope on the counter attacking skills, with Cricklade
defending well breaking up attacks with last ditch tackles and blocks. With
both sides now picking up bookings it only looked a matter of time before
the numbers would be reduced from the 21 to less, but it was the touchline
numbers that were reduced as Cricklade Manager Graham Jackson was sent to
the stand, this was followed by Cox for a second yellow card after a foul on
Webb, with the sides now at 10 a piece, Cricklade again took control until
the 80th minute when Rob Walker was given his second yellow, an infringement
that still is a mystery. In the 84th minute the Cricklade resolve was broken
as a high ball into the box looked to be comfortable for Mitchell to claim,
but after heavy pressure from the Carterton attack the ball ran lose for
Mills to put the ball into the empty net. With both sides now chasing the
game, Carterton looked more likely to score until the 2nd minute of added
time Price found time and space on the edge of the box to cross for Carter
to head just over with the last kick of the game. Cricklade thoughts one
point gained or two lost! |

Old Woodstock Town 3 v 0 Carterton report from Hellenic Web
site:- Old Woodstock Town 3 – 0 Carterton
Two Goal Green Leads from the Front
With a late withdrawal of Keeper Jeff Simmonds manager John & Eddie had to
change the team with left back Dan Monk taking over in goal.
When the game started it looked like only one outcome with Old Woodstock
Town all over Carterton, It was not until the 15th min Dan Green scored his
first goal, with Old Woodstock still taking the game to Carterton. Dan Green
hit the second goal from a very acute angle. Old Woodstock Town then decided
to take their foot of the pedal and just did not look in control of the
game.
Half Time: 2 - 0
With a good talking to by the managers at half time, Old Woodstock Town
started the 2nd Half just like the first half taking the game to Carterton,
but could not make the game safe until the 75th minute when Liam Godin put
the game beyond Carterton. Old Woodstock were just to good for Carterton.
Managers and Players are now looking forward to taking on Premier Division
Abingdon Town in the FA Vase next Saturday @ North Leigh. |

4.10.11 - The AM Print & Copy Hellenic League
Floodlit Cup Round 2 - Carterton 0 v 5 Shortwood United
report from Hellenic Web Site:- Carterton 0 - 5 Shortwood
United
A comfortable win against hard working enthusiastic opponents, who failed to
cope with Shortwood’s constant movement of the ball out to the flanks, and a
midfield that totally dominated proceedings. Joe Tustain scored a hat trick
and was involved in many of Shortwood’s attacking moves although mention
should also be made of James Baldwin who acted both as ball winner and play
maker throughout the game.
New signing John Finnegan settled in well, but precautionary substitutions
of Slack after 14 minutes and Singh at half time gave some cause for concern
for Saturday’s Hellenic Premier Division match.
Shortwood started confidently, moving the ball well and with Carterton
playing three up front and pouring forward at every opportunity they were
constantly overrun in midfield and struggled for numbers at the back and
several times they found themselves vulnerable on the break. After only
seven minutes a defensive miss-control enable Singh to steal the ball and as
he advanced on the keeper slid the ball sideways to Slack for the easiest of
open goals. Shortwood continued to control the game for the rest of the half
with only the occasional worry at the back as Carterton’s enthusiastic
runners harried for every ball. With Coates, Bennett and Tustain getting
plenty of supply down the flanks from Baldwin and Finnegan Carterton’s
penalty area was regularly peppered with crosses although these were rarely
taken advantage of; the best of which fell to Mortlock whose bullet header
was fired straight at the keeper. On 42 minutes Carterton had their first
shot on target resulting in a fine save from King as he pushed it over the
bar. From the resulting corner play was quickly switched to the other end
where Mortlock chased down the Shortwood clearance and was denied by the
keeper’s handball save outside the area. The free kick on the corner of the
penalty area led to a spectacular strike from Tustain as the Carterton
defence and Shortwood attack lined up for the cross and the ball entered the
net with hardly a movement from either side.
Half Time: 0 - 2
Shortwood were quickly out the blocks and within the first few minutes had
two chances as Bennett combined well with his teammates to send in dangerous
crosses. Shortwood’s dominance now led to over confidence as players began
to push too far forward and at times Carterton had possession and numbers on
the break although they failed to make it count. On 65 minutes a quick throw
in from Bennett to Baldwin who volleyed his cross into the path of Tustain
who then also volleyed home first time from 6 yards. The game effectively
over, Shortwood’s play became sloppy as they sought to increase their lead
without the patience shown earlier and many speculative passes became the
norm. Finally, on 82 minutes one such pass from Sheppard found Tustain free
on the wing and his cross was miss-headed by Mortlock but just crept over
the line. In the 90th minute Baldwin put Bennett free and his unselfish
cross was met by Tustain for a well deserved hat trick and Man of the Match
performance.
Acting manager Mark Sumpter was pleased with the performance but expressed
concerns over the injuries suffered by two of his strikers. |

1.10.11Blue Fin Cup - Rd 1 - Purton 0 v 1 Carterton ( goal
G.Seacole) extracts from Purton news:-
After being eliminated from the Bluefin Cup last Saturday by Carterton FC
Purton manager Chris Pethick will be looking for a big improvement on the
lack-lustre performance his players showed in that 1-0 defeat.
taken from Hellenic Web site:- PURTON 0 – 1 CARTERTON
Purton’s hopes of progressing to round 2 of the Bluefin Cup were
extinguished by visitors Carterton FC when a single goal knocked them out.
In what was their worst performance of the season it was a disappointing
result for the club. Apart from a couple of blocked shots by Gooch and two
by Piotrowski receiving the same fate and Piotrowski guilty of missing with
a close range effort the team performed well below their best and in the end
were not worthy of progressing in the competition.
To many times in the game the players were guilty of lacking any cohesion
with their passing poor and their ability to create chances almost
non-existent they could have no complaints on losing this one. The only goal
of the game came after 65 minutes when a high dropping ball over the Purton
defence allowed George Seacole to lob keeper Cowley and although Purton
defender Barrett chasing back was just a fraction to late in clearing the
ball as it trickled into the net. Late on Purton had claims for a penalty
turned down that might have sent the game into extra time, but after
witnessing the first 90 minutes poor showing not many supporters present
would have wished for that I'm sure.
A big improvement will be needed this coming Saturday when the team travel
to Warminster Town for their Wiltshire Senior Cup 1st Round match. |

v 2 Headington Amats
After Saturday’s first win of the season, Carterton entertained last
seasons Div 1 champions Headington in their first home game of the season.
Carterton had to make 3 enforced changes from their winning team due to
injuries and unavailability, out went Ali Cox, Tim Croft and Stu Murdoch and
in came Ben Fitzmartin, Dave Craig and Chris Ambo, all for their first
starts of the season. Headington started much the stronger of the two teams
and should’ve gone in front in the first few minutes, but fortunately Aftaz
Hazim shot wide, when it seemed easier to score. Carterton gradually got a
foothold in the game and found themselves in front, when from a Warren
Austin free kick, Carl Austin headed the ball back across goal for James
Fleming to knock in. Chances came and went at both ends, but it was
Carterton who doubled their lead, when from some good work down the left,
Benji Sundblad was on the end of the pull back to fire home. Headington got
themselves back in the game on the stroke of half time, when Carl Austin was
to have adjudged to have brought down Hazim and from the resulting penalty,
Shaun Jacobs made no mistake.
Within a minute of the restart, Headington were level, Hazim was put through
and majestically chipped the keeper form the edge of the box. As with the
first half Carterton were slow starting and were up against it for the
opening 15 minutes, but once again they grew in confidence and started to
have some possession and push Headington back, though both teams looked
dangerous on the break, neither could muster any real clear cut chances to
grab a winner and the game finished 2 a piece, a fair result for both teams.
Chairman’s Chatter
I would like to welcome Clanfield’s officials, players and supporters to
Kilkenny Lane for this Monday afternoon’s fixture, which is now our new
local derby, I hope it proves to be an entertaining game between two
competitive but entertaining teams.
I would also like to offer a warm welcome to today’s match officials, Kieran
Bailey, Edward Henderson and David Lester.
After a somewhat problematic start to the season, the Senior team now seems
to be a bit more organised and capable of competing at this level. I would
like to welcome Martin ‘Wilky’ Wilkinson back into the fold after his summer
hols and he takes over the reigns for his first game in charge today. He
knows that the next few weeks are going to be difficult, but after a couple
of good results, he has a platform to build on and some very committed
players to work with, the whole atmosphere has changed since the debacle of
day 1 and it is encouraging to say the least. |

report from WDFL Web site:- John Fathers Junior Shield Cup By grant oliver
Carterton FC A hosted an out of sorts game to strugglers Steeple Aston of
the Lord Jersey premier league.
Even before the game kicked off Neil Taylor was replaced by Scott Walters at
right back, through an injury accured during the warm up, the pitch being to
blame. The playing surface at Monahan way was poor to be polite, and this
contributed to the game ahead. Neither side could settle into a rhythm due
to the poor pitch conditions, and made an afternoons cup tie viewing a
little dissapointing.
Steeple Aston went into the break 1 - 0 up through a very dodgy hand ball
decision in the penalty area, that Chris Herbert did manage to get a hand
too, but was unable to keep it out.
1st Half - Carterton 0 - 1 Steeple Aston
The second half started much the same as the first half with carterton
looking more dangerous than there apponants and was rewarded with an
equaliser scrambled in by Chris Mac. Carterton made two substitutions to
freshen things up and paid off with a winning goal scored by Dan Sollis.

Tough game
Didn't quite happen for us where we needed it but still unbeaten in the
